Planning on coming up to Boston from New York probably thanksgiving weekend. were looking for a reasonable priced hotel, in a decent area. But in the city itself rather than the outskirts. Also if anyone can tell me is it easy to take a bus or something out to marthas vineyard (ive never gone there other than car)?

Um the Vineyard is an Island....so a bus will be tough....you can take a ferry from boston to Ptown and another ferry from there to the Island....find a cheap hotel inside Boston on a Holliday is not likely to happen.

I stay at the Sheraton Boston when I'm there. Beautiful hotel right in the Prudential Center. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Newton (~30-40 minute T ride into town) and it was okay, but still costed about $150 a night. Good luck finding anything cheap...

You can bring your car if you reserve in advance.

Thanks for all the input everyone, i havent blue skyed or nailed down a spot yet but ill take it into consideration.
Let me also clarify ive been to marthas vineyard tons of times, more than boston actually, and i know the ferry ride, its not seasonal ive been there in the dead of winter and its still running, just wanted to know where i could get it from like is there a certain t line that will bring me to a place where i can get a bus or something to the ferry, i used to stay with friends of mine who had a house on the island, but theyve since moved so im kinda screwed for getting around

I don't know of any easy way to get to the Ferry this time of year from Boston using Public Transport. Maybe the commuter rail from South Station on the Plymouth Line? Long shot.

Hotels:
Omni Parker House
Nine Zero
The Charlesmark
Wyndham on Tremont (above The Roxy)
Fairmont Copley
Colonade

Yeah

Yeah

I worked for the A/V co at the Fairmont and the Wyndham on Tremont. Both are very cool places.
