It's my understanding that you will only be able to hear what you have recorded if your inside.

It depends on the building... My gym has big windows in the front and I can get reception in the whole place. Even in the bathroom. But then if I'm home, I can't get reception unless I'm right next to a window. It's best to just have recorded shit as a backup. And make sure to pick up that new antenna.

I've been doing my own investigation and although the price seems really nice for the current models available (Tao, MiFi & Airware) I think I'll pass and wait for the next generation out soon.

But for what it's worth I was able to get the best objective info for all the radios on www.CNET.com

I'm sure you're savvy enough to find info for all three there...I even includes video clips explaining what they like and don't like.

My findings where as follows.

Tao - Sturdy durable and includes a lot of stuff but the sound isn't that good.
Having said that they compare the sound to an MP3 Player...
That's not that bad not to mention I really only want to hear it for the boys and not much else.

Airware - Includes all the same great features including a timer where you can set the buffer to start and stop recording at set times. Kinda like a VCR but that the Airware seems a bit fragile.

Mifi - Is basically the same as the Tao but most people seem to perfer it more than the others (Including Opie). Lot of features blah, blah, blah

Hope this helps.

The second generation will most likely be first available at CES in early 06. XM was running some Apprentice tie in thing price special on them. Airwaves are in very short supply.

With all the RIAA shit happening, doubtful they'll be out. The doggy is pushing the V50 and it's looking like a real huge cluster fuck. XM is much smarter then the doggy's dumb ass management and will only release a product when it's ready, not because they're desperate to get subs.
