holy crap, i thought i was the only one who remembered Ghostwriter! i used to watch that, they'd encourage kids watching it to keep up with the mysteries in their own little notebooks and such. i still remember the first mystery, involving the group of thieves that wore two-sided masks and called themselves THABTO (Two Heads Are Better Than One). cool stuff.

i used to love Nickelodeon on Saturday nights back in the mid-90's, with shows like Rocko's Modern Life, Ahhh! Real Monsters, Doug, Ren & Stimpy, and Are You Afraid of the Dark. then i'd flip channels and watch Beavis & Butthead or Mystery Science Theater 3000.

i also remember Peewee's Playhouse, Mighty Mouse, Popeye & Son, and Fraggle Rock back in the late 80's. i also recall a Superman cartoon from the 80's that i haven't been able to find a trace of. it ran around the same time the Superboy live-action show was on. anyone remember that? and no, i'm not talking about Superfriends, this was a totally different cartoon.

damn, my memory rules. :cdude:

My god, what am I, the ONLY person here who was a pre-teen in the 70's?

What about the Six Million Dollar Man? Welcome Back Kotter? The Rockford Files?

Some excellent really REALLY goofy shit was happening at the end of the 70's heading into the 80's.

I spent part of Saturday in fact, trolling on torrent sites and newsgroups, because I got a really strange desire to see old 70's tv. I found a bunch of Six Million Dollar Man eps, some Beyond Westworld eps (there were only 5 made, so that was tough) and a couple of old episodes of The Bionic Woman.... Had a Retro-Flashback weekend! :)

Oh, I guess I should make it clear, I was ALWAYS a Sci-Fi geek, even when I was 10.

Glenn, Beyond Westworld was a tv series that didn't really take off, I enjoyed it though. There were 5 eps made, and it was about a team from the Delos Corporation, the folks who created Westworld, Futureworld, and Mideivalworld, and they would run around trying to stop an assistant from the robotics dept. who took over the robots, that lead to westworld going crazy in the movie. His big plan was to replace key world figures with robots so he could rule the world.

i also remember these awful syndicated shows they'd run in the afternoons, one called She-Wolf starring Julie Strain and some other guy. there was also another one starring two guys who were really aliens and were always trying to get laid, but whenever they got close to chicks, their bodies would get too hot and steam would start coming out of them. i think it was called "They Came from Outer Space" but i could be wrong. i also remember live shows like Small Wonder (about a guy who builds a robot daughter) and some other show about a group of cocktail waitresses working in some high-rise lounge with a piano player, although i can't remember the name of the show for the life of me.

i just bought the Ghostbusters Gift Set, and they included a couple eps of the animated series. i used to love the Ghostbusters, but watching the cartoon now makes me realize how awful old animation looks compared to today. and i think the guy who did Peter Venkman's voice for the cartoon also did Garfield's voice. ironic thing is, Bill Murray voiced Garfield in that shitty Garfield movie last summer.

ok gotta call up Space 1999
StarBlazers
Silver Hawks
Jason From Star Command
Land of The Lost
There was a cheesy miniserises, (within The Splits) called Pirate Island, I think, with the robot from Lost in Space and Jan Michael Vincent
Far out Space Nuts:
Ruth Buzzy and the guy who made a career imitating Hardy. Premise was a couple of kids "lost in space" with a few retards and a cross between a horse and a dog

Battle of The Planets:
Ok this was on Cartoon network under another name and different episodes
Basically it was about a group of teens called together to defend the earth from a malevolent alien presence.
Each had a vehicle that would link together to form a super starship that's ultimate attack was something called the "Fiery Pheonix"
The characters were Called : Mark, Jason, Keyop(he was apparently retarded) Princess, and Tiny. Each wore football jerseys with their team "number" until they went into battle, then they went into battle wearing birdlike costumes. Each had specific weapons and vehicles:
Mark Piloted a Cessna, Jason was a race car driver, Princess had a convertible
Tiny had a tank yet was also the mechanic/Pilot, and Keyop used a bubble looking thing and a yoyo as a weapon..

Giant Robot:
A Japanese live show where a kid was part of a planetary defense squad and had a Giant battle robot he communicated with via a wrist band remote.

Giant Shogun Warriors:
A Cartoon

There is another show called "Time Tunnel"
I think, it was a mid to late 70's show. Cheesy to the extreme! Two of the characters were revolutionary soldiers.

A Disney Show:
The Swamp Fox/Scare Crow: Basis for the Mel Gibson Film: The Patriot
Starring the guy from the Naked Gun .... Leslie Nielson??

Anyone from the Northwest remember J.P. Patches? I think he might have only been on in the Seattle area. He was a clown who showed cartoons in the morning before school. He had a ragdoll named Esmerelda and a monster in the basement. This would have been middle to late 70's.

It was on at like 6a.m.. It had to be either 1980 or 1981. I used to watch it before I caught the bus my senior year. It was a very good dramatic cartoon.

Good, at least I'm not alone.

Here's a pic.

Square 1 WAS THE SHIT! I loved that show!
Mathnet and Dirk Niblick of the Math Brigade were the two best parts of that show.

They weren't shows, but they were movies that I saw on VHS that were around at the same time as all these shows.(you fuckers covered all the shows I used to watch.
1st, the reason I bothered to see the Lord of the Rings movies, was the memories I had of this.

Here's a question for all you baggers. Who here DIDN'T have a cable tv show as one of their nostalgia shows? When I was doing the nostalgia thing, cable was a gleam in some MIT tech geeks eye. I didn't have my first look at HBO until 1982. Therefore, my nostalgia shit comes from regular tv only....

I remember:

chiller theater
Welcome Back, Kotter
The Six Million Dollar Man (and the spinoff, The Bionic Woman)
Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids
Battle of the Planets
Scooby-Doo New Movies (Used to have the goofy guest star, like Jerry Reed)
Batman (In reruns, not THAT old)
Greatest American Hero (bought season 1 on DVD recently... didn't hold up!)
Starsky and Hutch
Planet of the Apes (the tv series, not the movies)
SuperFriends (With gleek and the Wonder Twins, not the shitty one with Marvin & Wendy & Wonder Dog)
Zoltar (for you kiddies, a precursor to Power Rangers)
H.R. Puffinstuff, Electra Woman & Dyna-Girl
Mighty Mouse
Corageous Cat and Minute Mouse

YES! I knew I had seen that knight chess piece before. I forgot the name of the show, but I knew the name of the character!

Great American Hero
Scooby Doo
Superfriends
Batman
Fat Albert,etc.
You're not alone.:icon_wink

Joey - Great friggin' list. I was also a pre-cable kid.

chiller theater Wasn't this on Channel 9 in NY around 10:00PM or so? Scary shit for the early 70's.

Welcome Back, Kotter Another classic. Really dated now when you can catch it, but it was a no-miss show.

(and the spinoff, The Bionic Woman) Lindsay Wagner was a close second to Farrah Fawcett in those days. But can you believe we watched this crap? :)

Greatest American Hero Yeah, another dated show, but Connie Sellecca was very fine to look at.

Starsky and Hutch Absolutely. Great (for it's day) cop show.

H.R. Puffinstuff Another great call. Starred Jack Wild who had played the Atrful Dodger in the movie Oliver! (another pre-cable fav).

I'm sure the "A-Team" was already mentioned. Does anyone remember that weird comedic reality show "Real People"? Used to catch it all of the time in the late-70's or early-80's.

Very cool trip down memory lane. Thanks.

who remembers Big Blue Marble?
I do, but seem to remember seeing it during the school day on what was probably an early version of local area cable. Pretty cool show. Wasn't there a magazine related to show as well? Then again, I could just be losing my friggin' mind.
