I've listened to Opie and Anthony since around 99-00ish and the never had seized to amaze me with the talent they had to put on a radio show
I loved the start of the XM show and besides a few bugs (specifically the equipment) I thought it was a great show, but slowy the show has gone into a mode where they have added a sort of "Pest Radio" segment almost on the daily it usually lasted around 20-30 minutes per show and usually includes calls from AOTM participants or fake army generals or other ubersuperduper fan related topics
Slowly but surely this entire bit has grown and grown to the point where what happened tonight happened. It was similar to the WNEW show in regards to it being a run away train with everyone trying to one-up each other and I think it started to alienate the original fans who wanted to hear more of a WNEW type show of outrageous radio mixed with intellectual topics
Sure I'll do a sticker stop and I'll wear my O&A shirts but I think so people started to take the "O&A" army WAY WAY WAY to seriously. I think that the death of the AOTM and the death of Pest Radio will be better for the O&A show in the long run
Then again I'm no radio host and I'm no producer, but from my fan point of view I think people would rather see the time spent on Pest Radio spent on something else
It was a fun run while it lasted
RIP AOTM and RIP Pest Radio
And thats my 2 Cents
