I love Patrice's laugh. Little Jimmy has a fairly distinct laugh as well. Burr is low key usually, but he has that signature "Oh, My God" thing.

What makes the three of them great, individually, is their intelligent commentary. Burr, I think, is the smartest of the three (not withstanding Jimmy's vocabulary), but the other too aren't far behind.

I really and truly don't get the Patrice thing. I understand that he seems to be universally loved, but I think he's about the most clueless radio personality I've ever heard. Half the time he takes the bit in the wrong direction when it's obvious where the funny is. The other half of the time he's setting up a joke but takes fucking forever to get there - and the payoff isn't even that great.

He does it constantly but one that comes to mind is the other day when he kept on about "The tree is blowing in the wind. The bird sits high upon the mountain." OK, OK, we get it - spies use wacky code phrases. His weren't funny at all, but he kept on and on and on with them. And when he went off on Menino "dedicating this black." Sure, the word "plaque" sounds like "black", but it wasn't because Menino was saying it. The whole reason for playing the clip was because there were some other words that Menino garbled.

Sure, he laughs really loud and occasionally says something funny, but he just doesn't work for me in this environment. As I've said before, I think he's probably a good comedian because of his ability to write jokes. Jimmy is a good comedian because he can improv. Improv is the key to being funny on the radio, where you can't know the material going into the gig.

I don't even dislike his laugh that much or his constant racial humor. He's just slow and tedious and doesn't seem to be on the same page as the rest of the group.

You guys seem to love him, so I guess I understand why the bbboys keep asking him back. I just miss Jimmy being quick, witty, and dead on.

Exactly. Bill yelling shit out the window at that custodian was hilarious. I think Bill's problem is that he's just not completely comfortable with the whole set-up yet, so he doesn't feel right piping up. He'll get there.

I really want to give Patrice a chance, but I just don't get it. Can you guys post particular bits or jokes he made that you thought were funny? I keep hearing laugh and energy, but there has to be more than that.

I find the shows with Patrice to be kind of frustrating. O&A and the guests all tend to be constantly yelling and struggling to get their lines out before getting stepped on by a painful shreak of laughter or a comment from Patrice that shows he isn't listening to what's being said. How many times have you heard Anthony make an insightful comment coming at the topic from a different angle only to be stepped on by Patrice and then have to explain himself several times before he shuts up long enough to get the joke. I'm also put off a bit by how racist Patrice is, everything is always race. I understand that's his schtick but it gets old for me, especially when he drags a topic that direction when it's headed for radio gold if he'd just leave it alone for a few seconds. I noticed it took a few days for Bill Burr to get the flow of the show and understand that his turn to speak will come, O&A obviously watch for cues that their 3rd has a line to deliver and give him the floor. Once Bill quickly got in tune with the flow of the show, his being 3rd turned into some of the best shows going (Anthony's chef, don't mention Chapelle etc.). It might sound like I don't like Patrice, but I really do like his humor and energy. I think that Anthony having trouble with his voice today is from yelling over Patrice and having to blurt out everything at double speed. Even the Twitchell piece, which was absolute gold, would have been platinum if after the betting and the sideshow was over, he had been able to complete just one of his stories without having Patrice shreak with laughter at a tick and then not let the guy get back to the story. It is exactly why he is trying to shed light on Terretts(sp?), imagine going through life having that happen every time you try to say anything, never being able to get to a punchline or finish a story. Bottom line for me, Patrice is great and does a good job for the show, (half hulk face! haaaaa!) if only he could take a break once in awhile from the shreaking, yelling and racism and let the magic that is the O&A show flow.

The main point is that I just love O&A no mater who is on the show. I useto have a few radio shows I would listen in on but I could miss days on end with out even a care about what I missed. Then I listened to O&A. It was the funnies show that ever heard. I wake up every morning and look forward to listening to every bit of the show. I don't care who is on or what they talk about. It's all radio gold.

love his laugh, he's fucking hilarious. not everyone does the same thing, he laughs loud and asks the boys a lot of good questions and I love it. I think he just gets real excited and thats when he walks on people. Rarely though does he step on a line, usually he just talks over people during questions and stuff.

To his immense credit, I thought Patrice was better yesterday. It really seemed like he was waiting for opportunities to say something (instead of constantly trying to jump in with something funny). His jokes didn't seem as forced (long build-up, weak pay-off), and the show was more entertaining as a result.

I thought he was scoring about 60% of the time (as opposed to his usual 15%). I actually found myself laughing at his stuff, which I'm not sure I've done since he's been coming on.

Yesterday was much better shit for him. I could become a Patrice fan if he keeps going in this direction.

I disagree, and I think you're in the minority here. I'd say about 75% of my favorite shows have been with Bill. I think him and Anthony work the absolute best together (of all the fill-ins)...from DWI stories, to old warehouse stories, to random discussions about candy bars...Bill and Ant somehow have a way of making it hilarious.

I like Patrice a lot, and I've found that while I don't laugh as much when he's on, he's still very entertaining to listen to. I like how he asks the guys really personal questions about their radio ordeals. It really gives a lot of insight on subjects that O&A certainly wouldn't bring up on their own.

patrice is the man, second only to lil jimmy! someone stated that patrice was to slow for the show. noway is he any slower than bill burr. billy just sits there with his thumb up his ass, hardly commenting unless O&A tell him to. and patrice is a helluva lot better than Vos. i say patrice as a perment stand in for jimmy when hes gone!

my vote: Jim Norton for PERMANENT 3rd mic (unless he's off making movies or something), and rotate the other guys around for 4th mic. nothing's better then when there's two comics on shitting on each other, whether it's Norton / Vos, Norton / Patrice, Vos / Patrice, Bill Burr / anybody...... you get the idea. more comics more gooder

Lil Jimmy IS the permanent 3rd mike...just this small hollywood thing he is doing prevents him from being in two places at once....I do like the guest 3rd mike thing in his absence....patrice and bill burr are my two favs.

I agree. Friday Patrice seemed a bit more reserved and really had some awesome (not a black guy saying awesome...) comments. I mean, "time for you to be a coach" hahhhahahaha!!! I think it just takes some time for a 3rd to settle in and get the timing thing. Jimmy is very respectful of the timing, even to the point of appologising if he steps on a line, Bill said very little for a few shows until he got into the swing and started doing whole bits, Patrice just started in full speed and over the top. Face it, all 3 are amazing comics. I think the more Patrice does the show the better he'll get. It's great when Patrice takes a joke to the screaming point, just not all the time and Friday it was a few times and was great radio.

His laugh may be real but it often sounds forced because he laughs so long and loud at shit that just isn’t that funny. It’s a lot like what Ron & Fez were talking about a few days ago; the morning zoo shows where when one person is talking, the other people in the studio keep laughing constantly; to indicate where the funny part is because it’s not that funny. I agree Patrice is great on the show but I hate his over the top, drawn out, too loud laughs.

Am I the only one, or does Patrice's laugh make you want to take a chainsaw to your throat? It's so fuckin' forced, over the top. I think he's a funny guy, he has his moments, but he's nowhere near as good a third mic'er as say Billy Burr. And when he steps on what the bbboys are saying, especially Anthony, I wish someone would attack that goofy gorilla with a bi-plane.

There was this caller one time who said that Anthony's laugh makes him laugh even more. That's what I get when I hear Patrice start to laugh, I fuckin crack up.
It's also because I know it's coming, like in the case of the comic douche with tourettes.
There was complete silence while they were timing him, then even seconds before the tourettes kicks in, I start to laugh because I know those 2 mother fuckers(ant and patrice) are gonna be the first to lose it.
