A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 carrying 98 people skidded off a runway during a driving snowstorm at Chicago's Midway Airport on Thursday night, slamming through a fence and sliding into an intersection, hitting at least one car, a spokeswoman for Chicago's Department of Aviation said. There were no immediate reports of injuries to passengers on Southwest Flight 1248, but a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman said there could be two people injured in the car.

Stearney says the family had just visited McDonald's and that Joshua was eating his food and singing "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" just before the accident occurred.

Unlucky lottery or sucks to be you?

unlucky lottery.

Makes you realize how precarious life can be.

I've been thinking about a storyline for a movie (might be made already) but what if death were a team or guy and he had to hunt you down before you die. What if you managed to evade him but as you did your death changes and it affects more and more people. Like at first you are just to die by yourself on the side of the road somewhere but you don't. So the next time he catches up with you you are with your friends in a bar and now the bar burns down, killing 20 people. But you escape and ge on a plane, now the plane crashes and 75 people die. etc snowballing until it is a global thing. Has this been a movie??

I knew I wasn't creative enough to come up with that on my own.

That little boy is tragic. It also screws up the holidays for his whole family forever.

Unlucky lottery for the kid... looks like the parents and their lawyer are trying to turn it into the lucky lottery for them <sigh>...

CHICAGO The six-year-old boy who was killed when a Southwest Airlines jet skidded off a runway at Midway Airport was traveling to visit his grandparents in the Chicago area.
That's according to attorney Ronald Stearney Junior, who's representing the family of Joshua Woods of Leroy, Indiana.

Stearney says the family had just visited McDonald's and that Joshua was eating his food and singing "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" just before the accident occurred.

The car was pinned under the plane, which landed during snowy conditions.

The lawyer says the family is suffering from shock and grief.

Stearney says the family is considering a lawsuit.

He says many factors will be looked at _ such as the weather conditions, pilot experience, actions of airport controllers and the runway setup at Midway.

Southwest is based in Dallas.
