Damon is going to the Yankees for 4/52 mil. Good player, but not nearly worth that much. I'll miss him, but for that $$$$ buh-bye.

keep buying your way into the series, NY.
FUCK!

FUCK!
This far from guarantees the Yanks a trip to the series. They still have some pretty big pitching problems and question marks.
I guess it'll make the team better, but I don't like the move. I think the Yankees would have been better served trying out Bubba in CF this season and then using the full power of Steinbrenner's money to get Andruw Jones when he becomes a free agent next season. A better all around player and younger.

I'm pissed that we didn't resign him, but I've been more worried about keeping Manny than Damon. Damon's a great lead off guy, he'll make a catch here and there, but he doesn't have an arm. You're basically getting Bernie from a few years ago, minus some points in the batting average and the homeruns. Definitely sucks to lose him though. Fuckin Yankees....

I fucking hate Damon. Why couldn't we have made a move elsewhere?

Good luck Johnny. I hope he can get the ball in from cf in Yankee Stadium.

Exactly, I'm not all that upset about this. Obviously I hate losing anyone to the Yankees, but for an average of 13mil/year he can go fuck himself. I'm glad the Sox didn't offer anything over 10, he's just not worth it. At 32 his speed declining the past few years, a deeper outfield to throw the ball in from with his spaghetti arm, just not smart for the Sox to spend that much on him. It'll definitely hurt, no doubt, that's a big hole in the lineup to fill.

4 years 52 mill is in line w/JD Drew and Furcal, therefore the market for centerfielders (and one of the best leadoff hitters) would say that 52 mill, is not too much..
good luck filling centerfield, shortstop, and finding a new leadoff hitter. Oh yeah, Manny's not very happy.

because it simutaneously hurts our main competition in the AL east (sox). That could be the difference of 3-5 games in the end of the season.

I also think day in and day out Damon was the most significant person in that lineup..when he hit they won when he didn't they loss. look at the 2004 alcs.

Last time I checked 420 ft is deeper then 408 and throwing won't be as much of an issue since Damon will catch up balls better then Bernie did so less will fall for hits.

Thank you...its a HUGE upgrade...sure bernie made great contact at the plate he just didn't have the power he once had to pop the ball out, and catching up to balls was painfull to watch. I hate Damon, he f'n beat us by himself in the ALCS game 7, I would rather see Bubba play every day. But no more Kevin Brown, so I am ok with this for now. Plus short fence in right Damon will put a few more HR's on then usual

i was thinking at first.."shit i dont want this guy from the red sox"...but then i got over it and its a big blow to the red sox and he'll be great as a lead off hitter...ive put my anger and hatred at him aside...he's a yankee now...sorry sox fans!!!
