Fuck no. Some people say that this is one more shot at Boston saying, 'haha, we got another one that you can't keep your hands on!"
Personally, I say fuck him and I'm getting ready to say Fuck the Yankees. The only 2 home-grown that we have left are Jeter and Jorge; the rest of the team are imports. I'm a huge Yankees fan, but I'm almost hoping that Steinbrenner gets fucked again with a dog-shit post-season. It is the curse of the Bambino (another redsock)... After telling the world that you're tearing down his house because your rich cocksucker ass needs luxury boxes, I hope we get 86 years of failure.

WHAT!?!?! Hi, ever hear of the best closer ever? Mariano is homegrown. Also Cano and Wang.
Captain Caveman will be a solid leadoff hitter, something the Yankees haven't had in years. And as far as loving a guy after your team picks him up. Two words...Roger Clemens. Possibly the most hated player in Yankee history, gets to the Yankees, did nothing but win games. That's how it works, when he's on the other team, you don't like him, when he performs well for your team, you like him. Pretty standard really.

I can't just start rooting for him, especially because he's the one that hit the grand slam to kill the Yankees, but I am exicted that they filled the CF hole while hurting Boston in the process. Sure his arm isn't that good, but at least he'll catch balls that Bernie wouldn't have.

Damon last year - .316-10-75-18sb .366OBP (.353 career)
Jeter last year - .309-19-70-14sb .389OBP (.386 career)
Now I'm not saying that Jeter won't be a great #2 hitter and Damon is a more than serviceable replacement in the leadoff spot, but to say the Yankees have not had a solid leadoff hitter just isn't true.

Damon's a true leadoff hitter, he goes deep in the count and rarely strikes out...I think Jeter's going to be a much better 2 guy and with Cano and Damon ahead of him, I see Jeter's RBI's going way up..
Personally, I never liked damon, but thats cause he was a good player. To expect NY fans to keep hating a transplant player if he produces. Especially if Damon handles himself well. I was a little less than thrilled to hear his interview on ESPN this morning. He said something to the effect of "the yankees wanted the best lead-off man in baseball, and now they have him". Humility is something to respect, and it's something I expect of Yankees players. It shows class. What he said doen't. If you want to exude that attitude, go play in the NBA with the rest of the animals.
With that said, as long as he doesn't display that type of attitude, and produces good numbers, I will most likely grow to like him.

Damon keeps saying he's the best leadoff hitter in the game. Damon's good, but there's no way he's better than Ichiro.
Regarding the Yankees fans, if Damon plays well, he'll be loved. They'll completely forget all the bashing about him when he was on the Red Sox. RJ beat them in the WS in 2001, and they welcomed the 42-year-old happily.

jeter didn't bat leadoff the entire year and he normally hits in the #2 spot.

I dont think that too out there. HEs not really stretching the truth there

regardless, it's like I said. Humility is something to respect, and it's something I expect of Yankees players. Along with putting up numbers, I want a class A attitude to go with it. I don't care if you are the greatest... cockiness is unattractive and unproffesional. When I think of the Yankees organization, certain things come to mind. Class, a legacy, winning, sportsmanship, and all that is good about sports. Projecting an ego doesn't fit in that equation for me personally. It's sort of like the way RJ has an attitude. I was excited to see him come to NY, but his pitching lessened my enthusiasm, and his piss poor attitude made me not like him altogether.:icon_conf
