Details here are still pretty spotty, but it doesn't sound like foul play was involved.

Son of Colts coach Dungy dead
NFL.com wire reports
TAMPA, Fla. (Dec. 22, 2005) -- James Dungy, the 18-year-old son of Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy, was found dead in a Tampa-area apartment, police said.
In a news release on its website, the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office said it "responded to the Campus Lodge Apartments this morning at approximately 1:32 a.m. The girlfriend of James Dungy had returned to the apartment and discovered Dungy."
Police performed CPR on Dungy before he was taken to University Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No foul play is suspected, but a cause of death won't be announced pending an autopsy, said Vida Morgan, a secretary in the sheriff's public information office. The apartments are located in Lutz, Fla.
Tony Dungy has left the Colts and is in Tampa, according to NFL.com.
The coach and his wife, Lauren, have four other children: daughters Tiara and Jade and sons Eric and Jordan.
The Colts (13-1) are at Seattle on Saturday.
Fans posted prayers and messages of support for Dungy, who also coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on a message board on a Colts fan website.
"Not only was he a great football coach for the Bucs, but he is an even better person," one Tampa Bay fan wrote. "It makes me sick that it happened at this time of year to a person that is so giving and caring."
Another person wrote for God to give strength to Dungy during this difficult time.
"When things like this happen it adjusts our perspective on life," one person wrote. "What was considered major yesterday doesn't amount to more than a footnote today."

That really sucks. Tony has left the Colts and his assistant is coaching the team from this point on. It bugs me when a decent guy has to deal with something like this.

LO fuckin L. Just thought I'd search him on myspace. Can anyone confirm this is him? If so, seems like James probably did not die of "natural" causes.

Shit, that might be him. Says his hometown is Pittsburgh, and Tony did play for the Steelers and then was an asst. coach with them in the 80's.
And you can tell from his profile that he's about as hard as a marshmallow.

At least with my space parents can actually get an answer when a screwed up kid takes his own life. In a weird way it is a good thing. If you are going to kill yourself at least have the common courtesy to leave a detailed note, or update your myspace so everyone knows why you did it. Then they don't have to say "Why?" they can say "Because"

USA Today is reporting it as a suicide as well, and supposedly his family is donating his body to an organ procurement facility. Link below.

I don't understand how no foul play can be involved. Yeah, perfectly healthy 18 year olds drop dead all of the time!
I don't know anything about him, but my guess would be suicide or od.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing actually.
The real question is......how will this effect the game against my Seahawks? Will the Colts rally behind this or will it lower moral and effect their play? Will the lack of Dungy making calls screw up the flow of the team? So many questions....

Yeah just like was real tough for a guy to be the voice of a new generation. The face of a new musical genre with millions of fans worldwide. A shitload of money and a new baby daughter in his life. Yet Kurt Corbain, sitll put a shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger.

Ok Harry, now it's your turn.
NOW, this pisses me off... now if the Colts lose from here on out, there's always going to be an excuse of off-field occurances rather then the Colts sucking a dick. Sucks it happened though. RIP

It's plausable, but his daddy is rich so you could pay off whatever stupid wager he made. But then again maybe he didnt wanna ask for the money. I'm guessing he ODed because thats pretty much the only way to kill yourself and not have it pretty apparent that it was suicide. If he did OD, it always coulda been an accident.
