Good MMO?

Ever since SWG did that stupid NGE revamp that caused me to quit the game, I have been desperately looking for a new MMO.

I played the Matrix Online for like a month and got bored with it. Sure, the story was excellent, but the normal everyday stuff got redundant.

I've been spoiled by SWG. In my opinion, it's the best MMO ever made, but after they put Jedi into the game shit just got more and more complicated and it just turned into a disaster.

So now I'm looking for a good MMO to keep me busy. I don't want to get WoW because the graphics are just too cartoony for my taste. I've also heard that Guild Wars gets boring after awhile.

I'm thinking I'll get D&D when it comes out because it looks kind of fun.

But anyway, does anyone have any good MMORPG suggestions?

There's not really a MMORPG i've played that has upsides that kill the downsides. I'm almost done with WoW becuase as i foresaw, the community sucks elitest ass. I got tired of Guild Wars quick, even though it's not really a MMORPG, since outside of towns are generated just for you.

I think i'm going to go back to FFXI, even though the rampart Farmers are just as bad when i left from what i hear, and the racisim the japanese players have, holy shit... AND THE GRINDFEST. You will spend hours just looking for a party, depending on your class! However, community wise it is the best game out there, graphic/story wise too.

BTW, don't touch City of Heros/Villians. The only thing that thing has going for them is the customization, everything else is boring and dull.

I played Galaxies for about 2 years too. I was Jedi through Holo-grinding and loved the game. Then when the cuts and the village was releases I got tired of it fast. Jedi was fun but when they really started weakening us it really sucked. Then the first COmbat Upgrade came out and I hated it. And yes I had tons of cash on that stupid game. I donated around 80 million credits to my old guild when I left the game and had some left in case I ever decided to come back.

I went to Guild Wars and could never bring myself to get into a guild and really start getting into the community like I did in Galaxies. I tried WoW and hated it bigtime.

I heard that Matrix and City of Villians/Heroes were both bad. I have thought about Everquest but they are both SOE ran, so I can't really bring myself to go back to them. Then I heard that it takes so long to get anything going on FF.

Sorry. Forgot to answer your question. The next one that I am going to take a look at I think is the Middle Earth Online. This is the Lord of the Rings games. I think it releases around May or so this coming year. Looks cool and has the potential for some of the largest PVP battles ever.

Man that sounds like a game that was just waiting to be made. Damn my college student funds or I'd have a computer good enough to play a game like that.

I think i got spoiled by old SWG too. even though the NGE sucks total ass ive tried WoW and got fed up with it after having to run to my corpse repeatedly only to get killed again after coming back to life. i went back to SWG after a few days of WoW and even with the gay game-wide nerf job its still better than anything i can see out currently. maybe SOE was right and that we'd have to stay regardless.

i found its a little better if you ignore your lvl 80 pre-NGE characters and create one from scratch and follow the legacy quests. its easier to figure out the new specials and attacks one at a time as you level up rather than re-spec'ing and being totally lost. try officer, its like a cross between rifleman/carbiner and squad leader and so far im digging it as best as i can. its either this or nothing unless they invent some new shit that's great like the launch version of SWG.

if your tired of the same old point and click and eat popcorn fighting in all the rpgs, the I strongly suggest getting Planetside. no NPCs and battles with over 200 players makes this game one of the greatest mmolg ever made. weapons armor tanks aircraft galore!

WOW looks cartoon like? I downloaded the DEMO of SWG and I thought the graphics were lacking. Just go WOW and forget your free time because it will all be gone.

Graphics are outdated, but that's because it came out early 2000...erm...2001? Either one of those. Point is it was years ago, but I still think the graphics are good even for an oldish game. Too bad the gameplay was completely bastardized.

Galaxies still has the best graphics of any online RPG i have seen to date. WoW is a bit cartoonish to me. Galaxies is high intensive due to the fact that every character looks different and the game has to load that. WoW has standardized characters, ala, the game loads and runs faster on a lower machine.
