Sound Editor

I tried searching for sound editor and found nothing.

I have a program where I can crop out portions of mp3 files and save them. I need something where I can reassemble them into a new sound file. I used to have a program called Sound Forge that could do this, but I lost it years ago. Can anyone healp me out for some type of free solution?

I am working on something that I think will be slightly amusing at the slightest and I need help.
