Count me in - I just recently started getting back into BF2. Xfire login name is noreastern. I usually play sniper and support but I'm up to any challenge, and usually around 8PM EST.

Also I don't know how everyone else feels about the VOIP thing but I'm running a TS server on my PC. I usually don't run it unless there's a planned event but if there's enough interest I can register everyone and leave it up indefinitely.

It is Worthless against aircraft most of the time.But the AA is an infantry killer. You can rack up points with it if you have someone in it with you spotting.

I usually play at night on weekdays and whenever on weekends. I love the teamspeak. Nice job patbat1mk1llfield! I am sorry i missed the inaugural send off the O&A clan but i had to sleep more than 5 hours 1 night this week...

As for a kit, i love them all....so whatever is fine with me. I would love to see a squad w/ medic, 3x Anti tank and a supply and just blow the shit out of all the armor whores...i like taking out a tank even more than shooting down a plane. BTW I too am so sick of 'team vehicle damage' when firing the AA...the did 'fix' it with the latest patch believe it or not, i played the demo again to see the difference and the missles are much faster and more likely to find the target while in air, but come on they have got to stay locked....I would love to see them blow up mid air if they didn't get the locked target.

I just got my new vid card, ATI AIW x800xt so i will be installing that this weekend and gaming like a freak!

GG last nite to the few that I was able to play with. I had to call it quits after I played a HORRIBLE round on Warlord - for some reason that map, and only that map, is extremely choppy on my 3.0 P4 (but every other map runs fine with the graphics settings at a medium level). Probably need to ditch my Kingston ValueRam for some REAL memory...........


And on a completely unrelated note: HumpX, did you photoshop your avatar? Or is that how he originally appeared in Wolf3D? I remember a biomech Hitler of some kind but that was well over 10 years ago!

Jesus I had a horrible kubra dam round last night...2x a car full of teammates decided to run over my mines... 5ppl x -2, 2times = -20...I ended up with -27, but finished the round with a total score of +12...took a lot of work...FUCKIng look out for the mines...it drives me crazy because they are so effective against armor, and even when you die they stay for another 20 seconds so you could still get a kill, not like c4...but people have to learn not to hit them. They really need to develope a color coded warning system...Red could be c4, blue skull mines, yellow skull claymore...something like that...I mean, you have to sort of hide mines to kill, but then your own team just drives right over them...

I hear that... I remember when the game was initially released, a TON of people complained to EA that they were being punished for the stupidity of their teammates. At the same time there were also a ton of issues relative to the game crashing to desktop, so when EA finally fixed that they probably forgot about the landmine teamkill problem.

In Iron Gator last night some fucktard in a chopper (on my team) gunned me down while I was climbing a ladder. It wasn't just a case of trigger-happiness either, as he was hovering on the port side of the boat for a while and watched me climb 3/4 of the way up before killing me.

That explaines the 8 or so kit packs that were under the APC when it was blown up :) That was too much fun to not do. I was able to shoot at the helo's! It was really cool, and they had trouble hitting me because of the dumpster.....


For those who are wondering, we were on kubra dam, and I had an apc at the refuel spawn point and i drove the apc along the side of the hill and backed it in between the slope of the hill and the dumpster. It rolled on it's side, but didn't beging taking damage so i could keep firing...It worked like and awesome AA against the attack copters....

Surrrrreeee...so you can get a tank...come on...it is all about the processor, not the card when you load the round...IF you had card able to play at high res then it would look like a choice :)

Yea my maps load much faster when I've tried settings on low.
I prefer the eye candy though. Just sucks that when I spawn the other team is already laying artillery on my spawn point.

What guns are you going to unlock Funnybonez? I have 2 left to unlock but I won't get to unlock them till I hit 50,000 which aint happening anytime soon...
unless those booster packs that EA announced come with unlocks like SF did.

VirusInNH mentioned Warlord running like crap, it does for me too. More so at the palace on that map. But no where near as bad as all of Iron Gator does. The rest of the SF maps run ok but none of them run as well as the regular BF2 maps do for me. I've actually been avoiding them somewhat till a patch hopefully fixes them. Shame too because GhostTown & Warlord are 2 of my favorites in all of BF2.

Also, are you guys pretty much always on TeamSpeak when you're all playing?

I probably speak for all when i say there are 2 main reasons, first the quality of the audio in teamspeak is outstanding compared to in game, and 2nd, with teamspeak you can talk all the time...while it is loading, if you are in different squads, if you are on opposite teams....I like to load ts, talk to who is in there and find out where they are playing, what i should spawn as...it is so much better. I was a huge fan of the in game and wondered why no one used it until i got into ts.

I had that happen to me when I hit 20,000 too.
I had to wait till the next day, play a another round and gain a single point and I got the promotion.

I hear ya on the Engineers unlock blowing, they really need to give that class a weapon that can kill at a distance.
All the MP7 does is get the enemies attention.
I gotta say though, I don't really like the Supports 2nd tier unlock. (MG36)
I thought I'd like it but I seem to get owned everytime I use it.
So now, on the rare occasion that I use Support, I stick with the PKM.

I really wish they would fix that! It would be a simple fix. All they have to do is fix the timing of the Prone Animation. Just slow it down to more of a realistic speed, kind of like Ghost Recon or Americas Army. And make it impossible to go prone while Jumping. It would make the game better IMO.

I've been becoming pretty good with the new sniper rifle. I've been able to kill people on 1 shot now, and even get head shots on people running across the maps. The other night I got my 1st jeep kill through the window.

It will make it impossible to shoot unless you're standing/crouching/laying prone. Basically if you're not touching the ground (or an object) you can't shoot. I'll miss being able to jump-toss C4's but if it means no dolphins/bunnies then I'll gladly take the change.

Also, the booster pack is due Feb 8th

Those are without a doubt the two best improvements..I don't care about bunny hopping...dolphin diving....whatever...just make it so if you round a corner and a guy is staring at you he cant noob toob you and walk away unhurt...I am so glad to see that the grenade launcher will not arm until x amt of feet away....

Just download Teamspeak and Xfire. Then PM Patbattlefield to send you the Teamspeak IP and password and just join up when you see a wackbagger playing. It's not like a Clan where we have tryouts. You don't have to be an elite player or anything.

But if you do suck we might drive right past you in an obviously spacious APC, with your lil gun at your side yelling "Good Luck Bro!" whilst an incoming artillery barrage is raining down upon you. :action-sm

i've noticed a small glitch in the game sometimes when you kill enemies it registers as a teamkill. i looked right at this guy twice and it showed up red and i even check that he was on the other team and i got punished twice for killing him wtf? hack?....:icon_evil

I have made this happen and know how to make it happen...One way is to join a server and then when the game starts let's say you are on the mec team, well I think it has to do with the fact that the server only holds 32 people for instance and you are 16 on 16, 2 full teams...you are #16 on the mec team and want to be us. Normally you click the US tab and it beeps and switches you back to mec and you can no longer click the tab at all...well, when you die, or join a game wait for your spawn timer to run out so you can spawn right away...then if it is the first time, you click the opposite, full team tab, you then quick click a spawnpoint and then hit enter. You will spawn at a US spawn point...But the server can't have 17 on 15 so you are still assigned to the MEC team, but to the mec team you will appear red...also as a mec you will have the US kits. I have done this 2x already. What is pretty cool is you could spawn on the carrier, look like a US, kill US and get the points and people will be confused as fuck...Once you get killed it switches you back and you can't do it again...
There are other ways it happens, but this is the way that I know i have made it happen

if you have verizon you can usually just buy a data kit for a laptop or pc; or most major wireless companies offer pc cards that connect you to net through cell signal.

Fucking douches in the tanks...I was plaing on Lacantina and I got booted for TK'ing when a friendly tank ran over my mine on Mashtuur City...It was halfway throught the round, my first TK, and I was 2nd in points on the server...I had played prob 10 rounds already and was in top5 every round...I think the admin ran over my mine and kicked me...Fucking retard. What is the funniest is i will put mines along the bridge to the mosque so when the MEC's race across they all blow up...well these retards hit friendly mines, so we lose our tank and they have just cleared the mine field so the MEC's can drive on through...Fuck faces...

On kubra dam i had 14 kills w/ the mines last night. I discovered that if you put a mine down, and then throw a grenade at it when the tank gets near it it blows the tank up! You don't have to wait around for it to actually hit it.

I did a cool move, a tank was capping a flag I was at and he knew I was around somewhere b/c he was firing everywhere... So i snuck around behind a dumpster and put a mine on the corner then i went back around the other side and shot at him with the shotgun and ducked behind the dumpster...He drove around it to shoot me and Boom :) I got the kill and a flag defense :)

I played in a 24 hour warlord and was on a really shitty team... Switch side and create my own squad "oh my!"... My squad quickly became popular winning 5 straight top squad. We once got the top 6 scores. Question, do you get any extra points for when your team caps a flag when you command them to do it? Everytime i tell my squad to go cap a flag, they do it and cap it. It was an excellent group...

Well, the 1.2 Patch (http://forum.eagames.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=16887) is delayed.
Hello everyone.

As I pretty much expected, there is some last minute news to pass along. There’s some good and some not so good news but, hopefully, the good outweighs the not so good.

First, I’ll start with the bad news to get it out of the way. We have held onto the 1.2 patch a little longer than we had initially planned. We really felt that it was important to delay the patch and take care of some of the issues that have had the community concerned. This means that it will be released sometime in the next two or three weeks. This, unfortunately, means that the Euro Force Booster Pack will be delayed as well since it relies on the patch. Look for Euro Force to be released in the latter half of February now.

Also, another bit of bad news is that the new feature that allows player to pick up deployed mines with the G key is being held back. In the end, we felt it just wasn’t complete enough for public consumption. We at DICE apologize to all of you who were eagerly awaiting this feature.

I hope that the reasons for the delays are seen as positive by you, the community, and therefore I list these reasons as the good news portion of this update.

The following issues were addressed:

- Being able to pass through walls using a spinning tank turret has been fixed. It has also been addressed on all rotating vehicle positions just to be safe.
- The disappearance of tank projectiles and grenade launcher projectiles during online play has been improved and should occur less frequently
- The distance for throwing hand grenades, ammo packs, and health packs has been increased.

And finally…

- The Red/Blue nametag bug has been addressed

Regarding the last point, what we have done is make the code more secure to try and prevent any cases where this bug may occur. Since the fix has been in place, we have had no reproduction of the bug in testing.

We’re excited about being able to release 1.2 very soon and hope you all are too.

We have a small heads up announcement regarding the next couple of weeks in BF2. Things are rolling along for the patch and the booster pack, and as expected you'll likely see them later this month. The patch will come first, and be well in place in time for the first Booster. That said, we want to inform you of a small oddity you may see in-game while we get the various aspects coordinated.

Short explanation: At some point in the next couple of weeks, you will see an empty in-game window pop-up, just like you received an award. This is just GameSpy detecting now that when the patch comes out you will get another weapon unlock. You should only ever see it once or twice, depending on how high your rank and how many unlocks you’ll have coming. Once the patch is out, your weapon unlock will be available in the BFHQ tab and you can make your choice.

Long Explanation: The next patch is going to give many players another weapon unlock at their current rank. In order to get the best testing results we are having GameSpy configure up the weapon unlocks now on their end. This allows us to test them in a true environment, which is rather effective. The side effect of this is that when this is first in place you are likely to see an empty placeholder message. It will look just like you received an award and will appear once for each unlock you’ve earned. This message would be telling you that you have received another weapon unlock, but we haven't patched the weapons in yet. So you will see this placeholder message which is harmless. When the patch is in place though, the stats system will think you already got your notification in- game. So you will want to hit the BFHQ tab and unlock your free weapon.
