Some of the feautures look neat but I know they haven't done the stuff needed underneath.

A lot of that stuff is already available on the Mac Tiger. The spotlight search and the thumbnails on the taskbar. I would rather see how this thing will layout and how much hard drive space this one will eat up. they went up almost 200% in the storage required between win 2k and xp pro, I just wonder if they will keep this one a little less.

It looks like they are just slapping some 3rd party stuff into the system. Looks like Konfabulator will make an appearance as well. I wonder if their gadget system will play nicely with yahoo's or mac's. IE7 is bundled and Firefox will still grow.

Security on a Windows system doesn't mean shit, why Microsoft even tries baffles me. People strike out against the man, and the man seems to be some dumbass who opens the loveletter.exe file they recieved in their yahoo.com email address.

I do think the fancy new 3d window selection looks sexy though.

The sideshow may be the coolest thing that anyone has come up with too. Having a 3" lcd on the outside of your laptop that gives you your address book and calander is fucking cool.

The sleep function is about time they added it. Hibernate sucked and standby sucks. Sleep is nice if Vista is indeed stable enough to do it.

When does it come out? I definitly want to get this...can't be any worse than xp, at least it looks cool and that is a plus. I would like to see there home network stuff work easy too...printer sharing etc.

Beta versions are floating around the net. According to MS, it will be released this year. I expect around September.
