If you are a gamer, the performance differences are nil.

Anyone really into gaming, knows that the biggest thing you can do for performance is get a better videoi card and run higher resolutions and turn on things like AA.

And when you do that, the performance of your game is gonna be limited by the video card setup, not the CPU. AMD or Intel, will get the same frame rates in modern games at 1600x1200. We are talking a 1% variance at best.

Where one CPU might differ from another, is in a specialized task, like media encoding. Or one multitasks better than the other, etc...

What's nice today is that there are so many fast cheap to be had cheaply, that you almost couldn't buy a slow processor if your life depended on it.

Best bang for the buck gaming rig is a 3800+ X2 and 7800GT/SLI rig.
