DODGE CHARGER 500 LINEUP
Kasey Kahne wins the Bud Pole Award for the race at Darlington
tomorrow night. He was almost a full mile per hour faster than
runner-up Ryan Newman. 3 rookies finish up the top 5. They are:
3rd Clint Boyer, 4th David Stremme and 5th Denny Hamlin.

Kasey's on a bit of a tear this year, isn't he? Makes me wonder why Newman and those Penske folks bothered toying with the old Intrepid nose if the Evernham guys are making it work (at least in Kasey's case).

Ford is apparently not happy at all. If the Toyota's are competitive at all, Mikey is gonna have a pretty good looking team.
He owns some Ford dealerships too apparently. It'll be interesting to see how that works out.
Who's gonna be in the 88 next year? I say throw Ward Burton in it. Or Ricky Craven.

Very interesting... Any word on whether or not UPS is going with DJ?
According to Waltrip he already has sponsorship in place for both cars next year and as of now UPS isn't a part of it. Now RYR said that UPS isn't locked up for next year, and you know that UPS and DJ have great relationship. To me UPS and DJ is like Bud and Jr, Home Depot and Smoke, Dupont and Gordon, and Miller and Rusty were. I wouldn't be surprised to see UPS there in some fashion. Great exposure for them with Toyota starting next year. Also read that Bill Elliot is going to drive 5 races this year for MWR (Mikeys Team) in Monte Carlo's this year and those cars will be reskinned with Toyota next year, and they are all cars built in house by Waltrip for the Cup series. Should be interesting next year, and I see Dodge losing out with Toyota coming in.

Missed the race yesterday. I went to A/C to see Norton & Attell.
I heard the end of the race on XM on my way home. 1st win for
Biffle this year. About time considering all the races he's done
well in but couldn't wrap it up.
It should be interesting to see how well Toyota does next year.
They've had a few years of developing a program thru the truck
series so they should be competitive right out of the gate.

I think Toyota is going to have a decent chance at the COT races since all the teams and manufacturers will be learning how to build those cars and set them up; if there's any distinctive differences.
I think Yates will try to make a run at Casey Mears to have a younger driver w/experience especially if UPS stays onboard to compete with Hamlin and FedEx. And who knows by July or August who will be out of a ride or willing to change teams, just look at Busch and McMurray last year.
It was nice to see another race that had a long green flag run to the finish. One of these days Robby Gordon is gonna finish respective to how he runs.

JJ WINS THE CHALLENGE
Yes, once again Jimmy Johnson just rules at Charlotte. He restarted
the final segment 11th after the inversion and made his way back to
the front to win in a big way over Happy and Gordon.
Half the 20 car field never saw a checkered flag, but Scott Riggs
who raced his way in from the open was 10th and Kyle Petty did
get the fan vote and finish 9th. Good for Kyle and the Victory Junction
Camp who will be getting a nice check from this.
Smoke and Matt Kenseth were at it again as Matty pinched of
Stewart and they both wrecked. This could get ugly later.

Menard will be interesting to watch in the 15 car next year. Truex has a ton of pressure on him to succeed in the 1 because of the two busch championships, but Menard is under the radar and doing well because of it. With Jr running well, Truex getting there, and Menard in the 15, I can see better days ahead for DEI. Oh, and is anyone else getting sick of hearing how Jr fucked over Mikey last year and that's why he left. Last I checked DEI took Jr's cars, crew, and crew chief away from him just too keep the Napa deal and in a way prove that Mikey really isn't that good.

I agree. Things are looking up for DEI in the coming years. As far as Jr. fucking over Mikey. Its always DW saying something about it. Its his brother so take that for what its worth. In a way I think Mikey fucked DEI. They wanted him to stay for at least 3 years and he wanted a 1 year deal because he new he was gonna run a Toyota and had every intention on leaving. Even if he was home that quick, the season's not even half way over. If he's gotta deal with bad help like this almost as a backlash for not resigning with RYR, that's a bad way to go and would not make for a nice transition to his new ride.

I dont' think Michael is worried about Jarretts additude. I remember when Mikey announced DJ coming over he said he had sponsership for both cars and UPS wasn't one of them. I really find it hard to believe that UPS would just break ties with him just because he left RYR. NAPA followed Mikey into the unknown so I can't see why UPS wouldn't do the same. It'll be interesting none the less as Mikey might have the same results he had with DEI when he's running Toyota and DJ will have the same results or worse.

Tony is going to practice the car tomorrow and drive it until the first caution on Sunday, then Rudd is going to take over. They are trying to get Rudd to drive at Pocono as well but I guess he's got plans with his family and as he said on Nascar.com. "Pocono or Divorce". Have to wait and see.

First off on Jimmie Johnsons spin. Fan-fucking-tastic save. He DID some mighty fine driving to keep that car off the wall.
Second. I was still under the belief that Rudd practiced and qualified it, but Tony will still start it. Rudd qualified it just for pit selection. Tony will have to go to the back to start and hope for an early caution then Rudd will get in and finish the rest of the race. This is what I had heard as of Trackside. Nascar.com still reports it that way too. It says that Tony will try to turn a few practice laps tomorrow. I guess we'll see though. Great qualifying effort by Rudd. I doubt anything will come of it. First, it's not uncommon to take
the stuff off before coming in to speed up the process and second,
Rudd has gone a lap down now. If he had worked his way to the front

He looked good early on, then I had to quit watching and go finish some work I wanted to do at the farm, pissed I missed him fight off Harvick when he was fucking around and to see him bring DEI a win. I still think next year the 1, 8, and 15 are going to be a hell of a group, similar to the 11, 18, and 20

GORDON WINS IN CALI.
Like him or not, he does well on the road courses. Jeff wins
his 9th road victory and 1st of this year. Stewart, another
favorite to win ended up 28th because of a motor going south.
Boris Said was the top "road ringer" coming in 9th.
Great run by Terry Labonte coming in 3rd by stretching fuel
mileage way further than anyone thought possible.
The top 3 in points stayed the same but Gordon is now in
8th and Denny Hamlin drops out of the top 10.

No shit about the commercial breaks, just wait now that NBC is back, it'll be worse. That's why I have Nascar in Car, no commercials and while it's not in HD it allows me to watch the whole race uninterupted. Nice to see Smoke win, Jr could've had a good car but there was a ton of talk on his in car after the race with Tony Jr about how they just couldn't hit the track bar and air pressures right, and he sounded more than a little pissed about it. Still even with the 13th place finish he's up to 3rd in points and he did gain some ground on JJ. Feel for Labonte, had a great car just to get wrecked by JJ. And yes Kyle Busch is a Shitdick but no matter how hard Kurt tries to change his image he will be NASCARS third biggest asshole behind Johnson and Gordon. Its going to take a major event for Kurt to ever become a fan favorite. Some one will have to Royally Screw him over like Rusty did to Darrell in the 89 All Star Race. Alan Kulwicki did his first polish victory lap at Phoenix in 1988 to the disdain of NASCAR, driving backwards on the track..even after all of the other cars were off the track..was something that hadn't been done before. After the NAPA 500 at Atlanta in 1992 when he won the Cup, it was very warmly recieved by everyone...fans..NASCAR...me...
Now it's a common occurance after races. Rusty Wallace won the NAPA 500 in 1993 and Earnhardt won the Cup (the same year Kulwicki was killed on his way to Bristol). The 2 and 3 cars side by side, holding 28 (Davey Allison) and 7 (Kulwicki) flags out the window was one of the most emotional victory laps in NASCAR history.....and drivers still do it.
Edwards flips,
Harvick does the smokiest burnouts,
and Tony climbs the fence onto the flagstand....let it be.
With the onset of the COT with the jap/spic/colored spoilers on the backs, we need to hold on to these traditions.
and I like Benny. always have. He's been made to be more of a 'grandfatherly clown' on NBC/TNT...but he was great on the ABC/ESPN telecasts.

I don't mind Bergren, but it seems like the only reason he's still there is because he's been there forevery. The Fox guys aren't bad, but I'd bring Bestwick over to it and fuck NBC. NASCAR may not like the unique victory celebrations, but they will continue to allow them as it draws the fans in and makes the fans feel like the drivers are just like them. Nascar and Hockey are the two sports IMO that still allow shit like that and it should never change.

They do a terrible job of reporting on the race anyway but then when they do they just sound like a bunch of dopes. Especially when they don't even know how to pronouce the names of the drivers. TNT is still gonna have racing but only a few in the summer.
I found the breakdown of next years TV package
NASCAR expands its relationship with News Corp as FOX becomes the official home of the Daytona 500. FOX’s broadcast agreements for the NFL Playoffs, the Super Bowl, the Bowl Championship Series and American Idol provide an excellent opportunity for cross promotion around the Daytona 500 held each year in mid-February. The deal also includes a brand-new comprehensive multi-media distribution program which includes Internet, wireless and broadband platforms. “FOX is extremely excited to extend its relationship with NASCAR for another eight years, and come 2007 be known as the official television home of the Daytona 500, by far the most watched auto race in this country,” said FOX Sports President Ed Goren. “Our production team has done an amazing job over the last five years to put NASCAR broadcasts on par with America's most popular sports, and we look forward to pushing the production envelope further as we move forward.”
SPEED will increase NASCAR programming as the continuing exclusive home for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as well as the new home for the Gatorade Duels, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Pit Crew Challenge and NASCAR Nextel Cup Series All-Star Challenge.
NASCAR looks forward to continued great exposure and coverage of the sport from TNT, which will be entering its 22nd year with NASCAR, the longest continuous relationship of any media company with the sport. TNT will broadcast six consecutive races in the middle of the season including the July 4th weekend extravaganza, the Pepsi 400 from Daytona.
ABC and ESPN will provide comprehensive coverage of NASCAR on their numerous outlets. The final 17 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series events will be broadcast on ABC or ESPN with the last 10, the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, on ABC. All NASCAR Busch Series races will be broadcast on ABC, ESPN or ESPN 2. In addition, ESPN will bring NASCAR coverage to its full suite of media including its cable TV networks, ESPN360, Mobile ESPN, ESPN.com and affiliated international networks throughout the world. “This agreement totally embraces NASCAR’s multimedia future,” said George Bodenheimer, ESPN Inc. and ABC Sports president and co-chairman of Disney Media Networks. “NASCAR is a strong and growing property, and the ESPN of the 21st century – an array of new media platforms and content outlets reaching fans wherever and however they consume sports – will take the sport to even higher levels of exposure and growth. ABC Sports first exposed sports fans to the racing excitement of NASCAR in the 1960s, and ESPN and the sport grew up together in the 1980s and ‘90s. Our tradition is rich, and our future is bright. To NASCAR, its drivers and fans we say, ‘Welcome back.”
“NASCAR thanks NBC for its stellar coverage and commitment to the sport for the past five years and looks forward to another great year in 2006,” Glover concluded.

UPS is following DJ over to MWR, not a big shocker there, and if NAPA is following Mikey, then who's going to drive the Burger King car? I'd find it hard to believe either UPS or NAPA would be happy sharing primary sponsorship on a car.

big deal for both the team and Dale. Since he has stated that he isn't
planning on racing for alot longer it really shows how much UPS likes
being associated with DJ. You can bet this is really pissing off Yates.

Gordon is a douche, and you could tell when AB was talking to him after that he wrecked him on purpose. Not a big deal, Kenseth will get him later, that's a given. If Jr and his crew could've made a few changes midway through they could've won the damn thing, he was flying there.

Kenseth did let up a bit when he was under Mears, but not enough that would have prevented Gordon from letting up as well in time. He had the faster car and could've passed him easily the next lap. During the Victory Lane interview Gordon basically said "He didn't mean to wreck me at Bristol, and I didn't mean to wreck him here" The guy is a hell of a driver, but he is a little shitdick with his attitude.

I think that Juan Montoya or what ever his name is, is in for a rude awakeing when he steps up from "gokarts" to the big boy league. I think once he enters bristol cocky and smug he will leave asking Ramone for help finding his car because it will be stuck in the wall.
As for the hole/cunt. Danicunt Patrick I don't think she can cut it in nascar either. She has not won a race in IRL so what makes her think she can come to NASCAR and do any better. Shes here for the money... WHORE. They will send her packing her sweet ass back to where ever she came from.
Ballbuster1
07-11-2006, 08:53 PM
Montoya's only stock-car experience came in 2003 when he and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon "exchanged" race cars for an exhibition at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Montoya drove Gordon's Chevrolet while Gordon took a spin in Montoya's F-1 car.
I remember watching the special on this. Gordon did great in the F-1 car
and Montoya didn't fare so well in Gordon's car. I'm sure he'll need a
big learning curve to compete in Nascar.
Then there were reports of Danica Patrick considering a move to Nextel Cup from Indy Racing League team Rahal-Letterman Racing.
She really hasn't been a stand out in IRL except for the fact that she's
a woman. I don't see her doing that well in Nascar either.
They are both doing it for the cash. Nascar is now the big money sport.

Yup. F-1 just doesn't have the following in the US that Nascar does.

Benny and wally are not qualifed to call the drag race across the border of illegal immagrants. Erin Crocker is the new hole of NASCAR she drives trucks and some busch(hold your naughty thoughts you crazy kids) and ARCA, Dodge and Betty Crocker pump a lot of money in to her.(Insert your woman doing woman's work jokes here) But they also have a minority program so blacks, and mexicans can steal... i mean drive race cars in NASCAR
That other hole i can't think of her name either, but her husband changes tires for Dale JR.
Calbucfan1

Everytime I have seen Erin Crocker race she is causing a wreck. I still love it when JR blasted Shawna Robinson after she wrecked him at Texas a few years back, nothing about her being a woman but you could tell that is what he wanted to say.
As for Danica I don't think she could cut it in Nextel Cup or even Busch since most of the time Cup guys are driving Busch. She never contends for a win in IRL so what makes her and her dad think she would even be in the running. If she came to Nextel Cup she would be in the back with Derrike Cope.

That sucks for Yates, but c'mon, his team hasn't been really competitive in awhile so it's no wonder why both driver's bailed. I don't think swapping Mayfield for Sadler will do any good for either group. Might be time that RYR fades into the background that the Wood Brothers is pretty much in and some of the new Toyota teams take their place.

I don't know Yates might have a card or two up his sleeve... i would not count them out... not yet anyhow. I just think that he got behind when everyone else was doing experimental work, they were doing the same ole thing and doing a great job at it. But it has caught up to them.
Mayfield is the most overrated driver in the garage area today well him and Brian Vickers and Casey Mears. Atleast mayfield has won a few races.
Sutsu
07-22-2006, 12:18 PM
I don't think Mears is as overrated as Vickers. He's got talent, I just don't think that Ganassi ever really had a good NASCAR program. IRL, sure, good stuff. But not NASCAR.
Vickers, the real test I think will be when he's more the headliner with the Toyota team he'll be with (Red Bull was it?) I mean, he's the small guy in the Hendrick organization, and even when Labonte left they replaced him with Shrub who, while he's an ass, he is a decent driver from a big name of drivers in today's sport, so he's always been the little tagalong guy. Maybe when he breaks out he'll do better... but I'm not going to hold my breath for him.

I see Yates as the RCR from 2002-2005. RCR went through a number of mediocre years and they have it turned around now. Yates will do the same, especially with Robert turning more of the "boss" duties over to his son so he can be more involved with the engines and chassis. Yates will be back, it'll just take a while, same as RCR.

ah let the smoke bashing begin.... i tell ya that crash was his fault he did wrong but i can't blame him for doing it. The pressure of the chase is hard and its ever harder for a defending champion not to make the race so when some rookie (who i like very much ) does not give him enough room that earily in the race i can see where he would snap.... and I never liked Carl Edwards... hes too humble if that is possible, and he did not handle him self that well either

I have watched him for a while and something that just bugs the shit out of me. Why does he squint so much when he is talking. ANd he is a big baby, everytime he crashes he throws a tantrum like his father used to do. Only worse.
What does anyone else think.
He's a little too uptight like his dad was/is, but I think he's going to have a future at the cup level. You think his squinting is bad, watch Burton when they interview him, he squints/frowns at least once a minute, it drives me nuts.

House cleaing at Yates.
Seems Yates fired both of his crew chiefs so that puts the searching up to
2 drivers
2 crew chiefs
1 sponsor
lots of talent
maybe if he got rid of those damned fords and get a toyota or dodge he might be able to do something
the Germans and Japs are coming zig high

Yeah, looks like Yates is going for a complete make over for next year.
I guess he needs to do something big to get things going in
the right direction again.

It's an all Childress front row with Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer
getting the first two spots in Indy. Kurt Bush and Kasey Khane make
up the 2nd row. Mikey Waltrip failed to qualify, so I guess he'll try
and buy his way into the race like he did earlier this year.

Maybe since he owns Bill Elliots 00 he'll just change the paint scheme and number and run that. He wouldn't have to pay for that either. Pretty decent 26th place starting spot for that car as well.

Possible, but he did tell TNT that he will not buy his way in this time. I know the 00 is his car, but I can't see him telling Elliott that he won't run sunday.

I saw that as well, but I don't think he'd buy RYR. I could see him partnering up iwith Yates and making it Martin-Yates or some shit, but I really don't think Martin would just step in and buy the whole team. That's a ton of capital to come up with and with his close ties to Roush, a partnership seems more realistic.

Among the drivers who didn't make the field was two-time Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip, who also failed to qualifying for the Coca-Cola 600 in May at Charlotte. Waltrip bought a ride in that race from Derrike Cope, who had qualified for the field.
This time, Waltrip most likely will spend his Sunday afternoon in the TV booth, working as part of TNT's announcing team.
That's from CNN/SI.com. I haven't heard of any changes being
made so I guess it's probably the best bet.

Even if Waltrip ran the 00 car, he's got his obligations to Burger King to run their paint scheme for this race. Sucks for him, this has just been one loooooong year. Him in the TV booth might be interesting, might actually make it watchable.
Mmm.... now I'm hungry damnit.

nah hes not driving, he said it on tnt today. He will be in the booth, like he said he can't get any owners points and now his chance for the top 35 is shot so he could careless. He knows with his current equipment he can't win a race if he was the only car in it. But next year with Toyota i think he will do much better and might win one or two. maybe non restricted.
Bill will drive the burger king car because he needs someone other than himself to shake down the car and the team and tell him what he needs. he knows what he needs but if someone who is a former champ and a damn good driver himself can throw in something michael might have missed it wil lbe better.

Having Mikey in the booth tomorrow should definately make it better to watch. I love listening to him. I'm a big Mikey fan. Started in his DEI days and I still like him. I really hope next year he and his team get things turned around and get back to running up front.

I started liking Waltrip a few years back when, in a postrace interview after he and Jimmie Johnson got tangled up, he said "I'll still shop a Lowe's for quality home improvement goods if you still come to NAPA for quality auto parts."
I immediately did my best impression of Opie screaming "YOU WHORE!"

I'm going to the Dover Chase race later this year, and I have a pit pass so I definately want to get a few goodies autographed by him. If I can see him, Mark Martin, Jr, Smoke and tell Gordon or either of the Busches to piss off (from a distance), I'll be a happy redneck.

Johnson pulls off a victory after a bad start from a
blown tire on lap 39. Harvick & Kenseth both had good
cars but couldn't catch Johnson for the win.
Late pit strategy kept JR in the top 10 and moved him
back into the Chase hunt.

Well, I've watched half the race so far and holy shit did Jr have a shitty ass car in traffic. I was happy to see Gordon have a shitty day, but it really sucks that JJ won, I really see him taking it all this year. The shittiest part about that is I've finally got my tickets ordered for the all 3 races at Homestead, and the last thing I want to watch is JJ hoist the trophy. The only thing that pisses me off about Homestead tickets is I can't find any pit passes for it, there are some for sale on Front Row tickets, but I think they may be pre race passes, but I want passes for the practice and qualifying sessions.

I don't know if they have ever sold practice pit passes, but ive never heard about it or thought much about it for that much. Yeah it would suck but atleast hopefully you will see harvick lift the busch cup.
Jr got on to the team again about the shit car. This weekend we will find out if he has what it takes to make it or will he fall out again

Edwards needs to get a thicker skin. He's got a long way to go in
his career and he doesn't want to end up like the Busch brothers.
Their bullshit has made them both look like assholes.

I am one of the few who hates carol edwards, I think he is overly humble.... a fake humble if you will. I do hope he ends up like gordon or the buschs.
Someone might get suspended and points will be lost but Pride is forever and the fans never forget an asswhipping. I see one coming at Bristol or Richmond, or martinsville( i hope its martinsville oh please be martinsville) But Carl will go after tony and try to knock him out of the chase and if he does. the shit will hit the fan.
Cases in point. The 1979 Daytona 500 the first race ever to be broadcast live, who won? no one remembers that Richard Petty won, But we all remember the fight at the end between the Donnie and Bobby Allison and Cale Yarborough.
There was a fine of like 1,000 each but it was out of their system and they went on to next weeks race at Richmond.
NASCAR will not do that now sadly, They will be pussies and probably suspsend and fine people for fighting on television, something that made the sport what it is today will be shunned.
But i do hope tony kicks his ass... to teach that rookie a lesson

Word on NASCAR.com is that Mayfield will be replaced by Bill Elliot (http://www.nascar.com/2006/news/headlines/cup/08/08/jmayfield_belliott/index.html) this weekend for the Watkins Glen race. Given that Mayfield's fallen out o fthe top 35 in owner points, and not guaranteed a spot if I'm not mistaken, this is a good move by Evernham to keep that team in the races but definately shows that Mayfield is on the outs and could be out sooner than later.
Personally, I never saw that much talent to Mayfield. He's been lucky the last two seasons sneaking into the chase, but his luck ran out this year.

Ray's gotta do his best to try and get his team back up into the
top 35. I can't blame him for doing what he has to. It's very
obvious to everyone that Mayfield is gone very soon. I doubt that
they will stay together thru the end of the season.

what is really funny about that Mayfield deal is that Bill Elliott should have gotten a Champions Provisional but since they got their entry blank in late. Ole Awesome Bill won't get one.

Maybe they'll let Martin run it the rest of the year or him and Junior will share time in the car. Any time I get to watch either of them race more I"m a happy camper.

Highly doubtful. After what happened to him in that road race practise two years ago, Bud has probably no intentions of letting their golden boy do anything more than he absolutely has to outside of a Nextel cup race.
Bill may not have gotten his Champ's provisional, but I doubt that he'll have too much trouble getting into the show. The
