the first time, we just brought it in to fix the lightbulb near my gear switch. when i got my car back all the wires from my xm car kit were wrapped around the console case where the ac/radio/etc. is. so we brought it back, because they said they would fix that free of charge (the wires were going through he console, out the glovebox, the person obviously didn't know what the fuck they were doing). they wrapped it around the console in a way that the casing just couldn't snap back in. So I went there again today, and told them to unwrap the wiring and put the console casing back the way it was before I ever set foot in their God foresaken shop. When I got it back they had snapped the mounting station for the XM receiver from the vent that it was mounted on. I told them this was the second time and asked for the manager. They gave me the manager's card and said they would reimburse me completely for what they broke.

Of course, I didn't notice the rest until I tried to turn my XM on. They bunched up the remaining wires behind my ashtray, half-heartedly snapped the console back in, and CUT THE ANTENNA WIRE. I'm pretty sure it wasn't an accident TWICE.

i would have to say one fo two things happened. whan he snapped it back together it severed the wire or he saw the excess wire hanging and snipped it and tucked it away...good luck bro with the dealer replaciing.

They are already fighting reimbursing me after they had ALREADY SAID they would. Too bad I have pictures and witnesses. I went back today and they tried to make it look like I DID it myself. Oh and it's not installed INTO the car, it's a car kit, so I take my receiver out of the boom box in my room, and mount it into the kit in my car. So I still have regular radio, I just put it on a certain station and it gives me XM through the lighter thingy majigy.

the antenna wire is actually pretty easy to fix...even for a girl:icon_wink

if you look at the wire it has a black outer coating, a mesh metal second layer, then a plastic coating, and finally a thin silver wire.

strip back about half inch of black coating on bother sides

twist off the metal mesh second layer on both sides so you have half inch or so on both sides

strip off plastic sheathing from thin silver wire on both sides

twist together metal mesh

twist together thin silver wire

cover each with tape so the mesh and thin silver dont touch

tape the whole thing and hide where ever you can under dash


i broke mine like the third day i had it (tripped over it) and i'm still using the same wire 10 months later....
