Ron and Fez isn't the easiest show to describe to new listeners. So what's your favorite way to explain it to others?
One way I like to describe it is as NPR with a sense of humor and talent. Another is that if O&A is the frathouse, R&F is that dorm room with the pot smoke.
So what about you, what are some ways you like to talk about the buddies.

I like Uncle Inky's description, but I only pass on to friends that I think are smart enough to get it..then I tell them Ron is a genious, and they need to spend some time listening to these guys..

I think you put it very well.
Love both shows.

They are flat out, dry comedy at its best.
You have to listen to Ron, a caller starts talking, about the most off the wall shit, and Ron is always an expert on it. Even if its made up. He is great. And Fez plays to it perfectly.
They take time to "get", but once you do, its some classic shit, daily.

It's a very different show than o&a, the humor is much drier agreed. But once you get used to the show, you won't want to miss one.

Ron and Fez = imagine a funny radio show that doesn't need to remind you how funny they are - no one laughing in the back ground - no one patting themselves on the back - no one caring if you get something or not - no one tearing down another show (except Bill Oreily) to make themselves feel better - imagine the funniest radio show ever, and then get over it and just listen if you want.
OnA r like the the cool kids at school, and RnF r thier parents. just as cool, only a lil older.
Except they are all the same age.
Odd.

Ron kills me on a daily basis with his humour. He's the best man in the business to me. But it's very dry and subtle most of the time, so new people probably won't notice it since the show doesn't quite have the "laugh track" humour O&A does. Ronnie could say something that would make my gut hurt from laughter and the studio will stay quiet. That's just their style, and it's hard to describe to others. He and Fez just fit so well together, they are a great duo.
Not saying O&A's way is bad or anything, I love it as well, but when someone makes a killer joke you're fucking going to know about it :icon_lol:
Also R&F just seem to entertain me more consistently, I rarely have to change the channel with them. It's easy listening, the pot analogy was spot on.

Yeah - when I hear "Star Jones Renolds" reading "Shine," I think "That is some dry comedy."

I agree.. With O and A, I often check out some music when they do the "what's in my pants", or porn star type stuff..also the big A and twitchel, stuff, not my type of humor to just goof on people's disabilities.(even if the people don't mind) Ron and Fez just seem to consistently be funny without having to go down that road, or make it sound like they are just filling time..

Alot of good descriptions here. As above stated, you will not want to miss one. Most of the participants on Talkradiofans (R.I.P.) are contributors here. You can crave both shows.

I always tell people it's like watching The Office or Extras. Funny as Hell without the laugh track to tell you when to laugh.

I prefer to think of it like an aural speedball.
Opie & Antony = the cocaine
Ron & Fez = the heroin
Both really good, just in different ways.:icon_cool

Good call on the absence of embelished laughter. If you don't need to be cued to when something is funny then this is appreciated. I saw one of Tom Leykis' shows broadcasted years back where he would turn his head away from the guest into the microphone and give a fake laugh. Very insulting. The fakeness of the laughter with the Cosmic Circus is kind of funny though.

i see it as the "arrested development" of radio... but then again, maybe that's not a good one.

In many ways 202 is like Comedy Central from 11-12. O+A is the flagship show, The Daily Show (with bits of Tough Crowd thrown into it)*. But, anyway, the humor is more obvious, blatant. It's still funny but it's more accessible to a far wider audience. The topics are broader and it shoots over a far larger spectrum.
Then right after comes R&F/The Colbert Report. The Colbert Report is a bit of a niche audience, the humor is more esoteric and intelligent, but stranger, more sarcastic, more intimate and a lot of people might not understand it. But those that do get it like it more. Even the tones are similar where, if you don't get it, you feel like you want to be brought inside. This continues until your more excited about what comes on next than what comes on first.
*Of course the fact that I've reference Daily Show in a positive way will make this point, and any others I may ever make, completely wrong to the vast majority of wackbaggers.
