I am a total noob to the world of MMORPGs, and if you are and have a 360, you can join the beta which has the full version of the game as well as the expansions for FREE if you buy the new Official Xbox Magazine. I figured, a free game with no subscription fees is a good game for me to learn on. Does anyone else on here play?

Right now I am kinda clueless on what to do, but I need to go buy a USB wireless keyboard before I try too hard to get in on this game, as there seems to be a lot of type-chatting involved.

I played for a little while on the PS2 version, enough to get acquainted with the online universe. You had best be prepared to spend A LOT of time with your character - this isn't something you can take a half hour each day when you have some spare time. For you to even attempt to get somewhere in the game, you have to fight enemies for hours on end, and be very careful about picking your fights - if you die, you can hope someone who comes along is nice enough to raise you form the dead, or respawn at a checkpoint but take a big EXP cut in the process.

It's a hell of a lot of fun in the end, provided you have the time for it.

I'm pretty sure it is. but you also get demos of Call of Duty 2, Stubbs the Zombie, Half Life 2, Winning Eleven with it.

I played FFXI for a year. At the end I was a level 34 Red Mage who couldn't find a group to play with. The game is not playable if you cannot group and you have to level grind in order to get anywhere in the game. Good in-game music though.

I gave up on this on PS2. Gonna give it another go on 360 though.

just a little anectdote to tell you how much this game sucks:

when it came out for the PS2 i purchased it and tried to play it. normally when i play a video game my daughter (who was 2 at the time i got the game) would be like a retard staring at a ferris wheel but with FFXI it would put her to sleep. i used to pop it on when the kid got too crazy because i knew that within 3 minutes she'd be out cold. worked like a charm everytime!

other people have already mentioned that the game is definitely a major time consumer.....you have to build up your character and go on quests......form parties and all that other bullshit.

do yourself a favor break the disk into a million pieces and play a game that's actually fun to play.

You have to have MASSIVE amounts of time to progess past 50. I played this for over a year on the Bahamut server as a Thief, one of the least wanted party members in early levels. You have to have about 6-8 hours at a clip to party or you will not progress. I gave up and will probably sell my character and/or equipment

PS- if you get killed at early levels, you don't lose xp from home pointing (I believe its up to level 5), so don't bother waiting to get revived.

took me 3 hours to dl and get the fucking FF to work on my 360, after of which i played it for 10 mins and deleted it. It takes up too much space like 5 gig.

I got in on the Beta for the PS2 and ended up getting the released version and the hard drive for free. Played the game for a couple months or so before giving up because it progressed way too fucking slow. Just ddn't have the time to devote myself to it.

Yeah, like you guys, I installed this, it took up my entire hard drive, I played a few days, it's not awful but i definitley do not have the time to invest in this game right now. is there an easy way of deletion?

jpc165

it is not that easy to delete. it looks like you have to reformat the hard drive from the system menu.. that would suck if thats the case. anyone else able to delete this shit game without reformating the hardrive.

is there a normal final fantasy coming out for xbox 360? F these MMORG things. who the fuck has time for this shit??? ..besides the unemployed and those without friends/girlfriends??? Answer me that batman

I'm scared of the changes they made. Fuck real time, bring back by turn based RPGs.
