If you have a Mac, do a Google search for Handbrake. Works wonders.

Some of my Mac friends pointed me to this video converter. It's called iSquint and will convert most video files to the one supported by the iPod video. So now you can download all those video files from Foundry and convert them for viewing on your iPod video. Right now, I am converting the Pat from Moonachie cribs episode to view on my train ride to work. One of my PC buds recommended PQDVD. Not sure of it's functionality, but my friend has been using it to "archive" his DVD's.
