Always looking forward to a relaxing, yet stimulating day of good talk from the buddays.
I've been pitching rnf to a few friends, with perhaps the best metaphor I heard, describing the difference between the bboys and the buddays.
Forgot who said it, but something to the effect of "If ONA are the college fraternity house, rnf is that one smokey room where all the cheeba smoke is coming from"
Morning too APP, Miss ONA listeningthread posting APP.

Chinese has changed so little in 2,500 years that you can read documents from thousands of years ago with no problem.
However, the way that their language cannot be easily put on a typewriter keyboard, or easily printed (a Chinese typist can barely manage 12 words a minute, and a printer's block set contains over 5,000 characters) has held them back.

I go with Batman. He's smarter, he has cooler shit. I always hated that Superman had everything given to him and doesn't need to think. I like smart people, Superman just seems dumbish.
Embarassing fact of the day: I watch Smallville.
I like Batman but I'm a Marvel guy.
What'd you think of the "Aquaman" episode????
LiddyRules
01-19-2006, 02:27 PM
The Aquaman episode was a load of shit that totally brought Lex Luthor a lot more out of character than he's ever been. I can't believe they're making an Aquaman spinoff show.
And I don't think Smallville is a great show, just a nice little distraction. But that Aquaman episod was horrible. The other shows are really good though and for the sake of honesty, I like Angel too.
BTW, Simpsons kicks Family Guy's ass by a mile.

Batman.
The Dark Knight Returns... still one of my favorite --anythings--, ever.
deeply impacted my young psyche.
Agreed... that, Watchmen, V For Vendetta, and the Frank Miller Daredevils blew me away to the possibilities of comics in the '80's.
Batman is one of the more versitile Superheroes, BECAUSE he has no powers. But for his obsessions, he could be one of us.
I heartily recommend the many "Elseworld" stories featuring Batman, especially "In Darkest Knight" (Bruce Wayne becomes a Green Lantern), The one where batman himself becomes a vampire, "Gotham by Gaslight" where batman and Sherlock Holmes work together in the 1880's, and so many more.

It's not a good show Portable, it's a nice distraction. I'm not saying it's reinventing the wheel. It's stupid enough to keep me busy for an hour. I'm not saying it's brilliant. The vampire one was stupid, as was any episode with Kryptonite really but it's a stupid show but I'm kind of used to it.
The only show that can hold a candle to Simpsons in its heyday is the current episodes of South Park.

Marvel was the first to tread heroes "realistically" courtesy of Stan Lee, but I like both companies. It depends on the writers whether I would like a comic book or not. Grant Morrisson wrote some amazing X-Men story arcs, but his Justice League stories were good too.

Well, yeah, I'll agree that nothing of import happened until issue 7, but what happened in Issue 7 was huge and new (and needed in my opinion).
DC, however, is going back to the crisis well yet again with pretty much the same storyline, but in reverse.
Also, issue 3 of crisis was one of the worst piles of random crap i've ever read. Issue 4 was decent though, as I really dug the superboy v. teen titans stuff.
