I mentioned earlier that it is the writers that do it for me.

Garth Ennis wrote Preacher for DC, and Punisher and Nick Fury for Marvel, and they are both incredible.

Although, to its credit, Marvel was the first to treat heroes "realistically" courtesy of Stan Lee in the early 1960's.

Batman is overall my favorite, but for likeability, I have always enjoyed Spider-Man.

There is proof.

More than once, there have been stories about Superman losing his powers, and getting his ass kicked by Batman.

The caller right now is discussing the "Red Son" graphic novel, where Superman grows up on a collective farm in the Ukraine, and is raised with Communist values. He becomes Ioseph Vissarianovich Stalin's right hand man, and makes the whole world except for the USA safe for Communism.

The Russian version of Batman manages to trick Superman into going under red-sun lighting where he loses his powers, and Bats kicks his ass.

Luthor runs the USA, and manages to kill Superman through trickery.

Byrne's story arc where the Invisible Girl became the evil Malice was amazing...it showed readers who the most powerful member of the Fantastic Four was, by far.

Thrillkiller? Don't know that one. What is the premise?

I remain woefully ignorant of figures. There would be some good ones from that, like the Hal Jordan in the flight suit, the Batmanikov in the fur cap, the Wonder Woman with the double-eagle bra, the Grey Superman, etc.

Batman is NOT cold-hearted...the key to the character is how much he cares about making sure that what happened to him never happens to anyone else. That is the driving force of the character.

where is Blade on that list he's technically a comic book hero

Blade was in the large-format black and white books that Marvel made in the 1970's to compete with Warren's Creepy, Eerie, Vampirella, etc. Along with titles like The Rampaging Hulk, Amazing Adventures, Conan Untamed, Dracula, etc, they were never meant to share continuity with the rest of the Marvel Universe.

The truth is, I just forgot about him in my list.

Plus, the phrase "I will stop now," implies that there are many more, but I was getting tired.

The costume was terrible, but when she unleashes her invisibility powers as a big ball of spikes on Reed Richards when he stretches around her, and the panel's only dialogue is Reed screaming "AAAAAAAAARHG!" is great.

Where did you get that avatar of what looks like an amime Gambit?

I think it was listed as one of the standard avatars here. Sadly, I couldn't find a captain america or hulk that I liked, so I had to go with this one. I think it was from one of the marvel fighting video games.

I had a good 15 year fun of nearly every Marvel and DC title, and I liked that mid-80's run of FF.

I had always thought that being able to make any shape you wanted with the power of your mind was the most powerful ability of any of the FF.
