Anyone fucking loving the DS as much as I am? I haven't had this much fun with a console since Dreamcast (PS2/GC/Xbox gen was disappointing to me).

Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Trauma Center, Mario & Luigi, Viewtiful Joe, Sonic Rush, Advance Wars, Meteos..

It's just God damn great. Can't wait to pick up Resident Evil and Princess Peach (yes, bitches, Princess Peach) next month.

I didn't even know that they were making a resident evil game. I'm glad to see more games coming out for DS. Have you ever played the yoshi game multi-player? I played it for hours on end at work, it's so much fun.

Sonic is pretty damn hard. My girlfriend is at the last boss though, so it isn't impossible. The Special Stage for the Chaos Emeralds is just like the old Sonic 2 stage on Genesis, if you remember that, where Sonic is running through a tube grabbing rings and avoiding spikes, except now you use the touch screen to control him.

Yeah, Resident Evil: Deadly Silence comes out next month. It's a port of the original PSX game to celebrate the game's 10th annviersary, except it has a remixed mode along with the original mode (which I hear includes the original cheezy live action scenes, haha), and a new multiplayer mode. If it sells good, they're going to do an original RE for DS.

And nah, I haven't played Yoshi yet. One of the few games I still need to pick up. I figure it should drop to 20 bucks anytime now, so I'm just waiting.

Sonic isn't hard as in difficulty, more like frustration. I could not tell you how pissed i got at the last few Sonic Emerald levels with the stylus. I ended up doing them the "easy" way.

Ossu! Tatakae! Ouendan! (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/aosj/175r/index.html) is reportedly one of the most popular titles at the moment in Japan and is one of the biggest selling imports on the system. The game is a sort of DDR-ish rhythm game entirely in Japanese but due to the simplicity of it you dont need to know the language. You are part of a group of male cheerleaders (yes) that go around tokyo helping the average guy with sometimes wacky, sometimes embarrassing (incontinence) and sometimes average (winning a maidens hand which is shown in the movie in the link I've posted) problems. Suppsedly its extremely addictive and very fun with some great music (the song in the movie by Japans 175r will stick in your heads for days)

I'm sick of hearing friends rave about it so this may be the game that gets me to pick up a DS.

Nintendo really knows how to do a portable system. I have a PS2 and Gamecube collecting dust for MONTHS, but I'll always pick up my GBA if I'm bored.

If I was to get any new gaming system, fuck the XBOX 360, fuck the PS3 and fuck whatever Nintendo has for a console. I'd get a DS all the way.

its bulky and ugly, but the games are great and the free wifi has alot of potential.

animal crossing, mario kart, castlevania, kirby, meteos, mario&luigi all really top shelf games. And you aren't going to get whacky shit like trauma center elsewhere.

the upcoming redesign should be pretty cool, 2/3 the size, very slick looking.

DS is so much more fun than PSP. There is no comparison. PSP is cooler looking and can play overpriced movies. DS has a lot of really fun games. The hardware is kinda bulky and ugly but whatever, it works fine for me.

I dunno, maybe I have been pissing away time but I have blown thru the levels on normal mode, I beat like 7 worlds with sonic and 5 with blaze. Maybe it'll get impossible the last few levels or maybe there are many more worlds and it just seems easy now.

There is no working emulator that will run commercial games, at least not yet. The only way to run commercial games is get a storage unit for your DS and run the roms on there.

Emulators on the PC can run homebrew games though.

its not that bad, one of the items in 4 player is burning blocks with make your opponents blocks fall really fast, so the spin gives you time to get in in place but its stuck in that spot, its not constant, you get a few spins and then its locked in place. I think the real purpose it because in standard single player the levels are infinite so the blocks end up on the top of your pile witout you even seeing them fall, without the spin you wouldnt be able to get past level 30

I picked it up today. Holy shit it's fun but the fucking wifi isn't working in it. It works perfectly with Mario Kart and Metroid though...

they have a few problems, i get disconnected every now and then, i also get a message when i first try to connect that im connecting to an access point but not to nintendo wifi, so im pretty sure its on their end, i just shut the system off and try connecting again, eventually it does, the only thing you can really do is check the error codes in nintendowifi.com

I tried the M:H demo, but i just couldn't get used to the controls. I'd be more intrested in Tetris DS but.. it's Tetris. Only 2 games i was good at were Tetris on the 64 and Tetris Attack... boy i'm dating myself. :icon_eek:

You need to use the thumbstrap with Hunters to really get comfortable with it. I've had the game since launch, and I still can't use the button mode or stylus but can aim perfectly with the thumbstrap.

I think it has something like Metroid's Rival Radar. You can put your system on Sleep and walk around and it will tell you if someone is nearby with Nintendogs running.

Probably a much more effective way to find another player in Japan, not so much in the US...

You need a compatible wireless router (you can find a list on nintendowifi.com) and a Wi-fi capable game. There is a great tutorial on nintendowifi.com as well.

If you want to compete online against really, really good players, you're gonna have to learn to snake. I never got good at it, so that's why I gave up on Mario Kart and started kicking ass in Metroid.

Snaking is basically power boosting constantly instead of just on turns. It takes a lot of practice to get good at, but you're going to own anyone who doesn't know how to do it once you do. It's very easy to do with Yoshi's egg kart or Dry Bones' tank.

Well, when you do it on turns, it's not called snaking, it's just power boosting. (yes I realize I sound like I'm lecturing :p)

It turns into snaking when people use it where it wasn't intended to be used. That's why I only like playing locally with friends, and because you can play Battle Mode locally :icon_conf

I've been playing lost magic and its a great game. Very addictive. It uses the stylis(sp?) alot. It actually just uses the L button, D pad and the stylis.

with brain age i scored an 80 when i initially played it and it pissed me off being that i'm 34. i have been playing multiple times daily since i got it and i have lowered my brain age down to 21. granted it's just a game but this shit will make you work harder to get a lower brain age.

same goes for big brain academy......the main difference is instead of telling you how old your brain is it tells you how much your brain weighs.

the library for the DS isn't too shabby and the online dept. is kind of "iffy" but IMO it's worth getting.

The homebrew is actually pretty good. A touch screen keyboard makes things like Linux a breeze on DS. The only real problem is the small amount of RAM on the system.

I traded in my DS for $70 and got the Lite today. It is ridiculous how bright this thing is - instead of the light just being on and off, there are 4 different brightness settings, which I would categorize as dim, bright, halogen lamp and fucking lighthouse. Seriously, that last setting will illuminate an entire room if all your other lights are off.

Personally I'm not that impressed with Animal Crossing, at least not as much as I was with the GameCube version. I'd say save your money for some of the kickass games coming out later this year as AC will eventually become very boring to you, but I suppose that could be said for any game.

I have Nintendogs also (No Homo!) - you can treat these things worse than a nig--- in a Mississippi public school and they'll love you just the same. You can't beat them, but I neglected mine for a month (which my sappy ass actually felt bad for doing) and they'll be only as hungry and thirsty as they were after one day.

Get the DS and get Animal Crossing. You won't have to parent for at least 3 months. It will hook her in and suck her soul away. Just don't play it yourself, or you will be fighting with her over who gets to play it at any given point

I found out why my wifi wasnt working, i only had G enabled on my router. you need B enabled also for the DS to work with it. That said, Tetris DS with touch mode is fun

I'll double check but think mine only came with one. I just get figity sometimes and with super mario since you really don't "need" the stylus (that I've noticed up to world 3 so far), I just keep it in the slot and pull it out, then back in and keep doing that for a while. My own fault but it wore quicker then I thought. I'll definetely pick up one of those metal ones. They look hawt.:icon_cool

I have a Lite and like it alot. I never played a regular DS so I dont 'have any real comparison to give you, but it is a ton better than my ol' Gameboy SP. I showed it to my friend last night and he was floored at the kind of graphics it was giving out with mario64 DS. While not amazing they are better than I expected for most games. Some games it looks like didn't bother/have enough room to do graphics like Lost Magic. That game is fun and all but graphics are boring for the most part...

I havent' played any but the Fifa games look pretty good. I think I sold my friend on getting one based on that alone. Madden looked cool in some screen shots I saw but who knows. I did see a few shots from a imported foothball game from Japan and it looked amazing, if you don't mind the japanese language and it being in anime style. I might consider it...


Edit: I'd recommend against getting burnout revenge for anyone looking at it. As of right now its one of the worst games I've played. Didn't really like the steering and controls. Guess its one of those games better suited to a regular system.

When I boot mine up, the Passkey 3 screen says it's for NDS and NDSL which i would have to assume to be the lite. Just make sure when you order one, you get a passkey that is lite-compatible.

What have you played with it so far. As soon as I mentioned this to my friend he started bugging out saying he'd order it this weekend but he also just found out that datel is selling one that'll be going on sale at best buy this coming week and he was thing about that. The reviews I've been reading have been pretty good but the only things that concern me are the video quality (easy conversion?) and does it play the roms as is, or does it have to convert them to like a .gba file, as I've read some of the media/emulator players do. I won't be able to get this for 2-3 weeks anyway but my friend was really wanting to get it this week if possible.

You have to convert stuff but it comes with all the software you need and the video quality is better than I expected, personally. I'd just go with the M3. I'm sure whatever Datel is trying to sell at Best Buy will just be a media player and WILL NOT boot commercial roms. Almost guarenteed.

i have a ds lite, m3 sd, 1 gig card....i would definately recommend getting an m3 (i use flashme so i dont have to use a passcard) (m3 lite will be out in the not to distant future..but those micro sd cards are a bit pricey yet)...ive just got star fox command today (good controls, kinda lame single player game) and got mario 3 on 3 the other week (one of the best ds games...its so good and easily played without knowing japanese). i also love animal crossing...whod guess a game about paying off your mortgage would be addicting as hell. ive done everything there is to do in mario. ds is definately the best gaming experience i've had since probably snes or the zelda/007 days of the 64...i agree this latest generation on consoles was pretty weak (had a gamecube and a modded xbox), but im highly looking forward to wii.
