Nice pick up. It could possibly be the best overall gaming experience I've ever had. It rules on so many levels. Enjoy!

PS: Castle Battle Hall Level......good luck bro.

i played the Gamecube version too. awesome game, but i'm still kicking myself for buying a GC solely for RE4. they really fucked up by making the main RE series GC-only for that brief period of time, then announcing it was going to be ported on PS2. at least all future RE games will be available on the PS3 (and the XBox 360, but i'm a PS man, myself).

you are insane sir. the GC is an excellent console.

I guess if you are a Madden fan or somehow enjoy console based fps, maybe it isnt a good choice, but there are a shitload of great games.

I have the GC version, and RE4 is so incredibly fantastic I'm still seriously considering getting the PS2 version for the extra stuff and the legit HD presentation. Easily one of the greatest games ever.

For any of you who haven't played it wait for the PC version. The aiming takes a bit of getting used to and having a mouse should make it much easier. Hopefully they'll have tweaked the graphics as well so the already great looking art work can be seen in hi-res

Resurrecting this thread, if only for one post....

I just got this game (Ps2 - finally) last week. I'd been wary of getting it, because I fucking HATED the first three (actually, 2 wasn't that bad), but 4 looked awesome.

I fucking loved it. I couldn't stop playing it.....then...the end level.

Why do video games always have to have that "escape before everything explodes" bullshit? I HATE those goddamned levels...and in this one, a jetski? WTF????

Overall, a great game, but FUCK the wet fart of an ending.

How could you hate the first three RE's?!
Of course the first was clunky and all, but it pioneered the survival horror genre.
RE2 was great. With 2 discs being able to play as either Leon or Claire who went seperate ways was a fantastic feature. The story really sucked me in.
RE3, again, great. Not knowing when Nemesis would attack and the split second decisions you had to make. It made me jump quite a few times.
Did you ever play RE: Code Veronica? I've played both Code Veronica for DC and Code Veronica X for the PS2 (but not for GC). Again, great games.
I'm a HUGE fan though, I even have all the novels. But I know everyone has their own tastes.
Sadly I sold RE4 a few months back because I needed the cash. But will re-purchase it soon to put back in my collection.

I don't know. I had the first one for my PC, and I really thought it was dull.

Like I said before, 2 was ok....but 3...dull.

Never played any of the other ones.

Hopefully, they'll build off of 4 for the next one, maybe change the camera controls, but keep most of it the same.

my sister doesn't like the first three games either, although i think they're classics (the first is clearly the most flawed, but it got the ball rolling, 2 is the best, 3 was pretty much "more of the same" but with slightly better gameplay and Nemesis was the highlight). the camera position on the first three really confused her as far as the controls go. but she can't stop playing 4, the camera view from behind made it much easier for her.
