Ok this might be the wrong place to post this so if it is feel free to move it.
I am new to R & F as they were never syndicated to Boston, and i like the show it is on during my drive home so I listen to it daily, but I have a few questions. And if they are stupid I will freely take the bashing that I deserve.
1. When people call in and spout out a number and then they play the pachino clip, what is the number about?
2. Does Ron purposely run the bits into the ground or is this just a consequence of the way the show runs?
3. WTF is the thing with miss ... when callers call in?

1. Big Ass Card Member, from when they were on WNEW, everyone got a member #
2. I think he runs them into the ground on purpose b/c it's funny again after being run into the ground for too long
3. Miss whom?????

R+F used to give out "Big Ass Cards" the way O&A give out WOW stickers.
The Big Ass Card had "WNEW 102.7" with R+F's time period on them..and each had it's own # on it....so when they got their cards they would "check it" with the "big ass card holder 1017" and lead into the pacino thing.
Also, the Big Ass Cards with the lower numbers showed other fans that you were a fan longer than the "newbies"...so it was a sign of being a "bigger" fan than the guy.
fucking rory never sent me mine back in 2000!

3. WTF is the thing with miss ... when callers call in?
Fez suffered a heart attack last year, and Ron did a week of shows without Fez. During that week, callers would often start their calls with "miss Fez". When Fez returned, the bit continued with different variations (e.g. "miss Soundboard Fez", "miss Soundboard Big A Fez", "miss WNEW Earl")

#2 - I think some of the callers aren't getting it.(I could be very wrong about this) I think it's being run into the ground so the callers could call and yell at Fez and Elfish for the bit running to long.

Indeed, how many times does Fez have to declare his poon-love before the rumors stop? I mean, c'mon-- the guy is plowing the broads nightly, tossing them away afterward in neatly-sorted scrapheaps. He was banging cocktail waitresses two at a time! Case closed!

It comes from the Ron & Ron show. In the mid 1990's some guy called about the Freemasons or the Shriners and claimed that Ma Ha Bone was some sort of super secret code word. So from then on people would call up and say Mahabone.

If you heard Friday's show, Ron said he recently got some fairly threatening e-mails or IMs from someone who wanted "Mahabone" taken of off the old Ron and Ron site (that Ron has nothing to do with), so even now. apparently, it's a touchy situation for some.

about Ron's kids (If anyone has more info please add on):
I think they are in High School or at least Jr. High. I remember when the whole show was "transferred" to just JFK after Infinity blew up NEW, R&F were broadcasting in CBS Radio's studios on 59th street for a while (I remember hearing clips of Ron saying getting to their studios in the basement of the building was like the Cleveland scene in "Spinal Tap"), and I think this was due to Ron having to stay in NYC because he had to wait for his kids to get done with the school year before the official move to the DC area.

Stern openly acknowledged hating Ron and Fez when they were on NEW (though much like Opie and Anthony, he never mentioned them by name) especially after learning that they were of the Ron and Ron Show. One incident in particular was when R&F had a guest (not sure who) that Stern was going to have on the next day and he was pissed about it.
Ron has attacked Stern, though never in an overt fashion (though on Stern's big "walk" from CBS to Sirius, he did lay into him a bit on O&A.) I mean, the whole "Eddie Trunk" bit was a sly jab at Stern. And much funnier than some of the O&A diatribes - though admittedly, I'm a mark for those diatribes.

Well, I may be wrong but I do believe that the contract was up and the Golden Ticket was awarded. For me, as well as other buddies here, it was simply an amazing bonus. XM all the way, That's what I say.

The show is constantly evolving and changing and going to sattelite was the latest move. And it didn't help that WJFK never pushed the R&F Show properly and that Fezzie hated it in Northern Virginia.
All things considered though, I loved them on WJFK.

I remember Stern complaining about NEW being a station full of imitators and saying something like "they even have a gay version of me!"

I am new to R & F as they were never syndicated to Boston.
RonandFez.com used to be syndicated on WTKK 96.9 back around 2000 or so, that's when I first started listening to them.

All Fez is missing is Zebra Pants
Random Question.
I've been listening to RnF for about 5 Months, and every once in a while I'll hear Ron joking mention Stern, or make a joke about how some chick looks like Stern or a Hampton comment.
Did they ever have a relationship in anyway or has Stern ever bashed them or vice versa?
Issues with Stern predate O&A and WNEW by many years - "Ron and Ron" and "Ron and Fez" held down some markets Howard didn't at different times in their careers, and so (as with everyone) they were caught up with the blanket "clone" comments.
Eligant Elliot Offen, a Howard regular, actually got his start back on the old R&R days - videos can be seen on ronfez.net. It's the exact same bit he does now, just down in Florida.
During their time at WNEW, R&F got more vocal about it, along with D&M, and would get the swipes of "station full of clones," etc.
When they came to WJFK, very little was said. Occasionally, Ron would reference something he heard on Howard that morning, as a way to acknowledge that he knew whatever topic they were going into had been discussed on other shows, but of course they would have their own take on it.
About 2 years ago, tho, they layed into Robin Quivers pretty hard when they learned that one of their interns ("Chunks," now with The Hideout) had written a paper on her. It was all in fun, but it (imo) was much more devestating than the simple, dismissive "hole" comments.
When Howard signed his deal with Sirius, R&F (and D&M) made many mentions of Stern's 4 hour commercial for satellite radio - they stopped doing that after a few months.
Not everything they say about Howard since they have been to XM has been negative. I have heard several positive references to "Private Parts," that weren't meant to be obnoxious or trendy. Their constant joking about "Jackie Puppet" is a very funny reference to an old time Stern bit, that is not at all a slam on Howard. In all, I've never got the impression they see themselves as threatened or competetive of him, so the really never seem like they have a beef - O&A can fight their own Pat Battles. Shit they say about him is really not that different from shit said about any other celeb.
In the end, they have friends and foes everywhere - one of the people working closely with Howard is Jeremy Coleman, the man who hired R&F for WNEW - one of the people working on "Bubba The Love Sponge's Show" was supposedly once married to Fez's sister.
Not sure how many more times Ron has to tell people that they are carnies before the rubes really believe it.

Also to add a little to this, Stern and Sirius were trying to hire Ron and Fez at the same time XM was. Stern would be singing their praises had they gone that route, instead he ends up with BubbaSponge. Believe they were approached by Gary at some point and he was kissing their ass at some function.

Ron and Fez dont seem to get into feuds, dunno. Can't see it now but one of the old Ronfez.net frontpages was "The Ronfather" with both Sirius execs and XM execs trying to woo them.

FYI - that front page came from the imagination of former rf.net admin FM Jeff and staff cartoonist fluffernutter, and isn't based on any inside knowledge as to the negotiations R&F might have had. I don't think they've ever said anything publicly about any negotiations with Sirius.

Just end that sentence after the word "fan" and add the word "S." Mikeyboy's connection with the show during WNEW, WJFK and now XM is a great resource for old and new listeners. And what's really awesome about him is his (a) lack of real desire to be on the radio, (b) his devotion to Ron and Fez and the listeners and (c) his lack of ego. So much behind the shit scenes go on that seems seamless that at one time (at least) made it's way through Mikey's digestive tract. He is one of the best fans any show could ever have.

Yeah I just recently found out that they were part of the reason for Larry the cable guy getting so big, every time I hear some redneck say "git r dun" I wanna smack Fez right in the mouth.
Other than that, I think they are the best show on the radio and they did it with some of the worst support staff on the air.

Just speculation but, I'd imagine it had something to do with Infinity not wanting to put anything of substance opposite Howard. Because at that point, R&F had a pretty good fanbase in NY. Plus, I would rather listen to the beeping of Fez's heart monitor than Stern.

Im not sure if it was anything 'of substance'.. but I think Howard had it in his contract that Infinity couldn't put a show that goes after his audience (a show in the "hot talk" format)up against him. thats why WNEW always had sports shows in the morning. (oddly enough, Ferrall, a show that went up against him for this reason, is now on his station, sharing an audience)
It's a reasonable thing for him to have in his contract, It would be stupid for them to put R&F or O&A against stern.. it's the same company dividing a potential audience.
At the same time, it would have been better if Stern could have controlled his ego, and let them switch K-Rock to WNEW's format.. Him, O&A, and R&F would have been a much bigger station then K-ROCK and WNEW were speeratly.

I've never really heard it used the way they do, it always sounds like they use it wrong.
