Since there seems to be a decent amount of comic book fans in this forum, I've decided to place this here...if it is supposed to be moved to off topic, I apologize. I just figure that since Fezzie says he enjoys comics, it's kind of on topic.
Anyway, this week was a decent sized week for me....the highlights.
Nextwave #1. Warren Ellis writing a story involving superheroes no one really cares about. The black captain marvel (photon), machine man, and others being irreverant. The best part of the comic is a long overdue appearance of FIN FANG FOOM, the dragon who wore underpants.
Also, they have thier own theme song.

New Avengers #15. ALright, they're trying to introduce us to warbird, and that's alirght, I really just didn't like the style in which warbirds thoughts were presented. And why the heck was there a red line through the words "house of m" whenever she said them (save once)?
Frank Cho goes a bit overboard when drawing women, but really, who cares?
The Thing #3 Not really that greatly written of a book, but I'm a sucker with anything with the ever lovin blue eyed thing in it. Kind of a hack ending as well.
Ultimate Spider Man #whatever Is there anyone left on the planet that hasn't seen Spidey without the mask now? I really liked art on the pages that were written like a kids story.

I'll have to check out Nextwave. I kind of stopped getting comics when he pulled the plug on Transmetropolitan.

Thanks, buddays.:icon_cool
Next step is I've got to find a place that sells them.
Would they sell graphic novels at Borders????
I was there a few months ago getting some other nerd reading material(the Silmarillion), and I didn't even think to look.

Bought some solid stuff this week.
The end of the current Arc of Captain America was awesome. Not to spoil it, but a figure from caps past made a great appearance, and the art was outstanding.
The Sentry was a pretty decent comic this week. The sentry is basically a superman clone type character, but the comic deals with his mental illness and god complex he gets from being the most unstoppable force in the marvel universe.
Y the Last Mine spent this issue dealing with what's being going on with Yorick's Monkey. If you haven't heard of Y, one day Mr. Yorick Brown wakes up to find that he and his monkey are the only two males left on the planet, with all the men having been killed by some sort of plague. It's about Yoricks adventures in that world, and really, about how much earth would suck if it was only the ladies.
Everything else this week was just OK. Fantastic Four had some great Thing on Hulk smash/clobberin time action.

I'm gonna re-read The Watchmen this weekend. I moved recently and will be able to go through my stuff a little bit. Some Preacher, Sandman, maybe some old X-Men runs.
Does manga count on this thread?

Well, since this thread started off with Warren Ellis, try looking for a graphic novel he wrote called "Switchblade Honey". Imagine the Star Trek crew that smokes and drinks.
And try buying darn near ANYTHING written by Frank Miller, especially his Daredevil stuff.
There's also a recent g.n. called "Invincible" by Image comics.
Also any "Stray Bullets", or "Y the Last Man" (as mentioned above) or "100 Bullets". Or any g.n. with "Bullets" in the title.

Hello my fellow comic reading wackbaggers. Check out any of the Hellblazer
tpb featuring John Constantine (the one in the comic bears almost no
resemblance(sp?) to the movie one) very well written and great stories.

Today I just got my oversized hardcover of the Batman:Hush storyarc.
I am in love with oversized hardcover editions of anything. Plus, it gives me the chance to sell the run of the first edition issues on ebay.
Currently, I'm trying to decide whether I want to get rid of my complete run of the Walking Dead (which sells for quite a bit) to get the hardcover and some extra spending scratch.

Nothing too interesting this week. The only thing I got that has some potential is a book called "Supermarket." I'm not quite sure what's going on, but it was a decent introduction to the characters and the basic feel of what the series is going to be. I'll follow it for a story arc and see where it goes.

Heard about it earlier, but decided to pick up "300" after ron was talking about it last week.

This week was a pretty good week. I bought the hardcover edition of the "Walking Dead" an amazing zombie comic that collects the first 24 issues of that series.
In addition, the standout comic this week is Captain America issue 15. It's the start of a new story arc and does an amazing job of setting up the character and motivations of the Red Skull's daughter. Should be a great Arc. Brubaker has been doing an amazing job on this book.

The Walking Dead is great, have you read the Invincible hardcover? It's pretty good too. Fear Agent, Bad Planet, Shaolin Cowboy were the last good books i picked up. If there is anyone out there looking for a great graphic novel to pick up at a book store, check out Wanted By Mark Millar and J.G. Jones, it's a great read.

I've read the first Invincible trade, and I liked it, but not so much that I put it on my must read list.
I dig fear agent too. The guy who first drew the walking dead and fear agent is drawing a book called "the exterminators" which has been decent for its first two issues.
I absolutely loved the Ultiamtes this week.
