So, I bought a new laptop, and like every american company today it's hardware is manufactured in China. I needed the laptop ASAP for school.
Just to be safe, I paid extra for "Expedited 2-DAY shipping".
The laptop left the computer company on the 24th, and arrived at FedEx on that same day. FedEx posted that it would arrive at my house the next day by 4:30. The package, being computer equipment is "signature required", so my wife and I move our schedules around to be home on the 25th to receive it. 4:30 comes and goes...
That night, FedEx updates their site that it will arrive on the 26th by 6:00. Just to be safe I call them to confirm this delivery estimate. The hole on the phone says it definitely will arrive then.
So, I re-arrange my schedule, cut a few classes, and wait around the house all day on the 26th for the delivery. Of course, it doesn't arrive.
Late that night, all of my tracking info on the web changes to show my laptop is on a world tour... Anchorage, Indianapolis, Memphis...
The 27th comes and goes with no delivery. I call again, and speak to a person with the ability to speak like any semi-decent fry-cook at McDonald's in inner-city Detroit. She confirms that my laptop spent it's first two days in the possession of FedEx on a loading dock in China, and that I shouldn't expect delivery until Monday or Tuesday. That would mean 7 days, or 5 business days. The 2 day shipping I paid extra for was spent waiting to get loaded on a freakin' plane. The tracking info has yet to be up to date, and I had to deal with that welfare, baby-momma hole.
Fuck FedEx, Fuck China, Fuck that inarticulate affirmative-action job-having hole, and Fuck me for even thinking that I'd get what I paid for from any company that outsources to a communist country.

I hear you man.... Can't tell you how many times Fedex has screwed up deliveries for me. Whenever I have the chance (unfortunately, too few retailers let you choose), I choose UPS.

i've worked for both FedEx and UPS... from my experience, UPS handles its packages way better... huge difference...

i've worked for both FedEx and UPS... from my experience, UPS handles its packages way better... huge difference...
i hear the opposite. i worked with a guy who used to work with ups and would tell me how poorly they handled packages.

Goddamn Fed Ex did me once on those signature things like that...I had bought some fucking playoff tickets that needed to be delivered in 2 days, sure enough I did like you did, re-arranging the schedule to BE FUCKING THERE..and sure enough something of the similar happened my Playoff tickets i needed to go use in Houston, sat in a fucking FedEx office in Arizona.

way to fucking go. Needless to say I got refunded everything by the Credit Card Company, since they fucked up things.

UPS doesn't go unscathed either, this holiday season I bought a couple of those Steaks and seafood from Outlawsteakhouse.com and they ended up sending my stuff to Virginia and not here in Texas!!! I swear sometimes it makes you think what kind of fucking monkeys they have running these shipments :icon_evil .

The computer company missed their order/pickup cutoff
THe computer company didn't have the proper customs paperwork and your shipment couldn't clear

I had some cases in which i paid for 2 day air, and i got it in 3 days after paying the 2 day fee. I called them up, they said call the vendor where you made the order, I called, the vender said call back Fedex. I was getting the runaround.

FedEx is a major international company that cares little for people (wether it's cosumers or employees). Thier main concern is making money. That is the goal. Once FedEx has your package in it's possesion the service is paid for, regardless if you get it when you excpected it or not. The package was paid for and that's all that matters. Delivering it on time ... well most times it will be and sometimes it's not. If it's not delivered on time FedEx will find an excuse, any excuse, that will keep them from giving you that "garenteeded" refund.

If this was true then it would not have been in FedEx's possesion. If something was wrong with the paper work FedEx would have sent it back before taking full possesion of the laptop. If anything someone at fedex got lazy and found a reason not to ship it. (I did internationals for over a year and we found all kinds of reasons not to ship something cause it would take to long to process the paper work, or to long to just plain ship, or we got a bit to lazy to bother.)

Although the salary is supposedly based on performance that is not totaly true. fedex will find a way to give you as low a salary increas as possiable and they tend to base it on how the cow farted in russia. I knew guys who worked for the company for 15 years making $16 an hour while the new guys come in making $14.50 an hour. The vetran working is left wondering what the fuck is going on and thus gives little shit to performance and your package.

fedex fired me and then put 3 part time workers into the route cause it was cheaper for them in the long run. And when those packages are delivered late the reason fedex gives is "Sorry, new couriers in the route. We appoligize(sp) for the inconviniance."

fedex, ups and dhl are in it for the money, and once they have your money they have accomplised thier goal. Once you hand that package over you have paid for it, and that's what matters to them, making the buck.

The last two things I have had shipped to me via Fedex have either been lost or taken an extra 2 days to arrive.

The one that was lost had been shipped on 12/20/05 and was set to arrive before Christmas. My wife called Fedex the day after Christmas and they told her, "it was delayed and they tracked it to be on a truck scheduled to be delivered later today." It never arrived, so she called back the next day and that's when they said it was lost and to call the shipper to send out another.

Why the hell couldn't they just say that the day before instead of making up some bullshit that it was on a truck and on its way?

I won't ship anything Fedex anymore. I sell a bunch of shit on ebay and use the postal service. It's usually cheaper for me.

All I know is I worked for UPS loading trucks. I saw how packages are handled and I wouldn't say UPS was superior to Fed Ex in anyway. Also, my company uses UPS to ship and receive most things, and it always seems we're reporting damage or sending in claims.

Problem is just lack of caring, like others have said in this thread.

True, I spent a year stepping on packages, hearing the sound of broken glass while throwing packages into trailers. Gotta keep that pack rate up or they fire your ass.
