Well it looks like Rob Van Dam has returned to the WWE at the Royal Rumble and did really well. They had alot of shoot-interviewing with him at the ECW: One Night Stand ppv that the WWE had last year and there's another one scheduled to take place in June.
Hopefully they'll utilize his talents and let him go back to his older promo style instead of the gimmick of a retarded stoner with the 5 word vocabulary. Then again we all know that the WWE writers are mainly sitcom and soap opera veterans who know nothing of the business, and Vince has his "big man" fetish (signing that massive Tiger Singh to improve his ring work in OVW).
Paul Heyman has been said to have been sent down to OVW (after Jim Cornette stepped down) to bring the talent and the promotion more up to speed and some consider it another shot at showing the suits that he can run a successful promotion.
Either way the Rise and Fall of ECW dvd sold so well that they're releasing more tapes and endorsing more ppvs so maybe my dream will come true and the promotion will start back up as a semi-independent.

RVD rules, and he deserves every push he gets...I hope to shit that it's ECW RVD that we get, not stoner monkey RVD

He's not going to get a big push, unless you consider the Intercontinental title a big push. Looks to me like they're going to rebuild the IC division around Shelton, Chavo, Carlito, RVD, and Masters which could make the belt important and the IC matches actually meaningful again.
No disrespect at all to my hero Ric Flair, but they never have him defend it and the belt's a complete afterthought on him.
I doubt you'll ever see RVD up as a legitimate contendor for the World/WWE titles unless a lot of people get hurt. Seems to me that Vince has always had a lot of problems pushing guys who aren't homegrown talents, especially ECW guys. Even WCW guys like Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, and Jericho who actually got to hold the top belts were completely treated like second rate champions by the way they were handled.
I hate that they are doing this with ECW, they will only end up bastardizing the name of ECW

I totally agree but i think thats the point...i think the angle is going towards the young guys getting fed up with Naitch not defending and seeing it as secondary to his 16 world titles...i think it'll spark the interest in the division and get it jump started for RVD, Carlito, Masters, Benjamin, etc. to once again be a springboard to the world title that it was to Helmsley, rock, austin etc.....I think they are in a great position now having the belt on flair...he may be old but he's still Ric Flair, so he's always a credible champ and i still think it means something to beat him...i think it'll work out nicely.....if the writing team doesn't fuck it up.

RVD deserves a push but he will only get a small one.The writing team doesn't know how to use him and it's real simple how to.You have him as he was in ECW.Balls out hard core.He has more to offer that company then almost anyone else there.I don't know how much longer he has on his contract but if it's not much longer he should jump ship to TNA as soon as he can.You know they would give him the push he deserves and use all of his in ring skills and talent.

He's not going to jump to TNA. No one who is getting any kind of decent action in WWE would go over to TNA. Christian wasnt doing anything on Smackdown prior to him leaving, RVD is gonna be put into a title picture, probably the IC belt. TNA is a third-rate company and wont be able to compete with Vince's money when it comes down to getting established talent (thats not stupidly old). Saying RVD should jump to TNA to get pushed harder is like saying that since Sheffield isnt the best player on the Yankees he should go play in Pittsburgh because he'll be the star of the team.

RVD was wasted by the WWE. Good thinking Vince... let's water RVD down for 5 years, keep him on the lower-mid card, put him in meaningless feuds, and then push him when he's almost 40. How does he do it?

Looks to me like they're going to rebuild the IC division around Shelton, Chavo, Carlito, RVD, and Masters which could make the belt important and the IC matches actually meaningful again. That, my dear sir, is a phenominal thing!!  Remember this though, HBK, HHH, Bret Hart, Stone Cold, and The Rock were all former IC champs (although for some reason they put the IC belt again on Trips when they were doing the "Power Trip" thing with him and Austin)Seems to me that Vince has always had a lot of problems pushing guys who aren't homegrown talents, especially ECW guys. Even WCW guys like Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, and Jericho who actually got to hold the top belts were completely treated like second rate champions by the way they were handled.Yeah, unfortunately that is very true...and Benoit, Eddie, and Chris are all former ECW guys too. I'm hoping to Christ that it will happen over time (and not that long of a time....I'd rather RVD over Orton or Masters any day of the week)

Good call. They did tease a Shelton Benjamin/Ric Flair match on the last RAW...that would rule.
which you knowthey will. this is the WWE writing team you are talking about.
Hmmm...I could totally see them have RVD win the IC belt and then push him into a Brokeback angle with Snitsky. "I don't know how to quit you"

Yeah I'm so glad RVD is back so they can NOT do anything with him like they have been for the last 5 fuckin years of however the hell long he's been in there. He is the perfect example of the WWE NOT listening to the fans at all....going by fan support only RVD should've been champ for the last 4 years. Everyone loves him yet they dont do ANYTHING with him

Don't be suprised if he's carrying the IC belt by one night stand. But that's likely as far as they'll let him go.
