I was watching tv last night and a Boston radio station ran a commercial for their morning show, which has it's moments, but now they have added a Hole...Well, at the bottom of the screen for the whole commercial is "No subscription required" well, they've got me!

I thought I heard a pest call in to the Hillman Morning show today. I was half asleep so I might have been dreaming. I could have sworn I heard "Let's go to <name> at wackbag.com"

I've seen the same slogan on billboards down here in Philly.
No subscription = boring ass radio

I used to listen religiously to O&A up until they got fired from WAAF and even taped all of their shows and I listened not too long ago, and its shows how fat and unfunny and unsupportive Gregg Hill was to O&A. The boys didn't have to do it, but they went out and urged people to support that fucking unfunny piece of shit that was a show. Honestly, I thought that Howard was funnier in the morning than Hillman and those people.

When O&A got fired from WAAF, a part of that station died with it. They really didn't know where to go from there. They used a forklift to move Shock-Hole over to afternoons with some new unfunny guy which by then was called "Rocko and Birdsey" in which they tried to be O&A Lite, but it stunk and then they tried some fat cow who I don't know is still there, but shes "Misteress Karrie" typical sounds sexy over the airwaves but is fat and ugly in person. That was it. I still listened to John "O-Zone" Osterlind in the mid-day for he was the most reasonable person left over there, after he left. I left too. That station needs something b/c they are hurtin' over in Worcester!

It really is sad too b/c in addition to O&A and O-Zone, they actully broke alot of unknown nationwide bands open like "Days of the New" and 'Creed" (Before the singer became fat and religious) for example. Some bands made it, others didn't but back then that station went out on a limb for unknowns. Now, what'll happen is like 102.9 WBLM in Portland, ME and 102.3 WBAB in L.I. and 99.1 WPLR, they'll go from mainstream rock to all classic rock since no new bands will want to get their start in Central Mass like back in 1996. It's sad. But all things must pass and maybe they just don't have it anymore!

I listened to the boys ay WAAF too. Hated rocco, didnt like Hillman But in his defence I listened to his show on the way into Boston a few days this week (no xm in work truck) and it was pretty good. More NEWS based with a funny spin on it with .... and Linden Bias. Hes definately only ever gonna be a Boston show tho. I hated Ostraland after he became program director and seemed to change the format to all 70 rock like led zepplin and Hendrix. I didnt listen to the station for clasic rock and I hate it. I was a zepplin fan when I was in 8th grade and Im not in 8th grade anymore. Well Basicly O&A made WAAF and I think WAAF fadded out after that. Then they were broadcast on WBCN and I started listening to BCN untill I got the XM. And ahh I have no fucking point I guess.

All this stuff about "free FM" and "no subscription required" just proves that they are SCARED. If Sirius and XM weren't cutting into their profits, they wouldn't waste all this $ on the new ad campaigns. They can sense the change coming, and they are fighting to hold onto what little relevance they have left.

These commercials are out of control! I watch a lot of late night tv and they are on every break. They even have a 15sec cut down spot that is on all the time...Wow they are really getting desperate..They are wedged between the MacDonald's and Prescription Drug commercials that are all over late night tv

Fellow AAF'er here, listened to O & A on that station all the way back in 1995 to the very day they got fired for saying Menino was dead.

That was it. I still listened to John "O-Zone" Osterlind in the mid-day for he was the most reasonable person left over there, after he left. I left too. That station needs something b/c they are hurtin' over in Worcester!

Letting O-Zone go was an absolute disaster for them. Like you said, they brought a lot of new bands onto the scene, much thanks to him. Firing O & A, letting O-Zone go to their sister station instead of resigning him (and he ended up getting fired there, whole lotta good that did -_-), letting Rocko stay on the air so long, moving Carrie from nights to mid-day, AAF really fucked themselves over after O & A left.

Thats said, I still enjoy the music on the station and enjoy listening to Carrie when I get a chance, which is not that often. BCN may have O & A, but their DJ's still suck way more than AAF's and they play a lot of shitty music.

Hillman has always sucked, especially Mantown so I love hearing O & A bash it to death every chance they get. :) :)
