No Way Out
Live! PPV
Sunday, February 19
8pmET/5pmPT

World Heavyweight Title:
The Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle (c)

#1 Contender to the World Heavyweight Title:
Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio

More to come...
________

The top two matches should be pretty good. Based on Smackdown last week, for the undercard we could be looking at is MNM vs. The Mexicools again for the Tag Titles which is fine by me...they always have good matches. Also JBL vs. Lashley looks likely. The U.S. Title's confusing as it could be any combination of Booker T, Chris Benoit, Finlay, Orlando Jordan, and The Boogeyman in any type of singles, triple threat, fatal fourway or whatever. Also should be a Cruiserweight match as well.

Could be a nice card if they fill out the back end right.

Yeah, the card really does look to be shaping up to be really good. The show on Friday, also, was absolutely flawless to me, easily one of the best SmackDown!s ever. I hope the card ends up looking something like this:

World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Kurt Angle vs. The Undertaker

#1 Contendership at WrestleMania
Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton

WWE Tag Team Championship
Champions MNM vs. The Mexicools

Chris Benoit & William Regal vs. Booker T & Finlay

John "Bradshaw" Layfield vs. Bobby Lashley

Cruiserweight Championship
Champion Gregory Helms vs. Jamie Noble

And then maybe some random tag match, or maybe a squash for pirate Burchill or something. If it's somewhere near that, it can be a really good show.

I was wondering who Matt Hardy would be jobbing to this time

I was wondering who Matt Hardy would be jobbing to this time

Last I heard he was getting the "honor" of teaming up with Road Warrior Animal. I hope they put the kabosh on that.

Seriously, and I hate to even think it because it could single-handledly ruin the card, but they might go Booker T. vs. The Boogeyman for the U.S. Title. They teased it on Smackdown last Friday. The only silver-lining in that is if they took Benoit, Finlay, Regal and Hardy and threw them in a fatal four-way for a shot at the U.S. Title at Wrestlemania, on this card.

I think we're most likely to get Benoit vs. Booker at No Way Out...Booker retains, then helps Orton win his match against Mysterio as pay back for Orton helping him with the U.S. Title, and then we get Angle vs. Orton for the World Title and Booker vs. Mysterio for the U.S. Title at WM22

I don't think they were every going to have a Hardy and Animal team on TV... it was more just there for the house show bookings so Matt could replace the recently released Heidenreich.

Two more matches added on Smackdown (Spoilers)

John "Bradshaw" Layfield vs. Bobby Lashley

United States Championship
Champion Booker T vs Chris Benoit

Regal vs Finlay?
Could be good times but this isn't WCW-days, and seeing how WWE butchered Booker/Benoit Best of 7, I cringe at this matchup.

I don't think they butchered the Best of 7... all of the Benoit-Booker matches (from the beginning of this feud up until match 4) were all really good matches. Maybe a bit less gooder than the WCW ones, but they were a different style. Booker got hurt, though, and Benoit was then able to pull Orton's best matches of his life out of him.

They added a couple new matches to the card at the tapings...it's a spoiler so don't read if you don't want to know

WWE Tag Team Titles:
Matt Hardy and a mystery partner vs. MNM (c)

WWE Cruiserweight Title
Brian Kendrick vs. Paul London vs. Super Crazy vs. Psicosis vs.Nunzio vs. Scotty 2 Hotty vs. Funaki vs. Kid Kash vs. Jamie Noble vs. Gregory Helms (c)
(I don't know if it'll end up being 10 guys...the gimmick, though, is that Teddy Long tells Helms he'll defend the title against everyone in the division, and that is the division)

Does anyone actually believe the mystery partner for Hardy is anyone but Animal? And what's with the Cruiserweight title...second card in a row where every cruiser gets a shot at the belt.

That brings it to six announced matches for this card. I guess they'll probably fill it out with a Boogeyman squash, and a Finlay squash to make it eight.

It's a tough call on this card. It looks like the matches will be pretty good, but it's pretty obvious how almost every match will turn out, especially since pretty much everyone knows what the Wrestlemania card will be now.

And WWE doesn't throw very many curveballs these days, so I doubt there'll be any surprises.

Here's the final card, and my picks:

WWE Cruiserweight Championship:
Psicosis vs. Super Crazy vs. Kid Kash vs. Funaki vs. Scotty 2 Hotty vs. Paul London vs. Brian Kendrick vs. Nunzio vs. Gregory Helms (c)
Winner: Super Crazy

WWE Tag Team Championship:
Matt Hardy & a mystery partner vs. MNM (c)
Winner Matt Hardy & ????

JBL vs. Bobby Lashley
Winner: JBL

WWE United States Championship:
Chris Benoit vs. Booker T (c)
Winner: Booker T.

#1 Contendor Match:
Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio
Winner: Randy Orton

World Heavyweight Championship:
The Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle (c)
Winner: Kurt Angle

Booker T will pay back Orton by helping him defeat Mysterio. Mark Henry will get involved in the title match and cost the Undertaker the gold. That'll setup for Smackdown's side of Wrestlemania 22:

Super Crazy vs. Gregory Helms
Hardy & partner vs. MNM
JBL vs. Lashley
Booker T. vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Benoit vs. Finlay
Undertaker vs. Mark Henry
Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton

RAW's side is pretty easy to figure out:

Cena vs. HHH
Edge vs. Foley
HBK vs. McMahon
RVD vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair
Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
Big Show & Kane vs. Carlito & Masters

It's not a big card as far as interesting angles go, but it looks like it'll be a pretty good wrestling card. Angle/Taker and Orton/Mysterio should be very good matches. I'm stuck at work tonight anyway so I'll probably just order the webcast, or see if I can find the free hookup somewhere.

I'll post some updates later on if anything big happens. Who knows, they may throw a curveball. The only one that I think could happen is they decide to let Rey win and keep his title shot after all.

I'm actually ordering this on PPV. This'll be the first time I've spent money on a PPV since I was at Vengeance like 4 years ago....before that, it was Wrestlemania VI...

i too will not be ordering this. after the diappointment of the rumble i'll just wait til next month to be disappointed by mania. i'm just gonna rely on one of you fine gentlemen to watch and report here. speaking of mania, the only way it will be worth the money is if bret comes out during hbk and vince's match and interferes either way. and to see cena lose and FINALLY go back to midcard

There's always that very slim 1% chance it could be Jeff Hardy, which is what they want people to think, but you're right, it'll be one of those two. Probably Animal...someone said a while back that he contractually is only allowed to wrestle in tag team matches or something which is why he's been completely gone from TV since Heidenreich got fired.

completely unrelated but quick. i was workin on the ambulance today and we got a call for a mexican (lots of em down here post-katrina workin) who fell off a ladder. while we're treating him we asked if he had ID and he looked at another mexican and said, and I quote," Ramone, get my wallet out of the truck. " i fuckin lost it and had to go back to our unit for a minute. then had to explain to my sirius owner partner the reason i laughed at a guy w/ an open head wound. i'm slowly infecting the company with the o&a virus ( myfi goes w/ me every shift). just wanted to share

Kind of a controversial finish... I guess. But after like a 45 minute amazing match Angle won after rolling up Taker, who had Angle in a triangle choke at the same time. So when the bell rung Taker thought he won cause Angle was out cold, but he was actually pinned.

Also after the match Taker said that he has his number, and this isn't over. The PPV goes off the air with both Undertaker and Angle staring each other down

WhiteHonkyDevil

I don't get why it was a controversial finish, it seemed clean to me, Taker's shoulders were down, but even Tazz and Cole were arguing....

Rey really looked like a sad Mexican baby child (literally) after losing to Orton.

I'm betting Taker & Henry both make arguments that they deserve rematches, which results in either a title match before Mania or the two of them fighting for the #1 contender's spot.

spikesglaring

Here's two quotes that stuck out to me on WWE.com following the PPV:

WWE.com: Do you believe you went too far in order to get Rey’s WrestleMania opportunity?

Orton: Too far? That's a good question, but I have a pretty simple answer: I don't think there's any limit to how far you can go to get something that you want as dearly as that Heavyweight Championship. To get in position to win that at WrestleMania, I knew I had to somehow get Rey's spot.

WWE.com: Do you see any wrong in it?

Orton: I looked up to Eddie; I still do. I learned a lot from him personally and in this business. I know that what I said was harsh, but I don't have any remorse because I'm standing here talking to you now as the No. 1 Contender.

...

WWE.com: What are your thoughts on Stacy’s recent surge in popularity? It seems she is becoming more of a media maven than the Wrestling God is.

JBL: She's dancing with the bimbos. You could get the same appeal dancing on a pole at Scores. I should reach out and slap you for a stupid question like that. What a waste of my time. I'm done.

...

I know many people hate JBL, but quotes like this crack me up everytime. Screw political correctness.

I had to watch the replay, because my computer fucked up live, which is why I avoided this thread so I'd be surprised going in. Just got done watching. Anyway, fan-fucking-tastic PPV. There wasn't really a boring moment all night.

They actually gave the cruisers some time and there were some awesome spots. Lashley probably had his best match since coming to WWE. The tag match was just ok, nothing special. Booker/Benoit was good. Orton/Mysterio was really good. And Undertaker/Angle was easily the best main event in WWE in a LONG time. Those guys tore down the house.

The finish wasn't really like a screw job or anything like that. It was more or less clean. It's just that Undertaker had Angle in a triangle choke hold and basicallly had Angle knocked out (Tazz kept saying he was turning purple) and right before Angle supposedly lost consciousness, he rolled forward and bridged over Taker for a three count. And Taker went up to him after the match and told Angle he had his number and he's not done with him yet which makes me think there'll be a rematch in the next couple weeks on Smackdown.

I had a lot of fun watching this, and loved the main event. Great show.

And oh yeah, no Boogeyman, juniors, or Pirate Burchill to be found.
