picked up the ECW most violent matches DVD today. Decent compilation of matches spanning the company's existence. Definately not a best of collection but some nice matches nonetheless. Probably the best part is seeing all the current wwe superstars who were with ecw and how much they've changed in look, style, and crowd reactions. I'd say it's worth the buy considering it's 2 discs with about 4 hrs of matches and about another 30 min. of extras.

The Horseman one would make sense, but it's not coming out this time around. I'd like something like a WCW Starrcade anthology too, although we're probably more likely to get a Great American Bash since it's the only WCW PPV name WWE uses these days.

Here's what's up for this year so far:

Austin vs. McMahon: The Definitive Collection
Brian Pillman: Loose Cannon
Hulk Hogan: The Ultimate Anthology
Born to Controversy: The Roddy Piper Story
The Spectacular Legacy of the AWA
John Cena: The Time is Now
The American Dream: The Dusty Rhodes Story
The World's Greatest Wrestling Managers

Not a great class of DVDs. The Piper one could be decent, and depending what's on the Austin/McMahon DVD (for instance, stuff like Austin vs. Dude Love = more gooder) that could be ok.

I don't care about Hogan or Dusty. The Hogan one is actually due out right after Wrestlemania which all but guarantees Hogan will have a part in WM22. And I probably wouldn't buy the Brian Pillman one, although the fact that they're doing this makes me think they could finally doing an Owen Hart one soon. And I'd have to see what's on the AWA one before I think about it.

Oh, and why the hell is John Cena getting a DVD now? Don't you have to actually do something to earn one? I'd like to see the documentary part..."This is where Chris Jericho carried me...and this is where Kurt Angle carried me."

hulk hogan was my fav growing up and i'll shell out 25 bucks for an anthology... it'll be fun to watch those big matches from the early wrestlemanias.

i also am baffled at why cena has a dvd coming out so soon. he's only been around for 20 minutes compared to some of the guys on that list... if 10 years from now, cena is still relevant in the wwe, then maybe he should get a dvd.

i don't think i've seen a dvd for the rock and he's been a major player in the industry for about 10 years... with the climate of wrestling changing the way it has over the past few years, 10 years today may have meant 20 back in the 80s.

i also heard they are putting out an 'penultimate' ric flair collection...i don't know what penultimate means but i understand ric flair...and i shall be purchasing that one. hopefully the horseman one isn't far behind

I've got to believe there's one out there somewhere. It's not a bad idea but my problem is that they'll probably load it up with the stuff a hate, and breeze through the stuff I liked about the Rock.

My favorite Rock stuff, and when he was at his funniest, at least for me, is about the year and a half that encompassed him joining the Nation, usurping it from Faarooq, the NOD/DX feud, Rock's face turn, then heel turn to become the original corporate champ, and the build to his first big match with Austin. Nothing beats the super-heel Rock.

But they'll probably go with that stupid "This is your life" skit, and the Rock 'n Sock stuff, and when he was the top face in the company because that's when he was most popular.

EDIT: I looked on Amazon...they've released a couple shitty DVD's for him, but not a definitive one yet.

sorry for the wait but i got it for 18 and some change. the only let down after watching it was wwe beeps the curseswhich is fucking stupid. it's like the free fm vs. satellite debate. i can understand not being allowed to do it on tv because of the Fucking Childish Cunts but at least have the balls to leave it in the dvd. for god's sake i didn't buy this thinking "a DVD titled Blood Sport- ECW's Most Violent Matches? This better not offend me with harse language harumph harumph!" Grow a fuckin set already. I have about 10 ECW DVD's pre-wwe and the are fuckin classic. the new does have matches i have never seen before and is a decnt addition to the collection. honestly, the ONLY wrestling dvds i have ever and will ever purchased and not felt like a commercial fan faggot have EC fuckin W on them. Comin up is a general breakdown of the set seeing as how there are no matches listed on the back of the case and you gotta buy it to get the insert...

Has Blood Sport 2 been confirmed yet? Is it just a rumor?

we can only hope my friend. there is a rumor of another ecw ppv this june given the success of last years. also supposedly if that ppv does the same or better there is a possibility of an ecw ressurection. however i'm sure it will be much much more tame than the original version of the company cause vince is gonna play it safe. the ONLY way it could ever have the potential to be close to it's original form is either strictly low priced ppvs ala tna's early days or hbo, showtime etc. however seeing as how you get uncensored programming on movie channels because you pay extra, WHY THE FUCK CENSOR THE DVD!

honestly, i did enjoy this new compilation, however if it says ecw on it i'm gonna fuckin buy it anyway. for some good uncensored ecw dvd check a best buy or similar store with a large dvd section and look for the old ecw dvds, if they're still around. i got mine from suncoast. ebay's also a good place to look. punchin out for the night fellas. for those of you who are going to seek out the old ones, GOOD LUCK BRO and TAKE....LUCK

Penultimate means next to last.

I assume that WWE has a time machine and will go back to 2002 so they can released another Flair DVD set.

Hey, Paul Heyman makes not one dime off of the DVD, other than the royalties... So I say, fuck WWE.... www.pwtorrents.net

Go there, sign up while the signups are still open, and you can download the whole thing, all the discs.. It's about 8 gigs worth of shit. I'm downloading it now... And if you're into it, they also have ROH, CZW, Old school shit too. So yeah, enjoy, I guess. (And if the signups are closed, keep checking back, they'll open soon as they delete some members for not seeding).

That Dusty DVD is going to be worth it for the promos alone. Dusty Rhodes is gold on the mic.

Outside of One Night Stand, this is my last, true, honest memory of ECW. However, shortly after this moment, my hopes and dreams were ruined by bad writing and booking. But I marked out for this moment.. I still get chills.

Dude, I remember that night so good.

The night before that raw I was at a show here in buffalo called "Racing and Wrestling" it was an outdoor event at a speedway that had racing in the morning and a wrestling event in the after noon. It was also dubbed "ECW Reuinion" because every match was ECW style with all of the ECW guys that werent in WWE at the time (dreamer, CW, sabu, nova, balls, etc...) even had all the ECW security guys there.

After dreamers match he gave this big thank you speech and the next night when i was watching raw he did that run in and i just marked out big time.

What's the best match on the dvd?

TheFlash
02-12-2006, 07:17 PM
Probably Terry Funk v. Sabu in a Barbed Wire Match, simply for the fact that it goes nuts in every way possible.

Other than that there are a few really good matches, with the worst still being better than most of the crap thats drawn out today.

The Mike Awesome matches (v. Little Spike Dudley and Masato Tanaka) are something you have to see.

That and the 3-way dance that was originally aired on TNN, Super Crazy v. Little Guido v. Yoshihiro Tajiri is also another great match.

The only thing I wish they'd done more of is have more commentary and behind the scenes stuff on the matches. They started to have a good thing with the CW commentary on his "I Quit" match with Tommy Dreamer but like all the extras on this dvd they're cut short.
