So I'm sitting here studying for a Government test that I'm obviously going to fail, because the professor is a bore and I don't listen to any lectures. But those of you who are in or went to college know that you never listened to the lectures either. You did what I do. You just read the textbook the night before the test.
So I'm looking through my government textbook and as I am reading about protected speech and publications I see a picture of Howard Stern's ugly head, with a little comment on the side:
Radio personality Howard Stern was suspended by Clear Channel Communications in February, 2004 for "vulgar, offensive, and insulting" content on his syndicated morning show. Stern and critics of the George W. Bush Administration later speculated that his suspension and subsequent firing were actually the result of his anti-Bush rhetoric.
Hoohoo Robin, I invented bashing the president. I even made the history books Robin. Hoohoo. Tell'em Fred.

he would love to be remembered as a martyr but in my eyes, he was suspended for "stinking on ice" the last few years.

It's nice to see that liberal indoctrination is alive and well in academia. There is zero evidence that Howie was pulled from Clear Channel because he was "anti-Bush." Hell, he wasn't even anti-Bush until he was pulled off in the first place!

Yeah, college tends to brainwash. But seeing Howie in a history book really made me cringe. Please tell me that the Constitution has an ammendment dealing with mousetraps to the balls.

I hate being around all these liberal douches in college. You would think that Bush is bringing back the Final Solution.

I found out real quick to record all lectures..Used alot os cassette tape but was well worth it. And take massive notes as well. The studying the text book can't hurt. But if get in there and are really gonna bomb it just all the way and atleast make the Professor have a chuckle while putting that big zero on the test.

Take a class on the history of gods and worship. See if the b-b-boys made the text book. If they did it could be a more interesting read.

Which is why the book says Stern and co. speculated that it was because of that. Neutrally stating facts must be the new liberal indoctrination method.

you need to do what most of us did. Photocopy notes from some chick who went to class every day. Study from those, or preferably, study with her and ask her to help you.

Umm...thanks for the study tips, people. But I already took it and probably got a C or a D.
Anyway, the thread wasn't about the fact that I probably failed the test. I was just complaining about Howard making the history books when he hasn't done shit for society.

sit next to a smart person, wear a baseball cap, and pray for fill in the bubble so you can copy. if it's essay you're fucked so just write any old shit down and be done first. no one wants to be the last person to leave if they already know they're getting an F

and hoo-hoo's speculations have exactly what to do w/a free speech issue of such momentous proportions that it deserves to be inlcluded in a college textbook?

there's nothing neutral about taking a mile long end-around to make non-point, wmal (630 AM) here in dc fired michael graham for refusing to apologize to muslims for calling islam a terrorist religion (which it is), there was no ambiguity whatsoever that the station owners (and it's the rush/hannity station too, btw) caved in to pressure from CAIR (council on american islam relations--the al sharpton of islam-baiting) thus stripping graham's freedom of speech, why didn't the enlightened authors of this required reading see fit to include that as an example of free speech denial?
it's called indoctrination, and it's all that happens in college these days
and what's more, it's paid for by me and you, sweetie :action-sm

I got Sirius about six months after I got XM for O & A. Only for the music stations as XM has shit for metal stations. The Boneyard stinks.

Sounds like it was simply giving Hoo Hoo's perspective on the whole thing, which wasn't a chapter spread but more like a "fun fact" on the side. It sounded to me like it was just a nugget of information and not a liberal cloak and dagger conspiracy.

I don't remember this MAL thing or when it happened, probably because the only people I knew who listened to it were bus drivers when I was a freshman in high school. I would wager that time of printing on the book may have had something to do with it, or the fact that people are going to recognize Hoo Hoo over some schmuck on an AM news radio station.
Graham wasn't stripped of his right to free speech. Free speech doesn't include freedom from repercussions. The first amendment has always been a double edged sword that way.

Ain't that a kick in the teeth? Why should I pay for indoctrination when I can turn on Fox News or Rush Limbaugh and get it for free?
