There have been many threads in the past on problems with losing weight, but I have another problem.
Gaining it.
I eat about 3-5 meals a day (depending on how I feel and how active I am during that day), I sleep well, I work out. But my metabolism is awful. It seems everything I eat just goes right through me. Sure, I've gained about 15 pounds in the past 3 years, which is decent, but I'm still pissed off. It doesn't matter what the fuck I eat. I can get a tub of Crisco and have it pumped into my stomach, and I still wouldn't gain any weight. I'm at the point where I don't even care if I gain muscle or fat, just as long as I don't look like I have AIDS.
I am 5'8. I weigh 135. If I were black, people would "adopt" me and send me canned goods every month. I'd be standing next to an old washed up celebrity as he puts his arm around me and tells people to send their bank account number so that I can stay alive.
Is anyone having or has anyone ever had a problem with putting on some poundage? And can anyone answer that without throwing in an AIDS joke? :action-sm
If so, how are you or how did you deal with it? What are your recommendations for diet?

If I may ask, how old are you? My metabolism quit when I turned 21. I was REALLY active in high school and couldn't get my weight over 100 no matter how hard I tried. (I'm 5'1".) It took a few years to slow down, and when it did WHAM. The pounds came really easily. Now it's a constant battle to maintain what I think is a decent weight for my height & frame (100 - 103 lbs).
Be very careful what you wish for, Shooter.

To gain weight with your fast metabolism, you need to slow down your metabolism through eating. This means eat no more than 2-3 huge meals and stay away from the 4-6 meals. When you eat, eat big till you cant eat anymore. Eat before bedtime too. I would suggest eating moderate protein, high carbs, and high fat. Dont drop carbs from your diet like Atkins or you will lose weight with your metabolism. Try not to exercise too much except for skateboarding and lifting. Add a high protein shake with fat(yes, a weight gainer:) ) to your meals for extra calories. Its easier than stuffing all that food. If you lift, stay in the 4 set, 3-8 rep range.

Dude, I've been battling this my whole life until recently. I'm almost 24 and have been skinny all my life. In high school I was 6'2" weighing in at 140-150. Now I'm around 165-170. Wait until college bro and try staying away from fights. All my weight goes straight to my gut due to the beer drinking, but it will slow down, I promise. My dad's a skinny guy too but he's also huge into bicycling. I think I got his genes. Also, eat eggs... that's what people always told me. I'm just not a big fan of eggs.
Gaining weight has been easy for me when I need to. I weighed 115 all the way up to 17, then I started to work out 4 times a week. I work out whenever I can now and weigh 170 pounds. Try weight lifting more often with more sets, reps, and weight. Also, add a large amount of protein to your diet to increase the effect of working out. Have 70 grams of protein one hour before you work out and then another 70 grams after an hour once you finish your workout, and then 100 grams again two hours after the last time. Whey protein works well and you can buy a month supply at GNC for around $50. Trust me, it's well worth it.

Gaining weight is not as complicated as some make it out to be. Its not about biology or genes. The greatest thing you could ever do if you want to gain strength and size is............Read this (all of it)

I'm 26, 6'1 and 243lbs (winter weight) and in the summer I'm usually around 220. I can gain weight like a motherfucker, and that's with playing hockey three nights a week. The worst part is there are guys my weight that look like the goodyear man and I look like someone that might be 200lbs. Being big isn't all it's made out to be, although people do tend to not fuck with you when you have some mass, even if you are a teddy bear.

Drink more beer and your problem will magically disappear. Failing that, Bad Salmon pretty much summed up how you do it. It's what Sumo wrestlers do. Eat huge meals infrequently and you "trick" your body into storing more than it needs to in preparation for the next fasting gap.

beer, protein, paistries, and chocolate are all good things to put weight on. But then again, some people can't. I have friends that eat McShitty's everday at least twice a day and they weigh 145lbs.

your 18, just keeping working out, and add a ton of protein to your diet. whole milk, tuna fish(30 grams per can), and red meats. don't trick your body into storing more, just try to bulk up. your metabolism may slow down in a couple of years. don't jump to the conclusion you will always have that metabolism. get your form in lifts, then start doing less reps with more weights, in order to bulk up. do a lot in the shoulders and chest, it'll make you look less emaciated. And try to hide the liver spots. good luck with the GRID(gay related immune disease)

It could be worse for you...you coulda been 6'2" 185lbs at age 12 like me. You gotta see my 7th grade class pic. Im easily a foot taller than all the students and teacher, and I have a caterpillar moustache. I still have the same metabolism---but sssllloooooooowwwwwwwwweeeerrrrr. Its a bitch at my age and I have to work 10x harder now.
I am 6' and 170. I just gained 10-15pounds about 1/2 a year ago for the first time in almost 15 years. I think it was because my girlfriend moved in with me, and she cooks healthy food. Really consider your diet. If you have a fast metabolism, it doesn't matter if you eat all day. If your only pumping fast food into your mouth, there is not enough nutrients to do anything really.
