I'm a maggot in the beloved O&A corps. . .
I would never presume to question the "gods of the show", but I humbly request MORE OF ANTHONY DOING THE GREASEMAN!!!:icon_lol:
I was just listening to a replay. . . ROFL. That was one of my favorite bits that I first heard of O&A and got me hooked.
Please, Mr. Cumia, do more Greaseman material. . .
Humbly submitted for your approval.

what makes ant great is that he really doesnt kill any of his impressions...he does them when they are topical
i would giggle like a little girl if he did don west everyday - but he doesnt unless it relates to whatever the hell they are talking about

Yea, you're a grand pest and all, but Anthony isn't a jukebox. He's aware that people want to hear more classic impressions out of him.. but let it come naturally!!

He certainly is the best. If anybody noticed he's been doing alot of impersonations lately and they have been off the cuff, improv-ed impersonations. Pure fuckin genius.

I have to admit that the Greaseman bits are what hooked me in the WNEW days. And I had never heard of the Greaseman.
Bone Dry = very dry humor, so dry it's BONE DRRY!

I was stuck in traffic when 'ol Grease Manelli was getting peed on. I caught people looking at me agape because I was crying and punching my dashboard. Fucking classic. Then on the way home I was stuck at the same intersection and it came on again, and I got the same strange looks from my fellow motorists.
Half of Ant's genius with his impressions is how he can tailor it to whatever they are talking about, and he just runs with it. This is a perfect example of it, another great one was from NEW when he was doing Richard Nixon after all those tapes of his recorded conversations with Kissenger came out. They had the Doors playing in the backgroud and Ant's just going off about the jews and hippies; it was hilarious.
Bone Dry is definitely refferring to a dry martini.

yeah, one of the reasons Ants greaseman is so great (besides that it is unbelievabley accurate) is that he only brings it out when its appropriate and he has material to work with (remember the great Grease-ola Crayons bit?). Anthony's restraint is part of why he is such a great talent...he does amazing voices but the truth is, if Anthony never did another voice again he would still be a great radio star. This gives him the freedom to use his voices when he can make a hilarious bit out of it instead of just being a wacky voice guy.

DISCLAIMER: I started this thread after listening to a replay yesterday from earlier in the week. Ant hadn't touched-on the Greaseman material for quite some time. Just lettin' the B-B-Boys know that it was wonderful hearing Ant do the Greaseman again and, if the situation calls for it, to keep that in the back of their minds as a tangent to go-off on. I NEVER intended to start a "bitch-fest" about Ant being "a jukebox" or "wacky voice guy". . . just givin' the man some feedback. That's all! If I came across any other way, I apologize profusely.:icon_mrgr

I remember from his days on DC101 that Tracht was into big boats, makin' fun of hillbillies, cop stories, south of the border, one-eyed vipers, and bone dry martinis.

maybe its just the tone u are reading it in. I didnt mean anything I wrote to sound like i was knocking your posts or anything...i was just trying to give anthony props for his talent and agreeing with Rahrah. When i read the replies, i didnt see it as a bitchfest, i felt people were honestly discussing Anthony's abilities and how they are superior to other things we've heard. No one is attacking you, its just conversation. If you read the thread again in a nice calm voice you will see that we are all friends here. Thats what sucks about messageboards is that sometimes how you mean to say something gets lost in the readers mind

I didn't want to come-off like one of these "ninnies" who presume to tell the B-B-Boys what's funny and what's not. . . I merely didn't want the thread turning into a thread bashing people who do. . . I'm the "positive wackbagger". . .

I miss Ant's Mike Tyson the most out of his classic impersonations. For a great example of this check out the bit "We deliver keggers" on OAVirus under 11/17/05.(My Fav OnA bit of all time.)

I know what you mean! And the best part is there's no way Anthony could have known that pee bit was coming to prep for it. A lot of guys do great voices, but who else has the improv skills to do a hilarious golden shower bit with dead-on voices of Imus, Grease & Stern?
