my truck's almost a year old, so I figured I'd start changing shit. I want a subtle lift kit, just to level out the stance, and give me a little more ground clearance for gnarly job sites and such.

So I noticed in the car thread that a few of you have trucks, can anyone recomend a good 3-5" lift kit, that'll still ride out good on the road? Price doesn't matter

Sky jacker has a good rep. check out http://www.fullsizechevy.com/ they are the best chevy trucks forum on the net.

What type of jobsites are you visiting? I'm at 4-6 jobsites for new homes and never have much of an issue in a 2wd Ranger.

Forgot to mention, I have a 4wd Ranger Supercab that I've added various goodies to.

I went with Skyjacker for just a little bit of lift to clear 31's and give a better look.

thanks, I'll check out Skyjacker, and that forum

I'm working on my welding inspectors licence, so i'll be hitting the not-yet-graded sites... they can get pretty shitty here in the rainy season, escpecially bridge construction. A lift kit is a little overkill, but what the hell:)

nice

I had a 2wd Ranger a couple years ago. I really wanted to install a FabTech lift kit and give it that Baja look, but I wrecked it a week after I paid it off and switched to liability only:arrrh:

you can get 2"s if you tighten your torsion bars. it will add a bit rougher ride......just so you know once you lift it your dealer will try not to honor the warranty.....look up your automotive consumer rights....they must honor your warranty as long as any mods you do do NOT directly cause the issue at hand....you may have to fight with them about possibly even get a lawyer....ild just tighten the torsion bars, add a limited slip in the rear if you dont already have one, do exhaust, and run a slightly bigger tire till your warranty runs out....then once thats up do what ever you want.....it will be easier on you in the long run....unless you dont care about your warranty then do what ever you want companies to look at for good Chevy IFS lifts:

Skyjacker
Pro Comp
Superlift

DO NOT GET:
Tough Country
Rough Country

I got the 30k, and it's just about up, so that's not really a problem. I just had a stainless Magna-Flow dual exhaust installed, and I have a superchip(turned off at the moment), so suspension is next:icon_mrgr

I heard that if you tighten the torsion bars, that you'll fuck up your front tires alot faster, any truth to that?

Do it right. Cranking the bars is akin to using hockey pucks for a body lift.

you just need a level lift for the front and some 285 bfg mud tires thats all a little half ton needs the leveling kit keeps the 285 { metric 33"s .. from rubbing if you lift it then you need to go with bigger tires to make it look right then the motor has to work harder to keep up :icon_cool

the advice that i give every one that asks me is this, Chevy spends millions of dollars on R&D to make sure that your truck will run and drive properly. why spend 1000$ to fuck it up.

because we as a consumer have the right to improve any capability(off road or otherwise) of our vehicle to suite our needs/wants as we see fit.......GM doesnt put winches on their trucks but ill be damned if they dont come in handy....GM also doesnt put the best brand of tires on their cars/trucks either but ill be damned if mud tires dont came in handy if your in construction either

You can get Green Keys from the dealer they will reindex the torsion bars and it will give you a few inches for bigger tires. be sure to get it aligned.

I don't think skyjacker makes a lift for ifs chevys, I have had several lifted ifs chevys I always had superlift they ride excelent and the lift system comes with double shock hoops for the front, my brother has a truck just like the one you have pictured and he has the pro comp lift on his truck and the ride is every bit as good as the superlift.
the last ifs chevy I had lifted was a 03 short bed standard cab the lift was welded in incorectly and the truck never rode corectly after that, so if the posibility of the shop fucking up your truck is a concern of yours you might consider a RCD (race car dynamics) lift this is a true bolt on system that is instaled at most Big O tire stores, a friend of mine is more than happy with the RCD lift on his truck.I think the 4" rancho lift is a bolt on system, the trucks I see around with the rancho 4" lift only apeer to be lifted about 2".
I hope this helps.

If money is no object why not make it a live axle in the front? Like a Dana 60 maybe. I'll admit I don't know much about IFS lifts.

It's a solid axle like in the rear with leaf springs. Might be overkill for what you want though. It's done when guys want to get bigger tires on their ifs rigs and maybe want bigger gears up front.

ahh. I know what you mean now

yeah, that's a bit much. I don't want to change gearing, and I'd like to stay with smaller tires, just with alot of meat. How tall would I need to go to run 33s?

stylinconcepts.com they have everything you need for a chevy truck as far as upgrades I have a silverado also and have lots of nice upgrades but not a lift kit.

What did the superchip do for your gas milage and power? I have a 2500hd gasburner and was thinking about it for the gas alone. I have close to 21k on mine in about 7 months so I put a ton of miles on it.

As far as putting a lift kit on a Z71, I wouldn't fuck with it. I went through 2 Z71s and got one of them stuck once and I had to climb out the passenger window to get out. I ripped the front bumper off getting it out with a dozer. It was on about a 45 degree angle in deep mud. I do construction so I see a lot of various conditions and Chevy is the best for not getting stuck.

Unfortunately your options are limited with the late model Chevy pickups as far as lifts go. I think tattered mentioned a 2 inch skyjacker with springs. I couldn't find it though. How would you feel about cutting your front fenders a bit and installing flairs to make it look clean and legal. I think the 33's would rub with a 2 inch. That's why you might have to cut the front fenders.

gas mileage was a little better, but I had to use premium, so that kinda cancels out any savings I may have had. But I believe Superchip makes a regular unleaded chip.....

The shifting was where I noticed the big difference, it was nice and crisp.

4" lift minimum to clear 33" tires with no ill effects of tires rubbing your fenders
