Anyone have the Treo 700w? Motorola Q? Is it worth getting? (merged)

I currently use the LG VX6000 thru Verizon Wireless but my 2 year contract is up and I’m supposed to be able to get $100.00 off a new phone.

Best Buy is an authorized dealer for Verizon Wireless (here in NYC) and I have about $350.00 worth of Best Buy gift cards that I accumulated during this past Christmas.

I’ve been doing some homework on the Treo 700w and I’m thinking about getting it.

I know I can either trust your judgment or be thoroughly entertained by the insane comments you guys have so I’m asking…what’s you’re take on the Treo 700w?...and yes, I’ve read some of redban’s posts.

i know alot of people with the 650 and everyone has loved it. the 700 looks pretty sick. id do it.

I dunno about the treo.... I know a few people that had have alot of problems with them, had them replaced a few times, lost all the infortmation in them, and eventually ended up just getting a new phone and a seperate handheld...

I second howardforums.com They have a detailed forum on palm phones. I have the 650 from Sprint which is awesome. I'll be waiting for the price to drop significantly before upgrading.

i had the ppc 6700 and HATED it because the windows pocket pc platform is too fucking slow to respond to any commands and crashes/freezes very easily (surprise). i got a 650 last month and it rocks. the layout is great. content is great. sound quality is great. and the size is so much more manageable than many other multifunction phones (not too big/ not too small)i could have gotten the 700 at the time but didn't want to have anything to do with the windows platform on a phone. if they perfected the windows ppc for treo than get it but its still too early to tell if these phones are going to be stable (for me anyway). go 650 and you shant regret it.

The only thing that sucks with the 650 is the Bluetooth. The 700 is supposed to have addressed that issue.

BT is much better on the 700P... not sure about the 700W, but I would assume it improved much the same...

I am happy that I can now stream on my phone.. no more boring meetings....

I am sure I will be adding plenty more as I get more use. I had well over 100 apps on my 650.

I just bought the Blackberry 8700C and I love it. It does all that my treo 650 did and more. The email function is great as well. I dont know about the Q though. I would just be carefull to go with anything that is brand new and now stable on the market. Blackberry has been around a while now and has a great support network if you have issues. My is through Cingular and no problems.

From what I hear of the thing, you don't. It dosn't have a touch screen for a stylus. You have to navigate with a click wheel and buttons.

All of this could be done on the Treo 700.. Everything but stream XM was handled on my Treo 650 as well...

As understand, the Q does not have a touchscreen, making navigation cumbersome IMHO...

I have had the Q for about a week now. So far I love it... sync's right up with my outlook/contacts/calander. I can drag and drop mp3's, pic's etc right onto the phone thru active sync.(or wireless sync)

I have added a 2 gig mini sd card so I can keep a ton of stuff on there.

Best part is I can stream XM online supereasy from minixm.com, then I can listen to it via bluetooth, wireless O&A...hell yeah..almost makes my myfi obsolete (except recording)

also yes it has no touch screen, I havent found it to be a prob, if you have fat big a fingers you may have trouble.
