I just bought the book "Birth of a Dynasty" by Joel Sherman. For any big yankee fans, i suggest picking it up. ITs all about how the 96 team came to be and gives the stories on all the key guys. Im only on the 4th chapter but so far im really enjoying it. Since I was only 14 at the time, i didnt know alot of the back stuff that was going on and its cool to hear about it. Its wild to read that noone in the orginaization wanted or felt comfy with Jeter as the SS but through some breaks, it ended up that way.

I didnt hear it on O&A, but I assume its coming cause Op just teased it. The ball the pitcher got warned for was behind Bonds. Bonds stands right on top of the fucking plate and the pitcher was just trying to control the inside corner. I applaud him for trying to back that faggott off the plate, its not like his arm isnt covered in a fucking half a suit of armor. No one wants to give up 714 to that cheating cocksucker.

not sure if it was consecutively or spaced out at 2 at bats but it was clearly im aiming for u and bonds face was just priceless, he didnt lose cool or anything he just looked at russ with a confused puzzled look that was fucken priceless..but i agree about that crowding the plate, i hate that shit.. ortiz does the same shit!

I saw on Baseball tonight last night. Not all of them were at Bonds. After the one he threw behind him, I think he threw three more on the corner, that didnt look like they were supposed to hit him as much as they just were intended to tie his hand up. Then he plunked him on purpose. Maybe I'm just biased though.

I had heard something about this, but I dont know the details. I THINK he might have hurt himself trying to throw the ball too hard to hit someone, but I'm not sure at all. I wouldnt be surprised if he was throwing at Tino. It seemed like Tino was always getting hit by the O's. Especially that cunt Benitez.

NEW YORK -- Carl Pavano's comeback to the Yankees may be put on hold.

Pavano, making his third rehab start on Wednesday, the second for Double-A Trenton, left the game after just one inning with tightness in his right triceps area.

The right-hander will be evaluated by Yankees team physician Dr. Stuart Hershon at Yankee Stadium on Thursday.

This marks the second consecutive start in which Pavano has left early. Last Friday, he was removed after 63 pitches, despite being scheduled to throw 85-90. He cited soreness in his bicep, but likened it to what pitchers generally go through during Spring Training.

Pavano did not allow a hit, striking out one batter in his one inning on Wednesday, but he did not return for the second inning. He had been scheduled to throw 80-90 pitches.

Pavano did not speak with the media after leaving the game, but Rich Monteleone, the team's special pitching instructor, told reporters that this soreness was worse than what Pavano had experienced last Friday.

The Yankees had hoped that Pavano would make one more start after Wednesday's outing, then be ready to rejoin the team. He has not pitched for the Yankees since June 28, missing the entire second half of the 2005 season with rotator cuff tendinitis.

Another good strong outing from Wang, we need all the inning we can get from out starters, and it seems like he's the only guy who can go a decent distance.

It certainly look like either Johnson bitched to Torre about something (speculation) or something happened and Posada said "fuck this". Fucking premadonna!!!

How is that tolerated? Here's the line up....that's the way it is. Yes, Johnson is a HOF pitcher....but, IMHO, he has not earned shit while with the Yankees to dictate a fucking thing about a line up or who his catcher is. It sets a bad precedent.

I love Damon, and ARod's leading the AL in go-ahead RBI.

Also, the Red Sox have been playing well because of players playing WELL over their heads while the yankees play hurt/underachieve.

Schilling's correction is currently taking place, returning back to the mediocre pitcher he is.

Oh, and if the Yankees were given the game today(which they weren't, a 21 year old working an 11 pitch AB against a premiere closer is what won this game), then what was last night? Torre stupidly having Maz play the OF in even though though two of the three had no chance of throwing LoDuca out on a basehit so a fly out that Damon still almost caught ends up winning them the game.

I don't think it's a correction as much as it is showing his age. Just like the Big Disappointment, he shouldn't be the ACE in the rotation. But unlike the Yankees, he isn't the ACE. He is the #2 which is a spot he fits nicely in.

Look, I'm not trying to turn this into a pissing match, "MY TEAM'S BETTER THAN YOURS". They are both very good teams and they both deserve the respect. I laugh at the Yankees because of the astronomical salaries and lack of production.

The fact is I don't see either team winning the Series this year.

Lowell I'll give you.

Youk has been getting better and better every game he has played. Last season he was behind the Cowboy so he didn't really get a chance to shine. He was a 2 time All American in College so he obviously has great talent. Example #1 of home grown tallent.

Pena usually hits the mid to high .200 range. Currently he is hitting .309. He is young. If you look at his stats, every year he gets better. The Sox traded away from Arroyo for him, so far, it looks like it's paying off for them. He is not playing above his level though, in fact, I think he is going to get even better as time goes on.

As far as Papelbon goes, he is another young gun that was brought up through the farm system. He has been on EVERY team's radar last year as he worked his way up through the Red Sox farm system, starting with the Portland Sea Dogs. Example #2 of Home Grown talent.

As far as the Money issue goes. I can laugh for 2 reasons. The Yankees spent close to $100 Million more than the Sox and atleast the Sox are playing good ball right now. BTW, they beat Philladelphia tonight 8-4.

Again, Stop with the Yanks Vs the Sox thing. You are playing the Mets this week, worry about them...

Papelbon is the real deal. He is carrying a .40 ERA this season with only 1 loss. No Blown saves.

The Sox Bullpen is pretty tight this season.

Chacon, and Wang have been pitching great..Chacon, had one rough outing because of a bruise..I have also been very pleased with Wright..He's been hitting 95 and throwing really well..I suspect Johnson will be dominant again..I don't think any Yankee fan expected anything from Pavano, so that's not a loss.

I kinda gotta agree with this. Johnson looks like a lost little boy on the mound lately. Small has been pitching shitty out of the pen, though maybe he'll have a decent start tomorrow, Chacon's last two outings have been garbage, but I'll give him a pass, cause we dont know how long he's been hurt. Plus, I like the guy. Wright has looked decent his last three starts, but I dont have much faith in him. As much as I hate Pavano, at least he woulda been another arm. Our bullpen is very shaky outside Proctor and Mo (and sometimes Farnsworth). I think once Sheff gets back, the lineup will be fine, but the pitching does scare me. I also fear Beckett, he owns us, but Moose should be able to match up with him nicely. Neither the Yanks or the Sox have the dominant squads they've each had the last couple years, but we're both still strong and pretty evenly matched. I have a feeling we'll stay close to each other all season and then the AL East will come down to the last couple weeks of the season...again.

Agreed! If you win the division, you can hope that the WC series goes 5 games and they have to battle. Then you could hope for a situation like the 2003 W/S when the Yanks had to play after a tough 7 game ALCS. Edge goes to the rested team.

His Krate has dropped since his rookie year(which tends to be the true measure of whether or not a pitcher is falling off). 2005 was an aberration for Willis, not the norm.

Let the Mets give up Pelfrey and Milledge for him, or the Red Sox give up Lester, HR Hansen, and Pedroia or Ellsbury for him.

Our payroll is $194,663,079.

Our farm has some decent players, but nothing great.

In Columbus we got Melky, Reese, Thompson, (who you obviously know) Mitch Jones has power, but is only hitting like .230 in Columbus. We still have Eric Duncan, who's supposed to be strong, but really hasnt proven anything yet. Darrell Rasner has been pitching pretty well for Columbus, he's 3-0 with like a 2.75 ERA

Trenton is a little stronger I think, which is no surprise, AA clubs usually have more talent.

Faison, Duncan, Sardinha and Randy Ruiz have all been hitting the ball well.
We got a couple good pitchers there too, Steve White is 3-1 with an ERA of something like 2.25. TJ Beam & Charlie Manning have also been pitching really well. JB Cox and Philip Hughes you probably know, theyre supposed to be nasty.

I thought the whole big to do this season was that the yanks broke th 200 mil mark. From what i remember it was around 210 at the start.
I dont think the mets have a stellar system but what i was saying was what i cant stand about the mets is how much like the older yanks they are becoming. They are likeable and that kills me. If one more mets fans tells me "they are so exciting to watch!" im gonna spit in their face.

Its just overall disgusting to see the way this team is performing. For so long they have been so good and for them to just go downhill it stinks. out of all my teams i root for (jets, knicks, rangers), the yanks have been the one constant where i knew i wouldnt get frustrated. Now im watching every night throwing things around the living room in disgust.

Both these sites have it listed the same. So I'm guessing thats accurate. The team is declining a little now because Steinbrenner is sticking his fat head into things again and making more bad moves. I used to root for the Giants until the summer after superbowl XXV. I was 10 years old and was at some workout thing for inner city kids (i got to go since i have a connection @ the NFL). We got to interact with the entire team in a mini camp all day. It was amazing. All the players were there and they all showed us how to do different things. I had a game ball from the superbowl that each of them was signing as we got to their part of the camp. At the end LT came to speak to everyone. We were in the tunnel while the underprivledgeds were stuck in the stands. After he finished, he was walking past us to go back to his car and i asked him "Mr Taylor can you sign this please?" That mutherfucker took the ball and punted it down the tunnel and just kept walking. Ive been a jets fan ever since. I even know some of the Maras and not even that would bring me back to rooting for them. Fuck them. Id rather suffer.

When you go on a 5 day, it is a lot cheaper. Thus, you get a lot of darker persuasion and they act pretty typically.

As far as your Yanks go, it's great to see Arod hitting a couple of dingers in a game that was already put away.

I have to say though, I'm really starting to like Melky though. This is what the Yanks have to do. Find young talent and groom them into the Major Leaguers. The kid's batting .313 right now.

Yeah, I've always been a huge Pujols fan since he debuted in the Majors. This will be my first time seeing him though. Last time I saw the Cardinals was in '98 during McGwire's tear.

This game has been good thus far, but I'm still pissed the ump blew the call on Jeter's groundball. Should be a 1-0 game. Plus, Thames really squandered a chance to hurt the Big Unit there. Can't do that against the Yanks or Sox & expect to win very much.

Not a good showing by our offense today. That's our biggest weakness this season b/c we don't have patient hitters. It'll be important to acquire a hitter or two at the trade deadline if we're still in the race. Hopefully we can recover tomorrow however against Small.

I think you're right about RJ's attitude. He looked like a different pitcher, his body language was much better than it has been. That also could have something to do with the fact his slider wasnt flat for the first time in a long time. But at least he pitched well. How many more starts is Chacon gonna miss? Anyone know?

I agree, they will be decent all season. I don't think they will fall off as bad as Baltimore did last season, but I don't see them making the playoffs.

As far as pitching, or more specifically Kenny Rodgers goes, he is 42 years old. In his best season, he won 18 games. Good yes, but not good enough to win any games that count, (i.e. playoffs). He has had a very impressive start and yes, he is pitching very well right now. I just don't think he is going to be able to maintain it all season.

I will admit though. I am going to keep an eye on Justin Verlander. He is off to a decent start and he is a youngster. He has 3 shutouts and 2 1 run games under his belt this season. He could develop into a real good pitcher in the near future.

They just announced on the FAN what shefs MRI revealed. I dont remember exactly what was said but I heard something about a tear in the shoulder and a detached tendon in the wrist. Im assuming that either one of those alone isnt good and both together means hes D-U-N done.

good morning 7! what i mean is that when i was growing up and maybe u also i dont know ur age is that there wasnt such emphasis on starting pitching counts only at 80 pitches and only 6 or maybe 7 innings.. then a setup man then a closer it was usually a starter and a closer.. middle relief was there but it wasnt used the way it is now where these guys come in for 1 inning and they can only be used 2 games in a row and they need a break! i was listening to goose goosage the other day say the same thing.. i know that guys throw harder now but i think its crazy that majority of these pitchers in mlb only go 6 or 7 innings!

Melky saved the day tonight!

I wasn't able to watch it, but followed it on the cell. Was it atleast a good game?

BTW, I thought it was going to be real ugly with the kid pitching...

It was an excellent game. Pauley pitched really well, Wang went deep into the game for the Yanks again. Pauley left the game with the bases loaded and Seanez walked Giambi to force in the GW run. Obviously, Melky robbed Manny of a game tying homer. Complete opposite of yesterday's game.

mlb.com has the clip of Melky's catch up. The best part is Farnsworth going, "Holy shit"

I dont know if that shows confidence in Wright or a lack thereof in Johnson. Let's just hope Wright stays hot, in his last three or four starts he's given us six quality innings in each one.

The Sheff news is bad, but I really am enjoying watching the kids play, so it's not terrible. Although, for some reason, I smell a Bobby Abreu trade coming. And I dont like it.

I do agree that wins are still overrated as a measurement of a pitcher's success. In any case, though, Schilling has been good so far this year. He may not be intimidating in the way that a guy who can throw 98 would be, but neither are guys like Mussina, Glavine, or Pedro at this point in their careers, and they are still successful because they locate well. I mean, if you want to get into it, the Yankees don't have a single 'intimidating' starter, at least none on the level of Josh Beckett.

As long as Schott & Hoffman own the A's the payroll will never grow. They are dedicated to running the team like a frugal business and not like a proud sports franchise (just another reason why sports suck more these days). Since their whole system is built around a team that just performs for average and never does anything special, it's a bit amusing to watch them defeat a team that does nothing but dump money on players. Love 'em or hate 'em, there's irony in a sweep of NYY.

Both Starting Pitchers player really well last night. The Sox's bullpen is kind of thin now with Foulke on the DL. Even though he doesn't have the same stuff he had in 04, he is still good for an inning or two.

Uh, the A's aren't owned by Steve Schott anymore. Lew Wolff is their current owner, and he apparently intends on spending a few bucks on this team. They aren't ever going to have the pockets the Yankees have so there's no point in debating that silly issue into the ground, but who cares, it's what the teams do on the field anyway.

Although it sure is fun to watch the A's sweep the Yankees in New York, it was TERRIBLE to listen to that color-hole.

I think you are right about the warnings but when Jorge was hit he was pretty pissed off about it and made sure Cleveland knew about it at which point the umps tossed out the warnings. Not sure though because I was not watching when Jorge was hit.

Mo has been getting a lot of 5 out saves/wins lately, and that's the problem. He can't be brought into every single game to get 5 outs. What the fuck did Ron Villone do to Joe Torre? The guy has a 1.62 ERA and is only brought in mop-up situations. Scott Proctor turned himself around earlier but Torre ran him into the ground like Paul Quantrill and Struze.

Yeah, unless they got A-Rod to move to third base when they didnt have a third baseman. And then brought up a second baseman from the minors that made you not miss Soriano. I also dont miss him hitting under the Mendoza line the postseason and striking out everytime he came up in World Series. They'll lose him in free agency anyway. And I wouldnt be surprised if he's playing one of the corner outfield spots in Yankee Stadium next year. Kinda like when we traded Wells for Clemens and then signed Wells back

Its shitty out, but it looks like it should be playable. Right now its not raining, but its been on and off all morning, nothing hard though. They should get the first game in no problem, who knows about the 8 o clock one though

It also seems like a faily young guy making the list being that the majority of hated people come from the last 20 or so years.

As for the ESPN thing, I heard that since so many people complained to the cable companies about not showing a yankee game in the NY area, ESPN sucked it up and decided to air it. I guess they realized noone in this area gives a shit about a rematch of a World Series that was a sweep anyways.

Yeah, I agree. The rant was hysterical, but it was kinda goofy. Who gives a shit if the players blew you off? Thats not what they were there for. People weren't supposed to bring cameras in for that very reason, the players dont wanna get harassed by people when they're trying to relax. Jimmy takes his dumb picture obsession way to seriously I think.

And you're right about him not being a very good fan, he really doesnt know a whole lot about the team.
