Arod is a fucking joke. Striking out with the bases loaded and then doing it twice more later on. I dont even give a shit if he goes .750 with 10HRs for the rest of the postseason. Send the douchebag to Anaheim.

Its easy to blame that call and to say that the Tigers really should have only scored one run there but even so the Yankees still have to get at least a single when someones on base. It wasnt even that they were bad with runners in scoring position. They were terrible when they would get a guy on. The first 5 innings it seemed like they had a leadoff guy on and would do nothing with him
Johnson also pitched well all things considering. Without the pudge play he only gives up 1 or 2 runs.
Im gonna pop a perkaset and try to forger that our season is on the line with Jaret Wright on the mount.
And I wish all you said upon that ump. Fucking cunt. How bout his call on the Tigers fair ball when it clearly hit the chalk and he called it foul cause he had no idea. Some get Rich Garces from wherever he is and put him somewhere for game 4.

From the Star Ledger today:
Now, we see if this team is anything more than a payroll and a reputation. The Yankees are constructed like an All-Star team, and so far in these playoffs, they have carried themselves like one, playing as if they wished the fans would stop voting for them so they could get the three days off.
Those championship teams were all grit, determination and pitching. Paul O'Neill, Tino Marti nez, Scott Brosius -- it's too easy for a Yankees fan to long for those days, to think everything was perfect back then, but let's face it: Those guys wouldn't have tolerated a night like this.
Who on this team is going to make it clear that the effort in the past two games is entirely unacceptable for a team with so much more talent and experience than the guys in the other dugout?
Who is going to grab second- year player Robinson Cano, get in his face and yell, "When you have a chance to make a play, you have to DIVE for that ball in the second inning!"
Who is going to find A-Rod, wherever he might be hiding after his 11th straight postseason game without an RBI, and tell him, "Enough with the excuses and 'I'm having fun' stuff -- get a (%#$%) base hit!"
It would be great if Paulie went in that clubhouse and started screaming at 'em about playing like a bunch of fucking girls. Someone has to do it, but nobody seems to have that personality on the team like back in the day.
I'm so pissed at this team right now....it's fucking ponderous!:cussing :arrrh:

Mother Shucker, Last season i thought you were probably the biggest douche on Wackbag. This season you seemed to shut your mouth and stay in your own teams thread as you beat up on sub .500 teams in your Quadruple A league. Now the that yankees are up against a wall, it seems youve decided to go back to your old ways.
You bring nothing to the table except for meaningless phrases that you and only you think is funny.
The 2000 Yankees are quickly becoming the 1990 Braves, win the division year after year, but choke in the playoffs.
So according to you every time a team wins a divison and they lose in the postseason they are chokers?
2000 we won a title. If memory serves me correctly, we threw a 5 game whoopin on your team. Do you remember that? Cause I sure as shit do. Guess the Mets were the chokers that season since they didnt win it all.
2001 they lost the World Series on the last out of a game 7. I seem to remember them going down 0-2 to Oakland then flying cross country and taking 3 in a row to win. Sure seems like they choked that season.
2002 you could possibly say they choked but then again they lost to the fucking team that went on to win it all.
2003 they avoided choking to the red sox and came back in game 7 to go to the world series where their pitching shit the bed on them. They lost in 6 games. But I guess since they lost, it was a choke.
2004, we all know. The collapse. This is where i might give you a choke job.
2005 they lost in 5 games to Anaheim who they stayed with until DoubleplAy-rod hit into a DP in the 9th. The battled all the way.
The word 'choke' seems to be thrown around rather freely in sports nowadays. You wanna know a choke job? Type in Scott Norwood and XXV into google and youll see choke. The 2000 and on yankees surely dont fit that bill.
Get some facts to back up you statements and maybe some of us will give you some respect.
Heh, you guys a bit fustrated? You fucking should be. Bunch of chokers on your team. OH, by the way. It is confirmed. Jeter is gay. He was caught sucking Tippy Tom's cock.
El oh El. Gimme those ribs you. Unfortunatly i wouldnt be able to get to them over your rolls of blubber and fat. I would wish choking upon you sir but its quite apperent all the food you stuff into your face seem to make it to you stomach.
So go back to your thread and enjoy beating up on a Dodgers team thats now without their star player. With the pitchers you have lined up for games 3 and 4, you should really be watching how much your celebrating. Remember, according to you, if the mets dont with it all, they are just another bunch of chokers just like ever yankee team since 2000.
tripwire519
10-07-2006, 03:02 PM
the entertaining part to me is that ... pre playoffs everyone was just hammering it home how bad the yankees were gonna kill the tigers, I read the threads on the yankees official msg board and now they are all eating their words. One thread comes to mind about how kenny rogers was a useless tool.
Thing about yankees fans that makes the rest of the country want you to lose so bad is how self absorbed and conceited the fans are. Even if they win today the damage has been done. Now let the bitching and excuses and whining begin.
The tigers only needed to win one to feel like they have accomplished something, the yankees are finished this year again. If they by chance get by the tigers by some miracle, Oakland will absolutely smash them.
stop acting like your shit don't stink and maybe the rest of the mlb will respect your team. They are actually pretty good.

He doesn't deserve Anahiem. He needs a stint in a shitty baseball town like Florida, where all they give a shit about is the Dolphins.
Thats even if he decided to waive his no trade which he said he wont. Im sure when your being Booed at every homegame and people are chanting for your head youll wanna waive that clause. I know this isnt all his fault but i still hate his fucking guts.

I told my friend on Tuesday night that this reminded me too much of '02 and the Angels. Sure enough its playing out pretty much exactly like that.
Yeah, Arod has sucked more dick, but is it just him? No. Giambi did shit as well. Cano sucked ass. Randy Johnson didn't perform well. Before this game I was talking to my friend and telling him that ARod was reaching Soriano in '03 status where I just wanted him off the fucking team. Now I don't think I feel that way. It would cost too much to get out of the deal and if you have enough parts in place you can hide his negatives. The parts that weren't in place were the pitching. Unfortunately I don't think there is much hope in that regard for next year since I don't want Zito and Hughes and Clippard won't be ready until '08 or so.
Sucks that they went out like this. The Curse of Meaty Tits begins.

I've hated Jeter ever since I heard the story about how he photocopied his hand with the 4 WS rings on it and mailed it to Nomar and A-Rod and told them this was as close to a ring as they'd ever get. I want the Yankees to win the World Series every year after Jeter retires, or better yet, dies. Yes, I hate that little cocky cunt. He rode the coattails of warriors like O'Neill, Rivera, Williams, Brosius, Leyritz. His big fucking moment in their WS years was hitting a home run that wasn't even a fucking home run. I love the fact that now he's the big hero and nobody cares enough about him as a teammate to pick him up. It makes me so happy to see him unhappy. I almost want the Dodgers to win so Nomar can mail him a copy of his ring.
I've always been a fan of Abreu and A-Rod. Thought they were always very classy guys. Rivera, Mussina, Posada, Matsui, and even Giambi now represent to me what the Yankees should be all about - Pride without arrogance. If you look past Jimmy's personal hatred, he's onto something -the guys he really goes off on certainly don't represent Yankee pride. Just my opinion from the outside looking in.

couldnt agree more. taking cabrerra out was a big big mistake, he gave the team alot. he started that rally in the 9th against boston that lead to the sweep, that 9nth inning double literally took all the steam out of the red sox.

Your points are moronic. I did not feel the need to respond to idiotic drivel. You actually had the balls to say:2004, we all know. The collapse. This is where i might give you a choke job.

When I woke up for work this afternoon, I said to myself, I would be be more suprised if the Yankees won than lost. And sure enough I was proved right. Totally agree with what has been said already, that the team that won the division, should have been the one playing in the playoffs. Bringing back Sheffield was a huge mistake and I feel the same way about Matsui. Seriously I think its time for A-Rod to say his goodbyes. And finally someone needs to write a book called, The Best Team Money Can Buy That Still Can't Get Out of the First Round of the Playoffs. Oh and Met fans enjoy it while it last, because your team will packing it in pretty soon also.

A-rod blowing in the playoffs should be no surprise. The yankees problem is pitching. You are not going to win playoffs games down 0-6 in the first three innings. In years past the pitching staff keeps the game at 0-2 and yankees win 3-2. There is nothing wrong with the rest of the team other than the pitching, from starters to relief, if they would have made the right moves in the last three years in the pitching department. We would still be playing. To pass the blame off to A-Rod(who will be back) or Torre who wont :icon_frow . Is bullshit.
Could use two guys that are good at getting on base like matsui and jeter, instead of swinging for the fences every at bat.

These guys are fucking "hipper than thou, too cool for the room douchbags"
All are worried more about endorsements and that next contractual stat bonus, than settling down when your down 1 and 2 in the count. They lack ability to do simple things, like get men on base when your down more than 4 runs. There are just some cases when a double goes alot farther than a homerun. Homeruns are rally killers.
Make fun of Jeter all you want (or hate him just because Jimmy does) but he is the only one on that team who isn't worried about his fucking stats when he steps to the plate.
Keep Jorge, Mussina, Wang, Melky, Jeter, Giambi, Damon, and Matsui.
The rest need to look up the meaning of team in the dictionary, instead of re-reading thier contracts to see what workouts they can get out of, or how many hits they need for the bonus to kick in.
Fuck these overhyped primadonnas. I'm not even depressed. I'm fucking angry.

Thats exactly whats been happeing in the Bronx lately. Thinking we're going to be bludgeoning people to death 12-4 every night or banking on a stellar lineup to get you through has never worked. Pitching is absolutely needed and sound fundamental players in the field not making errors either. A-Rod fucked the dog at the plate and also made errors in the field.
The title teams had none of that with the exception of Chuck Knoblauch, clutch hitting and guys coming out of nowhere to hurt you was the thing, remember Brosius in the 98 Series?
This shit with big names in the lineup and neglecting the pitching is old and won't get us shit. We need to get some arms and stop ****** the farm system, and raise good solid prospects coming up.

I have come this realization about the Yankee yeams from 2004 to the present. They have basically become the Orioles and Texas Rangers of the mid-90 to late 90's. And every team that has beaten them has was the Yankees of the same time period. This has to be changed.

Dude, we got straight up outplayed. Kenny Rogers pitched a masterful game, even if he was playing way above his head. As much as the Yanks didnt hit, Verlander, Rogers, Bonderman and Zumaya pitched brilliantly and shut down the Yanks. People around here act like we lost to the Toms River Little League team, dont forget the Tigers were the best team in baseball for 3/4 of the year. As bad as we played, you still have to give the Tigers mad respect.

In the sense that they couldn't hit the pitches, yes. With that rationale, no team ever "wins." How can a team beat themselves 6 years running? Kind of a silly arrogance in New York.
Bottom line, the Yankees are off golfing and hitting buildings. The Tigers are still playing.

As a Sox fan, here's my opinion (not that any of you fucking care) on the Yankees: Cashman's the problem. His inability to stand up to Steinbrenner and say, "hey, George, that guy peaked 7 years ago, let's not sign him for way over market value."-- especially concerning pitching. The lineup is sick, no arguing that, but all the moves have been way too obvious; spend whatever it takes to get the best free agent talent. I don't understand how you feel good about a team like that...wouldn't you rather be rooting for a team of Jeters, Posadas--homegrown guys?
As a Red Sox fan I'm supposed to hate the Yankees, but I don't. I think some of them are the best players in baseball, and as a fan I respect that, but at some point the front office has to realize that winning championships now (or trying to) and building for the future are not mutually exclusive. And, not to piss you guys off, but you fans can't expect a WS every season, and blame a guy like A-Rod when you don't get one. He's one of the best baseball players EVER; if you guys want to get rid of him, I'd love to have him on the Red Sox.

I look at the yankees as a Tiger fan.... who has never had a problem with the yankess....
and unfortunately, Jimmy's right about them. They trade all their talent on the mound.. they may keep a big name here or there (hughes), but they never have the organaztional depth that it takes to maintain a pitching staff.
Pitchers are not like hitters. Its not often that a good, young starter becomes available. Even on the shitty teams, they hold on to their best starters. The ones that hit the market for trade or FA are either injury prone (burnett, pavano), inconsistant (jeff weaver, javier vazquez), solid but 4th starter at best (lidle, E. Loiaza) or old (r. johnson, K. Rogers). So there is always a risk. These type of guys can supplement solid orgainzational pitching depth (K. Rogers), but when you are counting on one to be part of your future (pavano) you are taking a huge risk.
Look at the Tigers for example, and how their pitching staff was put together...
Miller, Verlander, Zumaya, Rodney- Tiger Draft picks.
Bonderman, Robertson, Maroth, Miner, Colon, Ledezma- Aquired as minor leaguers.
Rogers, Jones- Picked up as veterans to supplement the staff.....
and they have about a half dozen guys that could be functional major leaguers now, and potentially much better in the long term (H. Sanchez, Tata, Jurggens)

I get that the Yankees are your favorite team, but try looking at them objectively. I don't understand how it is fun, as a fan, to watch a $200 million dollar team of almost all hired help lose in the first round of the playoffs. The Yankees are a supergroup, and like most supergroups, their whole is less than the sum of their parts.
Before anyone points out that the Red Sox have the 2nd highest payroll in MLB at $120 million, the Red Sox payroll is more similar to Pittsburgh (4th lowest) than to NYY.

I agree with your cashman statement but you know you guys spend alot of money too and you guys do the same shit with old pitchers past their prime (wells and schilling)
A-rod stunk it up but he wasn't to blame for the post season garbage they just couldn't get it done
don't be sad that your world champion red sox were out of it in july.

like I said before, the Yankees payroll is $200 million. the Red Sox have the 2nd highest payroll in MLB at $120 million; the Red Sox payroll is more similar to Pittsburgh (4th lowest) than to NYY.
part of the Sox mindset is to get undervalued veterans, when available. Wells was cheap due to injury risks. It paid off last year, not this one. Schilling (13 mil) was great as far as we're concerned.
A-Rod is a great baseball player and faggot Yankee fans boo him. You act like a bunch of women scorned when he doesn't deliver your clutch hit. Do you realize that you're contributing to his ineffectiveness? I hope the Yanks dump him. I'd love to see him in a Red Sox uniform, like we were all picturing a couple years ago.

Stop it, you spend money just like we do. You are just fortunate enough to not have gone as ape shit. You still blow all the small market teams out of the water. Im sure if you didnt play in a minor league ballpark, you would generate more money each season and spend more. If a DRay or Marlins fan wanna bitch about the yankees payroll then cool but a sox fan doing it is just absured.
Contribute to Arods ineffeciveness? Fuck him. Hes a little baby. Do you know how many times I had to sit in yankee stadium and watch everyone coddle him and cheer like mad when he came to the plate? Im sick of hearing the fans take the heat because this guy cant hit a high fastball for his life. On top of all his shitty play he came out and said all that shit in the Sports Illustrated article.

How exactly is a $120 million payroll similar to the Pirates?! The same Pirates who have ONE All-Star and whose biggest signing in recent years was Jeromy Burnitz?? And the same Red Sox who have acquired Manny Ramirez, Curt Schilling, Josh Beckett, Keith Foulke, and Mike Lowell in recent years? Their more similar to the Pirates than to the Yankees? That's a joke, right? It has to be.
On another subject, there's no way that Yankees are trading A-Rod this year. He only needs 36 HRs to reach 500. It's a very strong possibility that he'll reach that mark next year, and there's no way Steinbrenner will sit back and let that publicity and attendance boost get away for another team to have.

Yes, you're missing the fact that what you posted is entirely misleading and spins the facts to make it seem like the Yankees are the ONLY team in baseball with a huge payroll. The Sox and Pirates have NOTHING in common. The Sox and Yanks have PLENTY in common. Look at the makeup of each team's roster. Is Boston's roster more similar to the Yankees or Pirates? As I recall, the Pirates never tried to trade for Alex Rodriguez.
I know it stings to have the 2nd-highest payroll and not even make the playoffs, but simply missing the playoffs doesn't erase any similarity to the Yankees and suddenly make a team on par with the Pirates (who, on a side note, have no business having the 4th-lowest payroll with that nice new stadium of theirs).

yea that the red sox still have the 2nd highest payroll in MLB. The fact that they are a mear 5 million apart from what they are apart from the pirates is so inconsiquential. Your making it like the Red Sox spend no money and are the same small market team like the Pirates. They're not. The bottom line is that Steinbreener wants to win no matter what it cost and the Sox owners have somewhat of a celing. And I say somewhat because they are still spending 17 million more than the next team (anaheim).
On top of all this who gives a rats ass what a teams pay roll is.
Playoff teams
21. Oakland 62,322,054
19. Minnesota 63,810,048
17. San Diego 68,897,179
13. St. Louis 86,912,217
14. Detroit 82,302,069
6. LA Dodgers 99,176,950
5. NY Mets 100,901,085
1. NY Yankees 198,662,180
If the teams with the top 8 payrolls were the only teams on this list, i would give your payroll arguement some merrit but it means shit. You can shell out as much money as you want but its not going to win you a championship. Every single sport has shown us this.
The yankees also have a problem where they over paid some people they shouldnt have but did because they were the yankees and they could.
3. Jason Giambi 20,428,571
4. Mike Mussina 19,000,000
5. Randy Johnson 15,661,427
10. Gary Sheffield 10,756,171
12. Carl Pavano 8,000,000
13. Jaret Wright 7,666,667
14. Kyle Farnsworth 5,416,667
Right there is roughly 85 million dollars on players who shouldnt be making that much money but the yanks decided to over pay. This is due to Steinbrenners dying need to win every season. Good on one hand, shitty on another. (I also left off Arods 25 million which even tho the yanks dont pay the full amount, is on this list)
These three guys total up to about 43 million and have earned every single penny they make. They came up through the yankee farm system and because of all they did, got this money:
2. Derek Jeter 20,600,000
9. Jorge Posada 12,000,000
11. Mariano Rivera 10,500,000
Its sickening what they spend but why shouldnt they? Year in and year out they put a competitor out on the field and for like the 6th straight season they broke the AL Attendance record which they set the previous season. What is steinbrenner supposed to do, be like Florida and cut payroll 70% and pocket that money? To him its an investment. You put it in, you get it back. It sure as shit isnt the way they should be run but thats the way he sees fit to it so thats the way its gonna happen.
FYI: The Chicago White Sox who won the series last year, spent 27 million more this season then last and missed the playoffs.
Bottom line, payroll is just a number.

On one hand yes I do think they will keep him around for that reason. But on another i think Steinbreener is so fed up with the October failures that he has to see that this guy just isnt cutting it. Its a tired story but this guy just cant play in NY under the constant scrutiny. People cheered him on last year to get him going but I dont see that happening past April 15th if at all. Im not going to boo him but im surely done cheering when its just for pity.
Im sure its out there but I would love to see Arods stats since joining the yankees in moments where its meaningless.

It's not EXACTLY what you're looking for but in late innings of close games this year, he hit .264 with 2 HRs and 6 RBI. Jeter hit .245, 1 HR, 8 RBI. A-Rod's HR total in those situations trailed only Giambi on the team. His RBIs trailed Giambi (10), Jeter (8), and Posada (7). Among guys who got regular playing time this season (ie, not Matsui or Sheffield), A-Rod's avg. in those situations trailed only Cano and Damon.
With runners in scoring position, he hit .302, 10 HR, 85 RBI. His RBI total led the team and his HRs were 2nd to Giambi. He also led the team with 43 2-out RBI.
Those stats can all be found at yankees.com on the stats page, if you want to see other breakdowns.
His October performance was certainly not good at all by any standard, but neither was anybody else's, really. Jeter, Posada, and Abreu were the only guys who really did anything at the plate. Their starting pitching after Wang wasn't that good, either. I think adding a quality starter should be a bigger priority than trading A-Rod. I think everyone in the front office knows that pitching is what will get them back to the World Series, and that Jaret Wright and Carl Pavano probably won't cut it as the 4th and 5th starters. They'll be able to add a good starter without increasing their payroll just by not picking up Shefield's option, which is a no-brainer with Abreu there.

I think Steinbrenner is mulling that now still. The fact that Torre came back means that yeah he was fucking pissed at the failures but then probably directs most of the wrath and blame to A-Rod. I think it depends what they can get for him which will determine if they move him or not.
If there's not something big coming back for the Yanks they won't do it. If they can fleece someone then they do it.
Today there's alot of talk about the Cubs perhaps piquing interest. Do you trade A-Rod to Chicago for Zambrano? I might think about that for a minute maybe. Do we do it? I dunno?
Pavano and Wright are the very definition of Failures by the way.
