Herbert Mullin is my favorite serial killer, he was convinced that to save California from being destroyed by earthquakes he had to murder people.

He beat a homeless man to death with a baseball bat, picked up a hitch-hiker and cut her stomach open, he then went to confess his sins to a priest but then wound up murdering the priest. He then set out to murder the guy who first gave him pot in high school as he blamed his smoking of pot for his insanity, but he no longer lived in his old house, thankfully the woman who lived there was able to give him directions to his old friend's new home. He thanked the woman, went to his friend's house and shot him and his wife and then stabbed their dead bodies. And then he went back to the woman who gave him directions and shot her and her two young sons who were six and nine years old. He then killed four teenage boys who were camping. And was finally caught after randomly shooting an old man who was mowing his front yard in the middle of the day and in front of dozens of witnesses.

And California hasn't been destroyed yet. Thank you Herbert Mullin.
