I'm not sure if this is the right Forum to post this or not. If it's not I apologize and MODS feel free to move it.

I missed yesterdays show and decided to download it from audible.com. After going through the sign up process I purchased the show and was presented with a 'Download it' button. When I click on the button I get a file with a .pl extension that is only 357 bytes. I can not open it and do not see any other options for a download. I thought I would just get an MP3 or other audio type file.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can help you, I had the same problem. It's confusing. It's not you, Audible doesn't explain it clearly.

Before you can download shows, you have to have some sort of Audible player installed on your computer. Go to Audible, log in, and download the player first, then you'll be able to download the show you purchased with no problem.

You don't have to listen the the shows through the Audible player by the way, it's just the default place it puts them when you download. You can put them on cd's to listen in your car, or any radio, too.

I have year long subscription, and except for the confusing part at first, I love it. It's a good service. Hope that helps you out. :icon_wink

Thanks

I just figured it out and was going to post it when I saw your response. They really don't make it clear but now that I downloaded the Audible program all is good in the world. I should be listening to yesterdays show shortly.

Thanks again

You have to download thr Audible Manager program and the WMP filter add-on so that you can play the audible files on your Windows media Player.

If you do not download the Audible Manager, you will not be able to get the files. If you don;t download the WMP add-on, the only way you can listen to the shows is using the Audible Manager software or an iPod.

That was 2 days ago

Thanks anyway

BTW, Windows Media Player Blows.
I would never even think of using that for listening to anything.
