At the RAW Live Event held on Long Island, NY, SmackDown announcer Tazz introduced Paul Heyman. Paul then delivered big news to the fans in attendance. According to Heyman, ECW will hold another One Night Stand. The event will originate from the “original scene of the crime” at Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Sunday, June 12, 2006.
Tickets for the event will go on sale Saturday, April 15 at 10 a.m.
Dammit! Can't they just leave well enough alone? Ok, now I shelled out $140 and went to the first ONS. And as a fan of ECW, I have to say that it was an incredible night. Obviously with the abscences of Shane Douglas & Raven, it didn't feel right, but there was enough talent and the crowd was hot enough that it sorta made up for it. I can only imagine that they are doing this again so that RVD can be a performer on the card. But my question is: WHO THE HELL CAN THEY POSSIBLY GET TO COME BACK? Sandman, Sabu, New Jack? once again, good attempt, but not complete. I was happy after I left the Hammerstein Ballroom last year. I said goodbye. This is just going to be added to the long list of bad sequels. If they can't stack the card with ECW guys, they just might make it WWE vs ECW and that would suck even more!
and another thing: isn't it about time that we get a wrestling show somewhere on XM? Maybe even on 202?

It should open the door for a Benoit vs Malenko, Eddie Guererro memorial match. Now Johnny Grunge has died. there is a shit load of dead ex ECW wrestlers.

If they bring New Jack back, it would all be worth it. New Jack is the man.

true, but doesn't New Jack have some sort of an outstanding arrest warrant in NY?
I really hope they don't make it another "WWE vs ECW" type thing...it wasn't that bad when they did it last year, ONS was definately my PPV highlight of the year.

Taz already made the announcement that it's taking place in the Hammerstein Ballroom and that he'll be in the show as a wrestler.
That and Terry Funk and Mick Foley have already signed on.

I thought One Night Stand meant that Vince would fuck us once, and not even a great one at that, and then leave us?

Just to point this out, reports are that the poster which is being cirulated around the net that say that HHH vs. RVD is the main event was made by a fan and is not official.
I don't know why there's all the hatred about doing this again. It was a great, fun show last year. Why not make it a yearly PPV, assuming of course they can put a full show together without making too much of it about a WWE vs. ECW type of deal.
I would hope for a RVD vs. Edge main event as it would present the best match and also makes sense, Edge was involved in the WWE vs. ECW thing last year and I'm sure could rile up the ECW crowd with some good anti-hardcore stuff. I'm guessing RVD vs. HHH though.

I think Taz actually working a match is a long shot.
Sandman has been signed for teh event, as has Funk.
RVD will clearly be main eventing for the WWE title.
Malenko will be wrestling.
But, who else is available that's not currently under WWE contract that the fans might really want to see?
Lance Storm
Justin Credible
Sabu (Long shot with TNA locking him in with Samoa Joe, but he seems to show up everywhere)
Chris Jericho (I think a huge long shot to show up)
Steve Corino is telling people he's signed for it
Mike Awesome is apparently out of shape and not interested
Masato Tanaka is rumored to be signed
I guess Bigelow is out there if he's out of the hospital
Raven is still under TNA contract I believe, even though he's MIA there
2 cold scorpio I believe will be there
Tajiri will likely appear
Pitbull Gary Wolf
Axl and Ian Rotten
Balls MAhoney
Spike Dudley
Mamaluke
danny doring
Tracey Smothers
New Jack
Blue Meanie
Perry Saturn (who is apparently recovering from neck surgery)
Taka Michinoku
Mikey Whipwreck
And I know there's more. I'll likely buy the show if I don't go, and i'm sure it will be fun, but what are they really going to put together that will top the novelty and emotion of last year?

WWE has or will have:
Rob Van Dam
Chris Benoit
Rey Mysterio Jr.
Psicosis
Tajiri
Super Crazy
Kid Kash
Steven Richards
Little Guido
Nova
Terry Funk
Sandman
Dean Malenko
Tommy Dreamer & Beulah
Al Snow
They also have Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Paul Heyman and Taz who probably would not wrestle, but could have other roles on the show, and Joey Styles to do commentary.
Assuming they do Hardcore Homecoming this year, they'll have the TNA guys (because it's doubtful TNA would let their guys wrestle for WWE, and there's a lot of bad blood between some of these guys and WWE):
Shane Douglas
Raven
Rhyno
D-Von & Bubba Ray
Spike Dudley
Sabu
Siamond Diamond
Jerry Lynn
Sinister Minister
Since WWE's tried to make a bit of a war out of this by signing talent to exclusive deals to only appear at their show, the key will be who gets more of the guys from the following:
Justin Credible (Showed up at both last year)
Too Cold Scorpio (did Hardcore Homecoming)
Mike Awesome (Did ONS)
Masato Tanaka (Did ONS)
Blue Meanie (Showed up at both)
New Jack (did Hardcore Homecoming)
C.W. Anderson (did Hardcore Homecoming)
Ballz Mahoney (showed up at both)
The rest of the F.B.I. (J.T. Smith and Tracy Smothers did both, Big Guido and Tony Mamaluke only did ONS)
Pitbull Gary Wolfe (did both, I believe)
Axl & Ian Rotten (Axl did both, Ian did just Hardcore Homecoming)
Mikey Whipwreck (showed up at both)
Bill Alphonso (showed up at both)
Doring & Roadkill (did Hardcore Homecoming)
Francine (showed up at both)
Dawn Marie (did ONS)
Tammy Sytch (did Hardcore Homecoming)
Lance Storm (did ONS)
Chris Jericho (did ONS)
Joel Gertner (showed up at both)
Cyrus (did Hardcore Homecoming)
Chris Chetti (did Hardcore Homecoming)
Kronus (did Hardcore Homecoming)
911 (did Hardcore Homecoming)
Jazz (did Hardcore Homecoming)
The one thing that might help Hardcore Homecoming is if WWE tries to trademark names of wrestlers that appear at One Night Stand and then refuse to let the wrestlers use them on the Indy scene...otherwise, I think the majority of guys will show up at One Night Stand for the better payday, but Shane Douglas will get enough talent to put on Hardcore Homecoming again if he wants to.
Well, I can tell you who WON'T be appearing at One Night Stand:
Over the years I have been called alot of things and 99.9% of the time it never bothers me. I have been called hard to work with, ego driven, fat (that one is true), slow (Guilty), etc.
But call it a bad mood today but I have to scream bullshit because this guy actually tries to make you fans pay for his "inside news".
DAVE SCHERER of PWInsider reported, and I use that term very loosly, that I have been telling people that I will be at the ECW Pay Per View. First of all, Dickhead, there is NO ECW PPV. ECW is gone. As much as we don't want to admit, its gone. Its a WWE PPV so they can sell more DVDs. And I have NEVER told anyone that I am going to do such a thing as go there. Since I have been known to "Guild The Lillies" as he would like to tell you, which means I have been known to lie, he laughed and made light of it. Ok Peckerface, who are these "people" I have told? Considering it has been no one, who is lying now?
As I put in my Blog and Live Journal the only talks I have had with the WWE had to do with guys from ZERO1-MAX and that is because ITS MY JOB. Never has my name come up from either them or me. In fact you if you look I am scheduled to be at my OWN show on June 11. So how am I telling "these people" that Dave Scherer wants you to pay him and believe? Well its because I am not. And you would think that he would ask his co-worker Mike Johnson, who is good friend of mine, if it was true. But that would take a real journalist getting to the bottom of the story. You should learn from Mike. Whenever he hears something, good or bad, he comes to me and asks.
And maybe the thing that pissed me off the worst is that he said "Corino seems to have lost his way.' What the piss is that? Lost my way? Why, because I wasn't going to cry over spilled milk when ECW closed? Because I followed my dream and went to Japan and stayed there? Because I like it there? But I "lost my way" right Dave? Who the shit are you to tell me what way I am? I love Z1MAX. Its my home. Sorry if it wasn't all right with you to become a heavyweight but eating and not sticking a needle up my ass. And with my body I would have had to but I chose, with the support of my bosses, to gain 40 pounds naturally. I guess I lost my way huh?
If I would have heard about this from a website that doesn't charge you or make you sit through a million pop-ups that screw up your computer for "inside news" then I wouldn't have been pissed at all. But this guy flat out made this shit up to take a personal shot. If you want to take a personal shot, don't ask people to pay for it asshole. I am taking personal shots at you now you freaking nerd but I am not asking anyone to pay for it. At least guys that bury me don't ask people who are going to read it to pay for it. Those people I respect.
It takes a lot of balls to sit behind your computer and make lies up about people Dave Scherer. Maybe you can come to a show and face the wrestlers you lie about? Oh wait, that would mean you would have to get off your ass and put your Internet muscles away.
Hey Dave, go fuck yourself.

Just had a thought thinking about everything. With RVD challenging for the title at ONS pretty much a lock, why do we keep assuming that it will be Edge, Trips, or Cena he will be facing at ONS? How about he goes after ECW Alum and Smackdown champion, Rey Mysterio? From my point of view this match makes a lot more sense.
Reason 1) It's ECW vs ECW, the die hards will accept it more.
Reason 2) IT would be an amazing spot-fest match, which may be the only one of it's kind on the card.
Reason 3) Because I fucking said so. :action-sm

interesting note.. JR said tonight that the holder of the MIB gets to choose which champion he wants to fight... I never knew that was a stipulation. So we could potentially have RVD challenge Rey-Rey ( Gally_Dooly) and then move to Smackdown with Angle, Batista and Orton being out at the moment.. I still dont like the idea of a Sloppy Second Night Stand but as the creator of this topic, I will hearby withold all judgement, be a fan again and enjoy this ride...
It's been said before that the easiest people to fool are the smart marks, because they think they know everything that's happening.
That's what WWE's done with John Cena. They've turned an embarassing situation of fans revolting against their chosen champion into a calculated angle. They now want to continue this reaction Cena gets. It's breathed more life into the WWE main event scene then has existed in a long time simply because people want to see him lose.
And that's why it's going to be RVD vs. Cena at ONS instead of RVD vs. Rey. They know the type of savage reaction he'll get from ECW fans, and they'll exploit it to help sell the PPV.
The funny thing is, don't be surprised if he retains there too. As long as fans as so passionate about hating the guy, why take the belt off him? It keeps people interested if only to see him lose. And it's not affecting their bottom line; the ratings, or PPV buys.
Just don't be shocked if everyone walks away from ONS pissed off.

Eventually, they figure out what you're doing and the heel heat turns into X-Pac heat.
