I just grabbed the "CREATIVE". seems good enough, 1.3mgpxs still, 640x480 video, some weird facetracking filter or some shit, and came with ear/mic set.
Was $100 with a$20 mail in rebate.
Just go to the PC Cam section and the choices are fairly cut and dry

I have the Creative webcam NX Pro . . . I think it was 50 bucks - it even came with software that will turn the camera on & record whats going on while you're away (motion activated I think) pretty kick ass if you have questionable roomates or neighbors

I went out about a year and a half ago and got that USB logitech cam with the face tracking, Mic, and such. It works good.

Ditto. Logitech cams are the best, at least the pro ones.

I just use my DV camcorder (connected via FireWire) as my internet cam. It works really well. I have a 12 foot FireWire cable so I can move my camera around pretty good. I don't have PalTalk (no Mac version-gotta get them to make a Mac version), but this set-up works great for both iChat (over AOL) and Yahoo Messenger.

I just bought the Logitech Qucikcam Pro 5000. I returned the Creative Webcam Ultra because in a darkened room the picture quality sucks.
It's zoom is 4x to the Logitech 3x but the Logitech in a darkened room has a great picture..
Both have face tracking, the software for the Logitech is easier to use.

main thing IT LOVES LIGHT !!
???
you mean it requires a lot of light in order to get a good picture? thats not really a good thing. its usually better to have a cam that works better in low light situations becuase more often than not people are in rooms w/ shitty lighting.
and as far as the orbit goes, i read a few reviews and people seem to be liking the quickcam pro line better than the orbit, plus its cheaper.

I'd go with the Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000. $70 delivered, you can't beat it.

I have a sony dv camcorder, I guess it can be used as a webcam but I have absolutely no clue what software I will need. The camcorder came with like Picture Package, it seems like pretty lame software. Is there any software out there that I need, or anybody that can help because I am clueless with this shit.

I just Got the Logitech Pro 5000 - 79$ @ Circuit City - Great Picture Quality... Lighting is always a plus.. if there isnt enough light w/any cam...the quality wont be good, as they slow the shutter speed down to allow more light.
