I was on a flight that left NYC @ 8am headed to Orlando. I have pics of the towers as the plain left LaGuardia and circled over Manhattan because I work just 5 blocks away...this was just 45 mins before.

He was part of the literary "brat pack" in the mid to late 1980's. Jay McInerney was pretty much the first with "Bright Lights, Big City" which was made into a really horrible film with Michael J. Fox, but was forgotten in time in the wake of Bret Easton Ellis' "Less Than Zero." who was also part of said "brat pack." There was also Mark Lindquist with his novel "Sad Movies" and Tama Janowitz who wrote "Slaves Of New York."

Jay McInerney has been turned on by literary critics who have been less than kind to him post-Bright Lights, Big City hype.

There is a great Jay McInerney reference in the Hobgoblins episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

I still think that- for the most part- a heavy, heavy majority of people don't care about 9/11 and we're pretty much the same as we were before hand. The people calling up about 9/11 probably don't even think about that day at all UNTIL someone questions it or questions people's feelings on it or question how much they cared.
