I only have the basic cable plan, no HBO or anything. I wanted to get HBO to catch the Sopranos final season. I call them and they say no problem, we'll send someone out to do whatever has to be done outside on 2/25 and you'll have HBO. I called at 4 to see what was going on and they said he must be running a little behind. At 6 I called again and was told the person was unable to access the line because it was obstructed. I live in a complex so all those feeds are in green boxes which are easy to get to. Lamont and Tanisha tried to help:icon_roll Sorry this was a lil long

Be happy you can get HBO without having to purchase some crazy package. It is that way with Comcast in Dallas. I was spending almost 100 a month for a while just to get HBO in HD.

Satellite TV is the only way to go. With Directv I get 150+ channels, HBO package, and Tivo service for $65 a month, and I've never once had a problem with the hardware or the service.

I'm about to recommend to my roommates that we cancel our cable. I was quoted $105 (still fucking high), am being charged $139. I asked how much it would be if I cancelled certain services - $148! Then I asked what happens if I don't cancel the services - $155 when my 'special' cancels. These fucking fucks I called them 3 fucking times. I don't even have a tv, my roommates do. I'm just going to get high speed internet through a different company.

Fuck you Time Warner.

I'm getting satellite and some cheap high speed.

Exactly! And you can log onto directv's site and add/delete any channels anytime YOU want. And the change is instant. You can add HBO only as long as the Sopranos are on and delete as you see fit.

COMCAST=overpriced shit

It really is such bullshit having to pay an additional $20 a month just for HBO when you have to pay like $60 a month for a shitload of other channels you will never, ever watch in your entire life. I DONT WANT HOME AND GARDEN or VH1 SOUL!!!! I don't even want every HBO channel, just HBO 1 is fine. Or even just give me a deal where I can just get HBO ON DEMAND. If I could get HBO on Demand for a price lower than it would be to get regular HBO, fine, I can deal with being a few hours late for Sopranos. I might get HBO when Entourage/Lucky Louie comes on but it's really not worth it for Sopranos to me.

I really hope that the A La Carte programming comes true.

Some of you might hate me for this, but I get Comcast Digital Cable with HBO for $49.99/month. Shortly after I moved into my new apartment and set up my cable with that package for about $86/month, I got a notice from them telling me that they were sorry to hear that I recently decided to cancel my service (which I hadn't done) and that--in order to keep me as a customer--they were offering me digital cable with HBO for $49.99/month for an entire year. I called Customer Service to ask if I was really eligible for the offer, and they said I was, so I took it.

I was actually only going to keep HBO long enough to see the Sopranos and Lucky Louis before switching to basic digital (which still would have cost more than I'm paying now), but now I'm keeping it until next January when my deal expires. Of course, by then, they could send me another one of those offers again.

By the way, click4more: If you don't have digital cable already, watch out. Around here, Comcast only offers premium channels if you have digital, so upgrading might be the only way you can get HBO--and that'll cost you more than $20/month extra. What's even better is that their website doesn't tell you this when you set up your service online. I actually tried to get basic cable with HBO, and the website let me order it that way, but I found out later that HBO is only available with digital because they don't even issue analog boxes anymore.

I have no idea what's available in your area, but I have DSL through SBC for $26 a month, and that's not an introductory rate. It's not as fast as cable, but it's plenty fast enough for me and it sure beats the shit out of the $60 a month that Comcast wants.

Satellite radio & TV, and DSL. :xyxthumbs

Burn in hell, Comcast.

That's what I thought, but they didn't mention it and I forgot to ask. I think you need to have some kind of box for that, don't you? I'm sure they would have fucked that up too. I forgot about Lucky Louie. Now I'm even more pissed.

Before Comcast took over, all that needed to be done was they had to send someone out to change a filter, but we got fucked like Tyson's town and you have to have digital now.

If they said it would take a week or two, it sounds like you have the option to get it without digital.

Comcast really pissed me off when they said I could get the digital box to use just for HDTV for only 10 dollars extra, but I couldn't get HD HBO without getting one of those fucking digital packages even though I would already have the box. That was the day I cancelled my cable. I am not going o pay 100 dollars a month for 13 HD channels, when I can get 6 of them with an antenna.

Thanks to deregulation cable has gone out of control. Now Verizon wants to get into the cable game and Comcast is spending your money to put out anti Verizon cable ads. Thank God your are raising our bill another 6% Comcast, you are proving Verizon's point. Cable needs competition.

Comcast really sucks. I switched 4 years ago, but sadly people in condos and apartments may be stuck w/their shitty cable co.

On a slight Directv complaint, they don't have HBO Comedy or HBO Zone which is where they air the HBO comedy half hours. I have not seen bill burr, jim norton, patrice, vos or bonnie's specials b/c I can't get those channels.

If it wasn't for my nosey ass neighbor I would have tried it maybe. I would think those boxes are locked, no? It's really not worth the hassle for getting caught doing some dumb shit like that anyway. I was told if I call Monday I could speak to a white person. She might have said supervisor, not sure.:icon_lol: I wasn't nasty to the people I dealt with on the phone. I know they can't do anything, especially on a weekend.

So I called today to see why no one came on Sat and now I'm told I have to upgrade to digital for HBO. So it'll be like $100 a month just for HBO, no thanks. So just for kicks I called back a couple of hours later and was told I don't have to upgrade, they just need to unblock the feed in the box. What?!
He said it's only in a few towns you can still do that and mine's one of them. He just put my zip in the computer and had the info. It'll be 2 weeks until they can send someone now. We'll see.:icon_roll

There is a little filter on the line, remove it, FREE HBO!

Since you live in a complex, if you can't figure out which one is yours, remove all of them and everyone has free HBO.

pop the box open and remove the filter, the locks on the box are cheap, give it a kick.

all you do is, remove your cable, remove the filter, and plug your cable back in.

When you pop the box, and break the lock, the next time the Comcast guy comes out, he is supposed to check every line in there to make sure no one has removed a filter. There is a colored tag on every line to indicate which filter should be on that line. If you get caught with the wrong filter, they put a special tag on your line that tells every Comcast guy that comes out in the future to double check your line.

Not to mention Comcast is starting to change the filters they use to make them impossibile to remove if you do not have the proper tool. We already have those here in Dallas.

It works fine here in Delaware. I ahve had free hbo for 5 years now.

The cool thing about living in the burbs is that, unless 1 of your two neighbors has a problem, they never come out.

Hey it is worth a shot, if you get it free for a year, so be it.

Dude, I cancelled Time Warner Cable. But you can't just call them and cancel. I called the next day to verify it was cancelled, and they said they never received a call from me. I was on the line 20 fucking minutes the first time! So this second time, surely they would cancel me. Nope! I had to call a third time, and THAT was the time they told me I had to bring back the equipment before they cancel me. So I brought it in. 2 weeks later, we still have a signal. I don't know if we are cancelled or what. If I get another fucking bill from them I am flipping the fuck out like I have never flipped out before. These people will do whatever unethical thing they can to keep your business.

And they were giving me shit when I mentioned I was going over to satellite for half the cost. If you're going to charge double what your competition does, try to have some fucking customer service.

If you can make the switch, do it.
