Heavily rumored matches:
Undertaker vs. Mark Henry
Booker T. vs. The Boogeyman
Lashley vs. Finlay
The Taker and Booker matches are virtual locks...It's just a matter of when WWE will officially announce them. Lashley vs. Finlay is as well, but there's a chance that could take place on the pre-show on Heat.
There's also rumors of Trish vs. Mickie as well as Candice vs. Torrie Wilson. There's absolutely nothing about whether either set of tag titles will be defended as neither Show & Kane nor MNM are in big feuds right now. Might be a good idea to have the face each other and unify the belts.

You forgot a possible Hogan vs. Stone Cold
After a few episodes when RAW made its switch back to the USA network, Hulk Hogan made a challenge to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a match that would take place at this year's WrestleMania 22.
Following that challenge made by Hogan, we have yet to hear Austin's answer to the match until now. Recently on Steve Austin's official website he made his responce. You can read what the rattle snake has to say about Hulk Hogan and his match at WrestleMania 22

That's a bunch of horseshit, prozac. While it's not entirely impossible that the match can happen, it's very unlikely, and the only places that "news piece" showed up on were stupid newz sites, and the link given at the end of the article was an advertisement.

Definitley, the tag team division has really sucked for a long time now. Although I do like MNM and the team of Show and Kane, they have no one else to fight.

I just found out that I have off the next day!
WMs were always more fun watching it with a bunch of drunk wrestling fans. I officially throw my name into the hat for being down to do something of this nature.
Definitley, the tag team division has really sucked for a long time now. Although I do like MNM and the team of Show and Kane, they have no one else to fight.
They were teasing on PWInsider today that there is going to be an interpromotional match for Wrestlemania, but it's in their pay section so I'm not sure what it is. Other than MNM vs. Show/Kane, I can't think of another inter-brand match that would take place.

I had read that the Money in the Bank was going to be interpromotional this year, but then again that report also said Carlito was going to be in the match with RVD and Benjamin from Raw (if you're curious, the Smackdown guys suggested were Hardy, Finlay and Lashley). Anyway, on Raw they clearly said the winner was going to get a WWE title shot and nothing on the website suggests this is a interpromotional match either, so I'm guessing it's just Raw.
Kugzilla
03-01-2006, 08:02 PM
Carlito will likely find a way to squirrel his way in-I think they want to make him work for it for a week or two...
It's pretty much a lock that Money in the bank will be interpromotional, but what else is interesting is how much they've been doing that-the Chavo-Orton thing, SNME's match with HHH and CEna facing the Smackdown guys. There are those who are speculating that the brands may (eventually) re-mesh.
*POtential Spolier below, reported on PWInsider.com*
Expect to see the new fella "Giant Singh" at Mania getting involved with the Undertaker. Singh is enormous (Was the ping-pong guy in the new 'longest yard' movie) He's not said to be a very good worker, but he's huge. He'll be attached to Davari and be involved at Mania.
Can't wait for that....although I've not seen him work, I can't see this going much better than El Gigante....
But, I digress...
askewcore
03-01-2006, 08:04 PM
You'd have to make a concious effort to be worse than El Gigante. Anyone who doesnt have a body suit with muscles spray painted on would automatically be better.
Putting the brands back together is a smart move.
I had read that the Money in the Bank was going to be interpromotional this year, but then again that report also said Carlito was going to be in the match with RVD and Benjamin from Raw (if you're curious, the Smackdown guys suggested were Hardy, Finlay and Lashley). I don't think it'll be three from Smackdown, because I still have to believe at this point Carlito and Masters are locks to be in the match. But after those two, RAW doesn't really have a 6th guy to bring into the match outside of Chavo (who already lost his qualifying match) or one of Big Show & Kane (who no one should want to see in a ladder match)
So I could see them working a gimmick where Vince McMahon shows up backstage at Smackdown and as a "token of good will" offers Teddy Long the chance to put one Smackdown star in this RAW specialty match. If that's the case, it'll be Matt Hardy. Not because he has any chance to win or he'll be getting a push. But because he knows how to work ladder matches and it'll make it look better.

That, or Vince decides since the Spirit Squad have so much team spirit, they count as a cohesive unit and all of them get the last spot.

03-01-2006, 10:15 PM
Enough with the brand split ending crap already. Together or separate, if the writing sucks, the show will suck. Both shows have talent pools that are plenty deep, and SD uses theirs a bit better, but the problem has nothing to do with the fact that the brands are separated.
Please understand that, everybody ever in the history of ever.
askewcore
03-02-2006, 12:02 AM
But if they join them together again, it will just give them more possible angles. The shows wouldnt be so repetitive and predictable.
It's really annoying how you state whatever you say about wrestling as fact.
commish13
03-02-2006, 06:09 AM
Because that is fucking fact. Just because there are more people available doesn't mean it's going to stop being predictable. Putting everybody together on one show isn't going to all of a sudden make the garbage writers into brilliant storytellers. That's just not how things work.
Things are repetitive and predictable because they refuse to try to make new stars or even put new, talented people on TV at all -- they choose to stay the boring, uncreative course. That wouldn't change if the brand went back together. You might get some matchups that haven't happened in a while and some stuff that's never happened before, but after a couple months, they'd be right back to having used up all of their matches and it will just get repetitive and predictable again, and that's assuming that for a while it stops being predictable.
In the end, it's common sense. Just because there are more people doesn't mean things will be more gooder. More gooder booking equals more gooder programming, and that's pure fact, no matter how you look at it.

Anyone else see the ole double turn coming in the HHH/Cena match? The climate is perfect for it. Some people always cheer HHH and putting the belt back on Cena has more people booing. HHH always seems to stink as a face though.

Yeah, that could be cool, but the only problem is that HHH doesn't really want to be a face, as it would mean that he has to sell for heels and occasionally get his ass kicked. His promo on RAW was word for word scripted to do nothing but tickle his own nuts and crap on Cena, which the fans don't need any help with.
I don't see the brand separation ending anytime soon either, though they are clearly doing more crossbrand stuff then they used to. The creative side of things will be a problem regardless of the size of their talent pool. I agree that a bigger pool could potentially mix things up and show is some stuff that we haven't seen of late, but they have to get creative to be creative.

The current plan is to have RVD win the MITB match. Have him challenge HH at One Night Stand, and win the WWE Title that night, only to have HHH envoke his rematch clause and win the title back the next night. This comes from someone who works for WWE. I can't name names, but trust me, that this is fact, for the time being at least.
Sutsu
03-12-2006, 09:26 AM
Gally, I REALLY hope that's not true. While getting the title is a big honor and the crowds would go absolutely crazy to see RVD win it at an ECW show, I don't see it as anything more than a slap in the face to win it one night and drop it the next. If nothing else, it you would probably have HHH say that RVD had to win it ECW style because he's not talented enough to win it in a WWE ring with WWE rules.

Looks to be a pretty brutal card in terms of Wrestlemania at least. The triple threat and Money in the Bank (should be interesting to see if Flair can put on another great performance, Shelton must assuredly will) should save it but some of the other matches just have awful written all over them. I guess people will tune in just to see Cena get his ass kicked (he should get his ass kicked so bad that he is forced to sit a few months out and regroup).

I dunno... while the buildup stinks, most of the matches look like they will deliver. The only ones that will more than likely be bad are the Casket match and the World Tag Title match. Otherwise they'll all be good to great.
The RVD thing makes sense. I think they'll have a tough time selling another ECW PPV this year, but an RVD title shot could get it done.
And you know HHH is looking to pad his title reign numbers so he can eventually pass Flair, so I'm sure he doesn't care about giving the belt up for one night.
I wonder if Super Crazy will get the ECW PPV push too. The guy's been one of the best parts of Smackdown over the last few months.

The biggest problem on the card is HHH/Cena and that'll probably kill the card since it'll easily be what the show is based around. I do like the triple threat. They've basically set it up where any of the three can win. I'm curious to see Edge/Foley. If Foley's in any kind of shape, that match could steal the show.
tysonpunchinguterus
03-12-2006, 05:34 PM
I'm looking forward to the Edge/Foley, HBK/Vince, and Money in the Bank matches. Everything else seems either average or mediocre. I don't mind HHH in the main event, but I do mind Cena being his opponent. I don't ever want to see Randy Orton in a main event at Wrestle Mania and I don't like Rey Mysterio much at all, so that match doesn't do anything for me.
I might just skip WM again this year and watch the Sopranos instead.
I do like the Smackdown title match...really any of them could legitimately win. WWE could go with Rey Mysterio for the big Eddie tribute to end WM this year. Or they could go with Orton to build towards a program with Batista once he comes back. Or they could have Angle retain and lead to a final blowoff match for the title between him and Undertaker after their two great matches earlier.
I don't mind HHH in the main event, but I do mind Cena being his opponent.
I mind both of them. HHH is boring as hell and Cena can barely wrestle. This'll be almost exactly like HHH/Batista at WM last year, and I hated that match.

-Paul London vs. Gregory Helms (this match will happen for the Cruiserweight title...it's just not certain whether it will be at WM, on Heat before WM, or on Smackdown (or Velocity) next week. This could very well turn into another Cruiserweight open, too.
-MNM vs. The Mexicools
-Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
-Candice Michelle vs. Torrie Wilson
If all four of those rumored matches take place, that's bring the match count to 12 which is in the ballpark of how many matches usually appear on Wrestlemania. The question is who they decide to go with for the last MITB spot. You have to think both Lashley and Booker T. will both be on the card. If Lashley gets it, they could always add Booker T. vs. The Boogeyman, since it fits the current storyline. If Booker gets it, then I don't know how they'd work Lashley into the card.
Booker T. vs. The Boogeyman is officially added to the card.
That also means it's almost a lock Lashley is the last guy for MITB.
And Trish/Mickie was setup on SNME for Wrestlemania, but hasn't been added yet.
So the only real questions about the card revolve around the Cruiserweight and WWE Tag Team Titles. Helms will probably either defend against Paul London straight up, or in another Cruiserweight Open. There is no sign of who if anyone MNM will defend their tag titles against, though.

No they don't. TNA puts on a ton of spotfests for the most part (with the exception of Joe, Styles, Daniels, and Christian who actually map out matches pretty well), which is cool to see every once in a while, but not every other match. And their heavyweight division stinks on ice, and as if Jarrett wasn't bad enough, it's about to get worse with Scott Steiner coming back.
That said, I agree this Wrestlemania doesn't look great on paper. Mostly because Cena/HHH is the headliner.

in some cases i will agree that some TNA matches are just a bunch of high spots strung together but normally it is really more than that...joe, AJ styles, Christopher Daniels, Chris Sabin, Petey Williams, etc are all very talented guys that know how to tell a story in a match without talking on a microphone weeks before hand
and yes...the heavyweight division is lacking...i agree....when steiner came out at Destination X i got up and walked out of the room...but I dont think he will play that large of a roll...love him or hate him Jarrett is a good wrestler and so is Rhino, Cristian, Abyss, Bobby Roode, Sabu, Sting, Hardy, etc....
but yes...TNA needs work, but thats anything...give it more a chance

He's "earned" it? How? By delivering stiff kicks and generic spot fest moves?
Guys like Ted Dibiase, Tito Santana, Rick Martel (AWA doesn't count especially when they make him look like a huge bitch against Stan Hansen), Owen Hart, etc etc all WORKED their ass and never got to hold the belt. Maybe if RVD didn't constantly get injured due to his horrible style he would be able to stick around and gain some momentum. I remember his feud with HHH three years ago or whatever it was and it was TERRIBLE.
However, I think he will win the match and bore me to tears this summer.

Still matches in the works for MNM or Gregory Helms to defend their titles as of yet.
Doesn't look like the Cruiserweight Title will be defended. There's a story on WWE.com that says Helms is out for at least a month after he had surgery to fix his broken nose. He said he can't endure contact to it during that period of time and won't be able to wrestle.
That probably also means we'll get a four-way tag match between hopefully MNM, The Mexicools, London & Kendrick, and Kash & Noble, although the fucking Gymini will probably get in ahead of Kash & Noble.
I've seen enough, I'm ready to make my picks.
Torrie Wilson defeats Candice Michelle - Stacy Keibler makes her final WWE appearence and helps Torrie win.
Paul London & Brian Kendrick defeat MNM for the WWE Tag Team Titles - This finally gives MNM another tag team to wrestle.
Trish Stratus defeats Mickie James - Trish won't lose the belt until she faces Melina again
Booker T. & Sharmell defeat The Boogeyman - Booker steals the win, Boogeyman captures Sharmell and regurgitates worms on her after the match
RVD wins Money in the Bank - I'll go along with the rumor that RVD wins, and uses MITB at One Night Stand this year. By the way, it's a horrible idea. As an ECW fan, I don't want the ECW show centered around the WWE title. And probably most people will feel the same way. They booed Rey Mysterio last year just for using his WWE moves
Chris Benoit defeats JBL
Big Show & Kane defeat Carlito & Masters - Big Show & Kane seem to always lose at WM...this year, Vince gives them their moment and has them destroy Carlito & Masters, who'll eventually win the belts, but not at WM.
Undertaker defeats Mark Henry
Mick Foley defeats Edge - Like Big Show & Kane, Mick gets his Wrestlemania moment too...doesn't reallly hurt Edge anyway, because he's out of the title picture at least through Summerslam with Triple H back as the top heel. Edge has plenty of time to build himself back up.
Shawn Michaels defeats Vince McMahon
Triple H defeats John Cena
Rey Mysterio defeats Randy Orton and Kurt Angle - Probably the toughest to pick, and my pick for match of the night. WWE hasn't tipped their hand on this, but it's hard to believe they'd have two heels, Orton and HHH both win the titles at WM, where heels usually never win the belt. The other thing that usually never happens is the champion retaining the belt. That leaves Rey Rey, who's my pick. Chavo Guerrero comes down and attacks Randy Orton, setting him up for Rey to hit the 619 and pin him for the title. That leaves WWE with the ability to do either Mysterio/Angle (Angle never lost) and Orton/Chavo at the next PPV, or the Triple Threat rematch (Angle/Mysterio/Orton). Either way, my guess is we're left with Team Eddie celebrating to end the night.
If Angle happens to end up winning, we'd probably get Angle/Taker III
If Orton happens to winning, we'd probably get Angle/Orton, or the Triple Threat rematch

I mostly agree accept:
Mickie James def. Trish Stratus - Trish needs a new rivalry
Carlito and Masters def. Kane and Big Show - There is no reason for them to hold the belts any longer...Kane and Big Show meet at the next RAW PPV
Cena def. Triple H
Randy Orton def. Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio
To setup Cena moving to Smackdown, and Orton to RAW. Orton will then lose in the next PPV to Triple H, and Cena will make a heel turn and get beat down by either Rey Mysterio or Angle.

This is such an original ending to a RAW before a PPV. Have HHH come out and distroy his opponent with a sledge hammer.
How the hell could the WWE put this as the final lead up to the biggest PPV of the year? I just watched McMahon and Cena do a test of strength for 5 mins. Ugh. I was considering getting the PPV but I dont know now.

Are you FUCKIN nuts!?!?!!? Why would ANYONE pay for a mediocre AT BEST product. Vince is a lot like Hoo Hoo, no more passion to put on a good product. U wanna spend your money?? Might I suggest all girl roller derby. For the bargain basement price of, I don't know, 10-12 bucks, you could POTENTIALLY have a hot chick fall on you lap. Here's some links to get ya started:

I am ordering the WM, but not for Cena Vs HHH. I am ordering for the MITB match (witch RVD has to win). I want to see Orton win the title, but they are doing a good job of not making it obvious on who is gonna win that one. I think there were like one or two other matches as well so I will throw out the 50 bucks and watch.
I have no interest in anything on RAW's side of the card except for Edge vs. Foley.
But I do want to see Angle vs. Orton vs. Rey, Benoit vs. JBL, and I hope they give MNM a tag title match, so I'll probably watch Smackdown this Friday and make my decision off of that.
Whether I order it or not, and even if it ends up sucking, I'll still by the DVD when it comes out to add to the collection.

I was going to order it, only because I thought Bret Hart was going to be at the event. He is only going to be at the HOF ceremony and fly out before WM starts. To me, Bret Hart being there would have made it a classic Wrestlemania for me that I would have gladly paid to see. But I'm not coughing up $50.00 now to watch a glorified RAW.
EDIT: Right after I wrote this, I realized that I missed RAW this week because I was out of town. I went to WWE.com to see who the latest HOF entry is and who do I find? William "The Refrigerator" Perry. What the Fuck??? While I fondly remember Superbowl XX and the memories of #72, this fat motherfucker only appeared in a WWE ring once and lost. I thought they were trying to make the HOF seem legit. If they wanted to "honor" him somehow, bring back the Slammy's and give him one. As much as I disagree with inducting Eddie Gurrero in(they are milking him for everything they can. Owen Hart is just as dead as he is, died during a PPV in a WWE ring no less, and he hasn't been inducted) at least he was part of the industry. Perry was a gimmick in the NFL and a gimmick for the WWF at the time. Now they are dragging him out and because they are in Chicago? Fuck, just let him make an appearence at Wrestlemania, show a montage and move along. Don't put him in the HOF for a cheap pop. This is bullshit. I would completly understand if Bret Hart said "Fuck this", and didn't bother with it.

I'm actually pretty excited for tonight. I'll post some updates, as I'm sure some others may, in case some of you guys didn't order it. Pre-Show should be starting in about 4 minutes...there's usually a match, which my guess will probably be MNM defending the Tag Titles.

This pre-show is terrible. Its pre-recorded in the WWE studios. Kinda lame that they would have this before their biggest PPV of the year. Oh well, at least it gives me a chance to catch up.
Im gonna be writing a running diary of this ala The Sports Guy on ESPN.com. I should be pretty bombed so im sure it will get humorous. Ill post the link when im done.
EDIT: This feature on the HHH and Cena main event makes me believe that Cenas gonna win. ugh

Yeah, I'm disappointed with the pre-show. Hopefully that means they'll squeeze MNM on the card. It's a crime they don't have a match.
The only way Cena wins is if McMahon comes down and screws HHH, a la Austin/Rock at WM X7. I think that's doubtful, so I picked HHH to win.

Found this on the PWInsider live arena report:
"- They are holding an Inter-brand 18-Man Battle Royale for the fans in the building (and probably the DVD again). Participants included: Eugene, Viscera, Goldust, Gene Snitsky, Sylvan, Tyson Tomko, Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, Matt Striker, Super Crazy, Psicosis, Sho Funaki, Steven Richards, Johnny Nitro, Joey Mercury, Road Warrior Animal, William Regal, and Simon Dean. The wrestlers had T-shirts on representing their brand, similar to last year. Simon Dean grabbed the mic and tried to speak, but was immediately thrown out.
- Viscera won the battle royale, last eliminating Gene Snitsky. Viscera also eliminated MNM near the end. Viscera grabbed Lilian Garcia and went to kiss her. She started to protest, but then let him, and the crowd popped for it."
So much for that...not only could MNM not get on the card as Tag Champs, but they lost to Viscera in a dark match battle royale.

I'm getting pretty sick of all this eddie shit. how come owen hart didnt get it so good when he died in the ring?
Because there was a lot of bad blood between WWE and the Hart family over the way Owen died. They were sued by Owen's widow for negligence, and WWE probably didn't want to portray an uncaring attitude towards it going into a lawsuit.
