I can take a lot, and I know listening to O+A a lot tends to desensitize me to the real tragedies behind certain events, but this is one of the most horrible things I've ever read:

Woman Admits Slashing Baby's Throat For Revenge

Killer Eligible For Parole When She Is 49

BOSTON -- Natalie Rodriguez sobbed as if even she couldn't believe what she was hearing as a prosecutor described how she snatched her friend's 9-month-old baby from his crib, slit his throat and let him bleed to death in a snowbank. "It wasn't supposed to happen," the 23-year-old said. But it did. Rodriguez on Tuesday tearfully apologized as she entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder and kidnapping charges that will keep her in prison for at least another 26 years for the December 2002 slaying of Xavier Antonio...

Prosecutors said she was drunk and enraged at being kicked out of her childhood friend's apartment, and killed the baby in retaliation....

Rodriguez admitted she silently lifted Xavier out of his crib at 3 a.m., picked up a knife from the kitchen, placed him face down in a snowbank in a neighbor's driveway, and slashed his throat. She then hid the boy's body under a trash can in the driveway.

How do you not put a bullet in your own head living with the fact that you slashed the throat of a nine-month-old?

It's not her fault. I am sure she's got childhood issues and really can't be held responsible for this. :icon_roll

Maybe it all started when her sister was born.

that was the first thing that came to my mind,

that and one less welfare recepiant, the only good thing is that women in jail kill baby killers there even worse than men and child molesters

No one picked up on what I think is the most amazing part of the story....29 years for slashing a newborn's throat.

Ahhh... but the difference is that those psychos drowned their kids, this chick used a blade, which is one of the prevalent stereotypes for that race.

Stereotypes exist for a reason.

Not Pre-meditated.

Need that to be 1st degree in Mass.

Kidnapping & Murder - should be an automatic death penalty.
We waste too much time & money on useless trash.

what defines it being premeditated? her writing down her plans on paper? seems kinda hard to prove if only one person is involved then.

If the baby was hers, she could just claim postpartum depression and receive psychiatric counseling instead of prison. That's what they do in Britain.

I thought the same thing as well...

But

A prisoner costs a hell of a lot more than a welfare recepiant.

They should have put her in front a firing squad as soon as she said "guilty". 26 years? what the fuck.

Not Pre-meditated.

Need that to be 1st degree in Mass.

1st degree murder is murder involving special circumstances, such as murder of a police officer, judge, fireman or witness to a crime, multiple murder, the use of torture or especially heinous means, or means requiring great preparation, such as poison or lying in wait.

Second degree murder is any premeditated murder or felony murder that does not involve special circumstances.

This would be Third degree murder because it was not premediated.

what defines it being premeditated? her writing down her plans on paper? seems kinda hard to prove if only one person is involved then.

Basically, if there is something to prove that there was thought involved in murder and that is was not the spur of the moment.

It's not surprising at all. The real inequality in the justice system is the way men and women are treated. Women always get off with light sentences.
