Watch List Delays Reservist's Homecoming (http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/04/12/D8GUP1VG9.html)
MINNEAPOLIS
A Marine reservist returning home after eight months in Iraq was told he couldn't board a plane to Minneapolis because his name appeared on a watch list as a possible terrorist.
Staff Sgt. Daniel Brown, who was in uniform and returning from the war Tuesday with 26 other Marine military police reservists, was delayed briefly in Los Angeles until the issue was cleared up.
The other reservists arrived at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport as scheduled, but instead of immediately meeting their families, they waited on a bus for Brown.
"We don't leave anybody behind," 1st Sgt. Drew Benson said. "We start together, and we finish together."
Brown, 32, arrived more than an hour later. He had also had airport trouble when he was trying to go to Iraq _ and he missed his plane then as well.
"A guy goes over and serves his country fighting for eight or nine months, and then we come home and put up with this?" he asked.
Nico Melendez, a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration, said Wednesday he could not confirm or deny whether someone was on a watch list. He said Brown's case should have been fairly easy for the airline to clear up in Los Angeles.
"It should have taken 10 minutes," he said. "We do regret that an American hero was inconvenienced."

If anyone should comprehend the importance of trying to catch them while they're attempting to blend into our society to pop up and create terror without drawing attention, this guy should.
It isn't bullshit. It is life.

Yeah, that makes more sense to me I guess.
After thinking about it, this seems like one of those "See, I told ya so" stories...

Lets just flush the TSA down the shitter already. Arm the aircrews and there will be no more problems, I promise.

Hey look. It is "we're losing all of our freedoms down the slippery slope and we're being lied to by the big bad govt." guy.
Sure. Lets just go anarchy and screw laws and rules. They're just the man's way of keeping us down.

Not at all, I'm "Close the borders and stop allowing 50,000 criminal illegal aliens march around the country while Hezbollah sneaks across the border and stop hassling me" guy.
We let anyone into this country, and the only people that get scrutinized are regular folks. Does that make sense?

Illegals are one thing, but the people that crashed jets into our buildings came here LEGALLY. They WERE regular folks.

Actually that's not true. Falls Church, Virginia for example is a place where sactuary laws prevent the locals from apprending illegals for "just being illegal" and it's a known area where lots od day laborers flock. There you can find an entire culture of illegal aliens, many know how to obtain false documents, like drivers licenses, social secutity cards, etc... Hani Hanjour and Khalid Almihdhar both headed there to get false documents. Those were two of the 9-11 hijackers who were here illegally. The proximity to Washington from Falls Church played a major role. Today those same sanctuary laws imposed by the feds remain in place. And today you can go there and the same illegal alien underground is alive and well.
Moussaoui is an illegal alien, a French Moroccan.
There are several cases where illegal aliens, along with people here on expired student visas have committed terrorist acts against America. Mohammed Atta's visa cleared 6 months after 9-11, where was the scrutiny for him that was used on this Marine? When a student visa expires, they are declared illegally here.
Over half 48 Islamics convicted or connected to terrorist attacks on America over the past 10 years were illegal aliens or they relied on illegal aliens to obtain false identification.
The first WTC attack involved illegal aliens, the Los Angeles Millennium bombing plot, the New York subway bombing plot all involved illegal aliens.

involve, but not completely illegal aliens.
So you're saying half were... but HALF WEREN'T. Your point is moot.

My point is stop making regular citizens jump through hoops. We're trained monkeys these days getting on an airplane when it's no better than before 9-11 with security. If no "terrorists" were allowed the opportunity to enter the country, there wouldn't be the need for nonsense like what happened to this Marine. The actual concept of protection at home has been completely lost.
We have collectively lost our minds. And on that level, the "terrorists" have won. We have changed so much of what this country ploclaims to be. Which is ironically the aim of terrorists. We have changed our ways of life.
It has nothing to do with "oh look, here's the slippery slope" guy saying we're headed to chaos. The fact is, was, and always will be that a nation that gives up it's freedom never gets it back without a lot of bloodshed. It;s happened so many times in history on the pretense of some foreign menace, all at the same time actual security, like monitoring who comes into the country never gets taken care of.
We can monitor you though, we can read your email, we can tap your phones... The premise is you are a suspect to a crime now and the proof is on you to show you aren't. That is not what America was founded on.
So no I don't see myself as overreacting, I'm just going off the long history of incrementalism and precedent that has happened in every society that has fallen due to internal tyranny. Which will be the ultimate undoing of this country, internal. One freedom at a time, gone until we essentially crumble.

It has gotten old, REALLY old. Find a new soapbox.
This is the best quote in the entire article:

Exactly, and this is probably the biggest point I'm trying to make, I refuse to live in fear, I refuse to change my life because of some threat out there hanging around that may happen someday. I really don't have the time.
I'd rather die once in a "terror attack" than live everyday in a police state. I'm not going to show my papers everywhere like the 1940s in Germany.
And I'm not going to take off my shoes, and turn my computer on, and turn this off, and let them look at my coffee or finger my fiance at Midway Airport in Chicago (lawsuit won, by the way) or whatever for some idiot's amusement. It's insane. I am not a trained chimpanzee for some mouth breathing neer do well with a government job to push around. I pay my taxes, I am an American citizen.
Last I checked, especially with April 17th right here we employ them, we are their bosses, we tell them what to do. Not the other way around.
It has gotten old, REALLY old. Find a new soapbox.
And people can get upset and disagree, that's fine, I'll not cut you off at the knees for expressing your opinons. If anyone has a problem with what I say, address what I say. Not me. Tell me I'm wrong, describe to me where I'm wrong. Take my words and discredit them. I'll not snipe at anyone here expressing their opinion. I will have at least that much respect.
I fly a lot, I'm constantly on a plane and I get sick of having to dance a jig like some old vaudeville moron in black face sounding like Scatman Crothers "Isa be reals good next time Massa Gubmint, yessa massa I's be's reals good next time" All the while Ahmed walks right on by in a turban.
We're just cut from different cloth, sir. Sorry if that offends. But I refuse to be a subject. Maybe that appeals to you.

Haha, not if I can avoid taking them off.
Since the little incident at Midway a friend of mine started a charter flight business. I fly with them now. (I'm trying to be a fancy man) Commercial flying is almost as bad as commercial radio.
I don't have any problem in general with security, but sometimes people take it too far. That's all.

What bothers me about the "watch list" is that there is no way to:
a) know who's on it, its a secret
b) contest your inclusion in it, because you don't fucking know
