The Godfather (1 and 2), Apocalypse Now, Network, M*A*S*H. Sure his high point was in the 1970s (like so many) but does anyone else feel he doesn't get enough credit?
And he backed out of Godfather Part III, you have to love him for that.

Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory.
I love Apocalypse Now. One of the greatest flicks ever.

His awesome film work aside....
He came into my restaurant two days in a row with big parties and tipped some good money on top of the 18% gratuity. After the meal, he came back to the kitchen window and thanked the cooks for the good meal and service. Says a lot about the dude right there.
As the food runner, I'll never forget what he said to me: "Can I have some mayo?"
