This is a documentary from 1996 by the guys that made "Some kind of monster."
Basically, three little boys are found murdered, three teens are then arrested in connection. There are major questions about the evidence(or lack of) and the confession of a 17 yo with an IQ 72. There are also questionable tactics used by police to get the confession out of him. It is slightly slanted, not as bad as most documentary's. Personally, I left thinking they were guilty...many people disagree. No question, never get arrested in hickville!
This is a really good movie. They don't puss out either, they show video and pics of the bodies. Rented it off Netflix, may be hard to find else where.

great movie
I was actually enraged by that shit. The deal with the creppy stepdad with no teeth... fucking ponderous. Everyone should see this
Wasn't there a follow-up doc? Maybe a book... I don't know

The filmmaker is going to make a third film, but only after the final appeal is done, to give the story a final ending (and hopefully a happy one). I've been involved with the WM3 for quite some time now, and it's really scary that this kind of backwoods justice can still happen today.

Sure, there wasn't a lot of evidence and there are major questions but I would have a hard time 'fighting' for them. That Damien kid talking about being notorious at the end of the movie didn't sound like an innocent man. The film is also quick to talk about the retarted kid but never makes mention of how smart that Damien kid actually is. He sounded smarter than the judge.
The only question I had was the guy in the bathroom. The police not following up on that is outragous.
It is also important to note that the film makers have a track record of blaming police for shit. There is also a bias and I will have to read the book that suggests they are quilty.
Just like I won't call Bush Hiltler after a Micheal Moore movie, I won't call these kids innocent after a biased film.

I have seen both documentaries, and have been on the WM3 website to read about the whole thing. I'm a firm supporter of the cops, but I have to agree that the police and prosecutor were derelict in duty and judgement.
The confession should of been thrown out. He was a minor, and was mentally defiecent. That alone should of resulted in the judge removing the confession from the record.
Damien was depicted in court as a "Satan Worshiper" despite the fact that he was only a young man, that was exploring alternate forms of religion and listening to heavy metal music. I fear, he was convicted by the same type of bible thumpers that would burn books, shut down the internet, and have most of us in jail for crimes against christianity. In other words, he was guilty of association with an ideal. Holy shit, I could of been found guilty because I smoked pot, and listened to heavy metal music...all while having 666 and an upside down cross on my jean jacket when I was 17.
Take a religion, and mix in fear...stir in ambition, and simmer it with half truths and you get a capitol murder conviction on three boys that have more then a reasonable doubt of innocence. I think the Sheriff should of taken a very long hard look and grilled the father of the boys that was in the movie grandstanding, and making speeches that only led to most of us thinking he was just crazy enough to have done the crime himself.
This is just my opinion....but I think that crazy bastard killed those three kids, for whatever reason, and was lucky enough for a bible thumping public to fear anyone that was into an alternate way of looking at things. Did the father do it....guess we will never know. Did the WM3 do it? There is some doubt, and in America....that means your innocent.
