I can hear Howie already. "I was the first to walk from commercial radio to sattelite. Hoo Hoo Hoo. There they go again. Rippin' me off."
If you are gonna do this at least do it right. Don't let the zombies plaster the sidewalks with Hoo Hoo signs.
I live about 2000 miles away or I would join you. Git er dun.

Mostly sunny in the morning...then becoming partly cloudy. Highs around 60. West winds 5 to 10 mph.
Perfect weather for a stroll. Remember to twirl your umbrellas, and tip your hats to the ladies.... ;)

I think there need to be crossing guards on all four corners of 57th and 6th. They need to cross 57th St, as XM is on the opposite side of the street, isn't it? And they have to get the first green, as they don't have much time between the two studios, right?

The monorail can pick them up at the um-teen floor at K-Rock, and whisk them to the 5th flloor (I think) at XM. They'll never touch the ground, and it will be just like at Disney World. They'll be safe from the 6th Ave. traffic. :P

'FNY show bows without a bleep
By DAVID HINCKLEY
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
http://www.nydailynews.com/ips_rich_content/10-opie_anthony.JPG
Opie (Gregg Hughes) and Anthony Cumia return to WFNY.
Bad boys Opie and Anthony sounded almost like choir boys as they made their morning show debut yesterday on WFNY (92.3 FM).
Almost everything was good clean fun at WFNY's 57th St. studios, where they launched the 6-9 a.m. show, which will be simulcast on their XM Satellite home.
Not a single bit or word had to be "dumped" by WFNY general manager Tom Chiusano or program director Mark Chernoff, both of whom were in the studio swapping compliments with the team they hope can reverse the ratings plunge WFNY has taken since David Lee Roth replaced Howard Stern in January.
When they talked with William Donohue of the Catholic League, which helped to drum O&A off the air in 2002 after the sex-in-St.-Pat's incident, they sounded like they were about 30 seconds from inviting Donohue to become a permanent co-host.
But at 8:45 they walked a block from WFNY to XM, where they will do an unregulated satellite-only show, 9-11, and the tone changed - prompted, perhaps, by 15-20 fans who walked with them chanting things like "Howard sucks."
On the air at XM, Opie, Anthony, comic Jimmy Norton and the listeners were back to casual cursing within 10 minutes. Interns were being abused and by the time a birthday cake had been splattered across the carpet and Stalker Patti, the show was back to raucous chaos.
Opie (Gregg Hughes) assured fans several times it will reach those heights on WFNY, whose parent, CBS, is syndicating the show on six other stations as well. He said that when they talked with CBS Chairman Leslie Moonves, "We were doing the kiss-a-- thing when he told us 'Don't do too much of this. We want you to keep some edge.' "
Anthony Cumia interjected, "And I'm thinking, you're sure you want to tell us that?"
O&A were welcomed to the air by Imus of WFAN (660 AM), and the fact that Cumia was nursing a bad cold could have given him and Imus a lot to talk about, since Imus holds the all-time radio record for the most times saying, "I feel horrible today."
But a bad phone connection cut their conversation short, and O&A devoted much of their first show to introducing or reintroducing themselves to listeners.
Doing both XM and CBS "will bring more content to the program," said Opie. "Bigger events, bigger prizes, bigger guests, everything."
He and Anthony thanked CBS for bringing them back "and giving us another chance," though Opie had one addendum to that.
"Who are we kidding?" he said. "CBS had no choice."

O&A Play It Bleeping Safe In Terrestrial Radio Return
Opie & Anthony marked their return to terrestrial radio yesterday by not being bleeped once.
The pair were welcomed back to CBS Radio’s Free-FM by, among others, radio and cable TV competitor Don Imus, who told O&A that since CBS was desperate, they could do whatever they wanted.
David Hinckley reported in the New York Daily News that at 8:45 AM, the pair walked a block from WFNY New York to XM, where they will do two unregulated satellite-only hours. They were accompanied by a group of fans chanted things like "Howard sucks."
Opie said that he and Anthony have long wanted to get back to terrestrial radio, but "We couldn't talk anyone into it.” He added, “Thank God David Lee Roth did what he did, which was absolutely nothing."

SHOCKING RETURN
O&A BACK IN THE LAND OF THE FREE
By DON KAPLAN
http://www.nypost.com/photos/ent042706122.jpg
April 27, 2006 -- SHOCK jocks Opie and Anthony took over archrival Howard Stern's old time-slot on 92.3 "Free FM" yesterday - the station that fired them four years ago.
But they marked their return to terrestrial radio simply grateful that they are not taking over for Stern, but following David Lee Roth's disastrous bid to be a morning show host.
"I think the stress and pressure would have come with following Howard," Gregg "Opie" Hughes told The Post.
"How do you compete against what he accomplished over there in the 20 years he was there? This is a great position to be in - once removed. If we move the needle at all, we're going to look like heroes."
After Stern left for Sirius satellite radio late last year, 92.3 fell to the bottom of the ratings heap.
"There's not liking him [Stern] personally for certain things," says Anthony Cumia. "And then there's just being stupid and not saying the truth. You'd have to be insane to not see that the guy had a major impact on the industry.
"We just have a problem with him because of a lot of stuff that went on behind the scenes between the two shows," he says.
The first three hours of their show originate from Stern's old studio and are bound by FCC regulations, while the final two hours unfold at XM and are the unfiltered free-for-all that the duo have gotten used to over the last 18 months on satellite.
They plan to walk from one studio to the other every day during a commercial break, since both companies insisted that they broadcast a portion of their show from "home turf," Cumia said.

Format change did jack for CBS Radio ratings
Thursday, April 27, 2006
BY CLAUDIA PERRY
Star-Ledger Staff
The winter ratings released yesterday didn't bring good news for CBS Radio. The company now has the three lowest-rated full-market FM stations in the New York metro area.
Ratings for Free FM (WFNY 92.3 FM) tumbled from 3.2 with listeners 12 and older to a 1.1. Over at Jack FM (101.1 FM), ratings with the same demographic fell from 3.1 to 2.5. WNEW (102.7 FM) held onto to its 1.8 share. Even more distressing for Jack, which plays an eclectic music mix with no DJs, news, traffic or weather, was its 1.6 share with listeners 25-54. That age range is the station's target audience.
According to Inside Radio, the Cherry-Hill based industry tip sheet, CBS chairman Les Moonves said yesterday the company is contemplating selling off some stations since the radio division is "not achieving acceptable growth."
Each share point represents a percentage of radios in use of the 15.3 million available listeners in the New York metro area, which includes Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Union counties. Ratings can be affected by where listener diaries are distributed and who chooses to respond. The winter ratings period ran from Jan. 5 to March 29. The spring book will be released July 17.
WLTW (106.7 FM), the Clear Channel Adult Contemporary, won the 12-plus demographic race with a 6.6 share. Biggest gainers in that category were Spanish-language stations Top 40 WSKQ (97.9 FM, La Mega), posting a 5.6 up from a 4.5 and AC WPAT (93.1 FM), going to a 4.5 from 3.7. Arbitron made an effort to measure more Spanish-speaking households for this book, which explains some of the jump.
WHTZ (100.3 FM), the Clear Channel Top 40 powerhouse, was tops with listeners 18 to 34, passing La Mega and WQHT (97.1 FM, Hot 97) with a 9.3 share. La Mega did jump from a 7.6 to 8.8 for second place.
In mornings, the El Vacilón de la Mañana crew at WSKQ posted the top numbers with listeners 12 and older. Right behind their 7.3 share was CBS Radio's news station WINS (1010 AM), which benefited from the New York transit strike and other news events. It was the same story with listeners 25-54, with La Mega notching an 8.8. share to WINS' 5.7.
At CBS, Opie and Anthony returned to the airwaves yesterday to take over the morning slot on Free FM vacated by the justly maligned David Lee Roth. The duo, best known for broadcasting a couple allegedly having sex in St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York, did moderately well at WNEW in its hot talk incarnation, posting as much as a 3 share in afternoons. But it remains to be seen if their second time around here will work out. They remain at XM Satellite radio, but will do their first three hours within FCC limitations, then journey to the XM studios for two more unexpurgated hours.
Free FM also lost Chris Booker, who is heading to Clear Channel's WYSP to do mornings where he'll be up against Opie and Anthony. Booker was on the evening shift at Free FM.
New Jersey doings:
Ronald Francioli, mayor of Hanover Township, will be stopping by the WDHA (105.5 FM) studios at 2 p.m. today to declare Curtis Kay Day. Kay has been at the rock station for 27 years. Tune in to catch the ceremony.
WDHA and WMGQ (98.3 FM), owned by Greater Media, will roll out HD stations starting over the next three months. WDHA will mine its live performance archives for concert recordings and other rock era goodies while WMGQ will offer adult album alternative.

Free FM also lost Chris Booker, who is heading to Clear Channel's WYSP to do mornings where he'll be up against Opie and Anthony. Booker was on the evening shift at Free FM.
WYSP is not owned by Clear Channel and Booker is not going to WYSP.
Booker is going to WIOQ.

"There's not liking him [Stern] personally for certain things," says Anthony Cumia. "And then there's just being stupid and not saying the truth. You'd have to be insane to not see that the guy had a major impact on the industry.
I hate it when they whimp out like this to the media...just like the talkers thing...why dont they ever say to the media they are better and bigger than Stern

Because they're trying to win over howard's old audience, and dont need to come off as arrogant pricks..
and, they're not dillusional like dice is when he bashes them.. Howard did have an impact on radio, and they certainly aren't a bigger name than him.
