Since people are throwing around the term "sell-out".
A "Sell-out" leaves 90% of his fan base for $$$$... i.e. HOWARD
The COMPLETE opposite of a "Sell out" is someone keeps their current fan base (on XM), and returns to syndication so that their old fans can listen for free, weather or not they buy XM units, and provide the paying customers (of XM) more time on the air daily, ALL of their old tapes, and the ability to tell the world the truth of why they were away for 18 months, and then came back to radio on a satelite format. i.e. O&A (and Jimmy, Patrice, Burr, Kenny, etc, etc, etc....).
They were great BEFORE they ever went to XM, why in the HELL would anyont think they somehow forgot how to do it. Not to mention, CBS has to deal with the bleeps, XM'ers listen to business as usual, PLUS 1-2 hours MINIMUM.
Point being, Stop throwing that term around if you don't know what it means. The only one getting screwed here is Howard, which is the gameplan...RIGHT!!!!

Excuse me, sir, but could you please provide the source of your definition? I do not necessarily disagree with you. However, some people might be seeing "sell-out" as a term to apply to a show that partially abandons its uncensored content for the sake of extra money. I disagree with that assesement but a little devil's advocate never hurt....

mainly because it hasnt worked, and the term is poorly being associated with our BBBoys, when the only person who sold out on their fans was hoohoo.
My definition is from the US common sense dictionary. so yes, you will not find it in Websters, although I would love to see what it says if listed. Thinking it will have a picture of Howard next to it.
This should be happy times, instead it has been nothing but aggrivation because of our very own fans.

BitWrecker sir, great posts.:)
This thing is one of the greatest things that can happen. 2 corporations that were competitors working together to bring down the hooknosed tyrant that has poisoned airwaves for years now.
Nothing can piss of Howard more than this, all his hypocrasies (sp?) will be exposed to his old audience, you think they will buy Sirius then?
I can assure you that is not selling out. It's pulling out alll the stops to bury a weakened bloody enemy. Howie wants war, he got it.

In order to succeed XM needs to keep getting more subscriptions. In reality only a small portion of O&A's old audience has signed up. Many just lost touch when they were kicked off the air after SFS3. They were off the air for a long time. In the cities where they are syndicating they are giving these old fans the opportunity to get familiar with the show once again. Hopefully enough to want to hear the uncensored version with extra time as well. More subscriptions.
All just a big advertising ploy which should only benefit the show in the future, and if they happen to do something to once again get kicked off terrestrial radio they will only become more infamous. Then we can all hear about the aftermath on XM.

Point taken, however, we all have to deal with the a-hole hooWHO fans, and them hearing peoples displeasure and calling O&A "Sell-out's" gives them a lifeline they don't need. I just want to ensure people understand who the only "sell-out" in this situation is. Not to mention, do you really think the BBBoys need to be seeing this shit the night before their biggest day since, well, ever?
I know it isn't all about me, but this is a message board, with fans of varying opinions.
For some of the die hard O&A supporters, they don't get people like me. My opinion is simple, I don't know O&A pre XM, so why the hell would I care that it is going to be on Free FM? Yes I get the many points for why this is more gooder: longer program, more fans, Stern revenge, payback, etc etc.
For those of us who don't really share the history (lived through it), and yes I have taken the time to read and listen to it, it doesn't mean as much. I don't care if they get stern revenge - I listened to him for years because there was nothing else on - and when he left I didn't miss his royalness (he got too self involved). Do I enjoy the jokes, sure, would i miss them if they were gone - no. The other radio station people who blasted them - sure it will be entertaining to listen to them bash them and make fum of them, but once again - no relevance to me. Yes, I know they do a wonderful job enlightening "us" as to the why.
My concern is simple, I am one of the dozens of people who bought my XM to listen to O&A. I know that some cannot fathom this concept so I will explain it. I wanted to hear the show I had heard a lot about, and in an uncensored setting, and I paid for the unit and the subscription. Now people are getting to do it for free, and that Kinda pisses me off. Yes, I know that I only heard about them from them being on Free FM, but I paid to hear them. Yes, new 2005 chevy - free xm - O&A virus hit - bought portable unit - paid for subscription 1 year ahead. And I have gotten several friends and relatives to buy units to hear them after I had spread the virus.
I am still taking a wait and see approach, with some skepticism. Will O&A, XM, or anyone care if I dump my unit and subscription if I don't care for the new format - HELL NO. Although I have come to the conclusion that even if I don't like the new format, R&F may be worth the price alone. But this is a message board and I am posting my opinion

When your motive is inspired by money as opposed to show quality, that may be considered selling out. There is no denying show quality will not be as good so stop lying to yourselves. This goes beyond saying the "7 curse words", its about free flowing edgy content. Yes XM will be uncensored the whole time but between 6-9 they will be doing an FCC friendly show. The FCC is extremely strict these days and Im sure CBS will not tolerate constant dumping, so you will get a safe watered down show. To say we are not "Real" fans for not supporting this move is absolutely false. I think we are just disappointed that O&A have changed their tune and are going back to terrestrial radio after bashing it for so long. They were trying to save people from the long commercial breaks and strict rules of regular radio with their golden tickets and now theyre going back. Uncensored=good Censored=bad Lets stop sugar coating this! I know that they havent started yet but each person reading this knows im right, some just might not want to admit it!

they have never been FCC friendly nor have they comprimised their show to the point of getting fired.
I can see the edge being taken off Patrices endless F-Bombs, which is no biggie to me.
How can you say that quality will be lessened, they haven't even started, so you don't know a thing, just as I do not know that it won't, but they have earned the benefit of the doubt. If you mean the language, then hey, the honus lies on CBS to take care of that, not them, if it is meant about content, well, shit, it was never a problem before. Remember, unlike WhoWho, they do not live day by day on fart jokes.
so I say sir, that " I know that they havent started yet but each person reading this knows im right, some just might not want to admit it" is complete bullshit, because the majority of us do not feel that way, and will be listening on XM and paltalk, where there will be no issues.

Hey ern, you have a right to your opinion, fuck anybody else who says different. I hear where your coming from. It is a little disconcerting after 18 months of being told " Satellite radio is a thousand times better then terrestial radio, today terrestial radio is governed by such strict regulations that we could never do the show we did before, we have more freedom of content & language now, terrestial radio sucked so bad because with all the commercials, as soon as you got a flow to the show going it was time to take a commercial break, (yeah, I know, not a lot, or any commercials right now, but your'e retarded if you think that they aren't comming.) Free radio is free because you could never do the type of show that we do on XM......etc"
The Sopranos would be a great show if they decided that for the first two - thirds of the episodes there would be no cursing or violence. That way uncle Junior could have slapped tony across the head with a fish, called him a silly goose in Italian, and then walk into the hospital room much, much later and shoot him in the fucking gut. "Cazzata Malanga!"
I was being sarcastic there but now that I think about it, that would actually be a pretty entertaining episode.
These thoughts aside, I just can't help feeling good for O&A. They deserve this. This is a really great accomplishment for them. I'm glad that the show I always knew was excellent, and have paid for as a result, is back on the "Free FM" air. Back on, and now able to prove to all the posers, fuckos, and various other detractors what the loyal fans have always known, that O&A fucing rule.
Like Death Metal Moe said, "No one's cancelling yet." I'll give this new version a fair shot, If it's too watered down for my liking, I'll cancel. My opinion, my decision, and fuck everyone else.

I tend to think that you are wrong. Why would a big fan want to be mocked on the air for doubting what might be a great thing? I might not agree with everyone's posts, but they're just saying what they feel. Trolls aside.

the show would have to be watered down for the free fm hours. if you have a platform with NO boundries and move to a platfrom WITH boundries how can you say the content won't change? Not saying the show can't be great within the new boundries but to suggest the boundries aren't constricted with regard to free-fm is disengenious. and that constricting of the boundries is where a lot of apprehension lies and I believe rightly so. I am all for giving them the benefit of the doubt but i am apprehensive--personally i am more concerned with the commercials. re-playing old bits doesn't cover it.

Listened to the full show and to be honest the first three hours were watered down quite a bit. Do I like it, no , can I live with it yes. I don't need cursing or graphic descriptions . What did bother me is that it seemed as if the majority of time I was listening to old bits that to tell you the truth, I really don't want to hear again in the morning. There were two ten minute breaks in the first 45 minutes of the show and then from about 8:20 til 9:00 there was really only one segment sandwiched between commercial breaks and the end of the show. You can scream and bitch at me but I never really got into the flow of the show the first three hours as it seemed just as it was going to get interesting, they had to break.
The bottom line is that the boys should have stuck to their guns and just did the XM show and let CBS work around them. That's what they always said they would do and it just didn't happen.
But whatever they do, I'll keep listening because it still is better than what's out there now. They spoiled us for 18 months and then took it away.
